Yeah, it’s wild most people who grew up watching the dub didn’t know that cos it was cut 🤧
Ever since first learning about this fact it has been sticking with me, and probably will forever. I remember turning the internet upside down because I wanted to see that scene for myself. Eventually I did find it somewhere. It did hit close to home, as I also do come from a similar family background. Really the only big difference is that I don't have any younger siblings, it's always been just me. There were some tough times growing up, but as cliche as it might sound, I guess in some way surviving that hell has made me stronger.. and made sure that I resent alcohol and have never had a single drop. The last thing I want to become is my dad.

@@raytaku_ Hell no. Well, of course that has left some scars, too. If my dad ever drinks during the holidays, especially Christmas, I just break down in tears. Spent last Christmas by myself at home, feeling like shit because I understandably didn't want to see him. So that sure was something. Some might say I'm oversensitive, but after years of bullshit and occasional fear I ended up quite thick-skinned. But of course even the strongest break down sometime. I love Digimon for the same reason you mentioned, it makes the show itself and the characters so much more relatable. I guess there was a reason I've been drawn to Taichi ever since I was a kid, long before I learned that thing about his dad.
goddamn i didn't know that about tai and kari's father i guess the "terrorist attack" plus Kari illness got him sober as he shows no signs of being a alcoholic in the series proper.
It’s unfortunate cos the dub removed that entire story segment completely so as far as us growing up on the dub their father being an alcoholic was not a part of the story.
@@raytaku_ it the actual series even it the sub I don't recall any instances of him appearing drunk so that also why it surprised me. Also found this surpising as out of the original eight tai and kari seem to have the most stable homelife with sora's issues with her mother, the pressure put on joe by his dad, the whole izzy knowing he adopted thing, the diovice and sperpation of tk and matt not to mention although he was pretty cool they did give the impression mr ishida might be an extremely distant father which explains alot about matt's attitude and mimi parents spoiling her rotten not to mention as noted by the zero 2 dub part of the reason they moved to new york was to escape the digimon craziness regardless how their daughter might feel.
You really talked about digimon's multiverse without mentioning the v tamer manga from 1998 where the cast of 02 appears and canonically acknowledges the existence of the said multiverse. even takuya from season 4 appears in this.

Someone had “disproved” the 12 episode rumor. They said because of the time slot it was put in, it couldn’t have been just a short series because after 12 episodes there wouldn’t be anything to air for the rest of the season. 🤷🏻♂️

Digimon Hunters is the closest to pokémon. Monster catching, flat characters, gen 1 fanservice and simplified morality ( like an episode about how you should sleep at night )

Gaiamon being the strongest Digimon didn't age well. Nowadays we got mfs like Jesmon GX, Shoutmon X7SM, Susanoomon, Quartzmon, DarknessBagramon, Negamon, Lucemon SM, Ogudomon X, Omegamon X, Chornomon, Xros Up Arrestdramon SM etc.
Also, are you planning on doing a Data Squad/Savers retrospective? It's an underrated gem of a series.
Yeah Gaiamon never actually materialized, it’s more of a what if Digimon. I’m sure if AOA pulled it off in merging Galacticmon with earth then Gaiamon would have been untouchable!

the gaiamon fact simply isn't true, as Zeed could of acomplished the same thing as well as deleting a infinite number of dimensions, had Ryo not been there to stop it, thats more then making one race go extinct. far more.
