- The Folsom Lake Symphony performs the Suite from "The Magnificent Seven" by Elmer Bernstein. "Hollywood Hits" concert on June 5, 2016 at the Harris Center for the Arts, Folsom CA. Peter Jaffe, Music Director and Conductor.

THE AMAZING WESTERN THEME SONG FROM "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" BY THE LATE ELMER BERNSTEIN IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE "BEST" WESTERN THEME SONG EVER RECORDED!!! NOTHING OUT THERE IS EVEN CLOSE!!! Silverado had a wonderful score as well.
As so many have already stated, “There is something that just makes this rendition special”. I have listened to ten other orchestras perform this, but this one makes me feel like I was a young boy seeing this for the first time in the movie theater. Honestly, the emotion and force they put into their performance not only takes me back to not only the Magnificent Seven, but the film on which it’s based, the incredible Japanese classic, Seven Samurai!
I agree ...other versions were way too fast or rushed .

That is a really nice rendition. They got it. I used to watch that movie on television all the time; I didn't know how well I had it.

@@sierramike5259 I was 10 at the time. A family friend took us to see it at a theater in Brooklyn. The impact was tremendous! Still is.. 🤠

Very nice rendition from the orchestra, but a poor job from tv direction, it always shows the wrong section of the orchestra at the critical moments; show the chords while the orchestra is playing the metals (bronzes), the percussion it's almost invisible to this tv director, and so on.
This is a good version, but the best version is the Film Society Orchestra version, also available on You-Tube. It's much more lively. This is one is too slow. And the conductor in this one is really distracting.
I found the FSO one a bit too fast. This one is a really nice speed, exciting when it needs to be and a bit laid back at other parts. There's no need to rush through a piece like this.
