I wanna clear up Tommy's background, Tommy is believed to be from Poland and used to watch pirated Disney films as a kid before moving to France and being treated like shit. He then decided to move to America after saying "You're tearing me APAHRT, Europe!" He met up with a cousin in Louisiana, then he went out to San Francisco to do acting and form Street Fashions USA. At least I think that's what happened
According to The Disaster Artist, Greg says he dyes his hair black with a really cheap dye, he had tons of money and anytime you brought up the issue he would get super pissed, he had a really fancy apartment filled with imported clothes that he supposedly sold and he had a lone picture of him looking really happy and without the droopy eye
Arthur Bradshaw It's quite literally the anti-Citizen Kane. Citizen Kane is hailed as the greatest film because it's a collection of tropes and an overall analysis on how to build a movie, not because it's good. The Room is a collection of mistakes and abysmal writing tropes, so it compliments Citizen Kane perfectly as a teaching tool.
felixdaniels37 that's an interesting position to take considering that was NOT how movies were made back then. Orson Welles even said he only made citizen Kane the way he did because he had no idea what he was doing. People liked it because it is legitimately good and was groundbreaking for its time.
Eos! I've seen Citizen Kane a few years ago and I honestly think it holds up. Might not wow most people now but for an old timey B/W movie? It entertained.
Rohan Kishibe and 『Heaven's Door』 don't get me wrong here. Citizen Kane is undeniably a great movie, having seen it myself. Orson Welles said he himself had no idea what he was doing in regards to filmmaking (look it up if you don't believe me). What I'm talking about is that the guy I replied to implied citizen Kane was a purposefully constructed masterpiece rather than an accidental one.
I remember someone mentioned a reddit post about how maybe Tommy Wiseau is just a vampire, but the Bran Stoker kind that doesn't get killed by sunlight and is only weakened by it. I laughed for a good couple minutes, thinking "Oh, that explains alot." I stopped laughing, because it *did* explain a lot.
Thank you for posting these. Now I can finally listen to the interesting stuff on SBFC without having to hear through a lot of Wrestling and anime references that I don't get
it's kind of a shame that these scrublords don't really discuss how much of an egotistical prima Donna Tommy was during the filing of The Room. when I first found out about it after reading the book, at first it made me wonder why he gets so much attention. them I realized why; we're not laughing with him, we're laughing AT him.
Being anywhere in the same room as Uwe Boll and not hurling a brick at him is in the same mind space as "You had time travel at your disposal and you didn't use it to kill Hitler?!?!"
Late but I'll drop my 2 cents: Tommy Wiseau made a bad movie, let's be real. It's atrocious. But it's at least entertaining, and he's become a meme amongst films. David Cage, is accredited as a good game maker, but his games are atrocious. Just... terrible. They're not even that entertaining because "wasted potential is worse than no potential". You can see how the concepts just shit themselves. Tommy is better than David because Tommy is hilarious and weird, while David is just terrible.
Wiseau makes a bad thing, and it's funny, because it only lasts 90~minutes. David Cage makes a bad thing, and its agonizing, because it's 10+ hours. Neither get how humans work. Neither quote get how sex and relationships work, but Tommy's misunderstanding is more innocent where David's is rapey.
So, are they talking about the award winning (I'm being serious here) movie The Room, the one about the woman who is kidnapped with her son and they're kept in the single room for years (this movie came out like maybe w years ago, the one I'm referring to)? Honestly I'm pretty confused, someone please clear this up for me
no, they're talking about some other cult movie of a similar title. Search Tommy Wiseau if you want to view the movie yourself, but the basic idea is that it's supposed to be a series drama about a man and his relationship troubles. However , it's so badly acted and directed that it ends up being a comedy to the audience.
Postal movie is great if you already loved the Postal games' absurd offensive humor. Which I dearly do. It's like a reverse Rampage movie, where the violence happens around the protagonist instead of the other way around. It's America summed up in one crazy place called, Paradise, Arizona. Rewatched some of the scenes and enjoying it ironically or not. And I regret nothing.
Who the heck keeps making that miserable grunting, exhaling noise? I keep hearing like "ugh uff hffph nghff" every few seconds throughout the video. Is it Pat? Whoever it is they sound like they're freaking out inside
My first issue with this film is it is supposed to be how the film actually got made, but they lie multiple times in the trailer. They show the roof scene shot in front of a green screen in a giant studio. I doubt a single green screen was ever used in that film; let alone it being done in a studio. So they're lying to us right off the bat. I still hope the film is good, though.
No, the rooftop was shot on a greenscreen. They later visited a property Wiseau turned out to own in San Francisco with an amazing view of the city and were befuddled why he insisted on shooting the roof scenes as a greenscreen when he could have shot them on that roof.
Uwe boll and other purveyors of schlock should just be confronted head on. you really do no one any favors by pretending to respect these filmmakers. Just bite the bullet. "We're laughing at you not with you. This movie sucks so bad it's now funny. That may be rude and disrespectful but I'm letting you in on a truth everyone else knows. Want me to go back to lying to your face?" If uwe boll comes back with an offer to fight you tell him " you see this is the problem. Do you realize how psycho that attitude is for a filmmaker to have? Obviously not. Seek help.'
"You're teahing me apart, Woolie!"
Fuccboivin screamed as Woolie pounded away.
Some A+ fanfic material here.

He's like the Joker- nobody knows where the hell he came from, what his deal is.
I don't care if they all saw it.
I demand a Let's Watch, in all of Tommy's glory.

I remember seeing something arguing that Tommy Wiseau was DB Cooper
So what your saying is that at night he becomes TFS dracula, and during the day he becomes a more retarded alucard?
Actually most quotable movie of all time.
Mr. Wiseau is the gift that keeps on giving.
19:56 is possible the best laugh pat has ever done.
OMG you're right
What a podcast, Mark!
I feel like Tommy is related to David Cage in some way.
I feel like there's a massive collusion between all terrible writers, including Neil Breen.
I really want to get Tommy and Neil Breen together. This needs to happen.
no because Tommy makes entertaining stuff, even thought I liked Heavy Rain
Tommy Wiseau is what David Cage strives to become.
At least Tommy managed to make something memorable and has made a real movie.
Listening to this a second time because this convo was SO GOOD.
13:53
Pat's groan of agony is hilarious.
I have never watched this movie, yet I know most of the movie for some reason. Weird.
Strangely, the plot is so simple that basically the summary is spoilers.
Ahaha. What a story, Mark.
Perhaps they think Tommy Wiseau is German because he looks like a tiny version of Hugo?
Jeedy Jay That movie is _not_ Precision German Engineering.
Neither is Postal, it must be said.
hearing this is just, heartbreaking. gotta feel for our boy Tommy
This conversation may sum up the best of the sbfp
Wisseu was born in new Orleans according to his bio, probably not accurate
Everything points to him being born somewhere in the soviet union.
Thank you for posting these. Now I can finally listen to the interesting stuff on SBFC without having to hear through a lot of Wrestling and anime references that I don't get
That's too real
Mad props to Woolie for knowing NTR.
NTR??
God, this conversation was hilarious
We desperately need a let's watch of Disaster artist.

Tommy Wiseau vs David Cage: Discuss
The ChronoSim One is a striving movie maker that doesn't really understand how to, and fails in every aspect. And the other is Tommy Wiseau.
Wiseau's Room is lightning in a bottle, like the OG Ghostbusters or The Crow. It was perfect and can never be duplicated. Cage is just redundant crap
Late but I'll drop my 2 cents:

Thanks, I kept thinking while listening "When the fuck did this happen?", but again thanks.
josh m yeah, the good movie is just called "room" the one they are talking about is "the room"
GarfieldiusPrime Oh, I was always under the impression they were the same movie.
*What a movie, Mark!*
I got into it when....rifftrax first released their riff, I believe.
any info on they were talking about at the end, in relation to the de niro extra scamming a town?
WAIT BUT THAT STORY AT THE END I CANT FIND IT I NEED TO KNOW

Uwe Boll is a shit director hack.
But... he _got_ Postal at its basics. And for that, I must give him credit.

There are indeed greenscreened scenes in this shitfest of a film, dude.
Move on, next question
