well this shows us two FACTS : 1) every big fish was once small 2) how money can alter your image, style, and physical appearence (no surgery it comes naturally !!!)
Edward Furlong had a REAL edginess (both in his actual look and his demeanor) and a sarcastic smart-assery to him though that DiCaprio didn’t have (DiCaprio can "act" cocky and smart-ass, but it's not his natural nature) that made him perfect for John Connor. Unfortunately, Furlong then became a junkie, which destroyed his chances of continuing to play the role throughout the remainder of the Terminator franchise. Indisputably, I do think DiCaprio is ACTUALLY the better actor, BUT, Furlong was BORN to play John Connor. Which is actually a shame, because he could have potentially built a VERY stable career playing this role, ALL the way up through Terminator: Dark Fate, which would have reunited him with Linda Hamilton, which would have been COMPLETELY EPIC! One of the GREAT mother/son movie reunions of ALL TIME, even if only for one scene. Oh well....🤷
dude...I thought the same thing ..I would advise him go to school and learn a trade ..his look was bad ..his acting was horrible and wow ..he was simply shitty .who would've guessed he would be the huge star in the late 90s ..wow
Hahahaaahaha I can't believe how stupid all of you are... He was still young he didn't had any experience with acting, and of course when someone wants to learn something he/she will do anything, in this case Brad paid many money to learn because he wanted to be actor... He is a true example of that when you want something so much you will do anything to be best in that job(in this case acting)... Congrats Brad you are one of the best actors in the world and let them speak about how terrible actor you are every celebrity has haters, but the most important thing is that they hate you because you are still beautiful and so many of this people who are writing shit about you are jealous of your beauty... I wish you all the best and many years of acting, you prove how good actor you are by winning an Oscar this year... I hope the next nomination you get is for best actor and win an Oscar for that too you really deserves. One of the best actors of this 20 years... And all of you who says that he is a bad actor watch Troy, inglorious basterds, moneyball, 12 monkeys and fight club, legends of the fall... You will see how wrong you are fucking haters
I love watching tapes like these; it just shows where these huge actors were (talent wise) and where they are now. If you practice your craft, you have to land something sooner or later.
Leo was watching films from the 1940s as a 16 year old and was always looking up to amazing actors from that era. That's why he stood out from the likes or brad, Downey Jnr, Keanu Reeves
This such a great way to show people that everyone has to start somewhere, everyone has to go after what they want and someone will believe in you. Thank you for this video!!!
Just makes me feel humble to see even big stars have gone through all the rejections and failures to be where they are right now, so it's not like just we the common people face hardships.
@@Lissitchka yeah sure :) 10 years ago we were already watching this video to check out these stars before they were big. The idea of calling Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio collectively 'this future celebrity' when they were already huge at the time of writing and had been for q a while before that is stupid. On top of that, my style of writing was earnest and therefore at odds with the downright ignorant stupidity of what I was suggesting. The comment was totally absurd and any humour such as it was lay in entertaining the absurdity both of the comment and idea of writing it. 10 years on, I'm glad I did.
Agreed! Her audition was great!! You could see her thinking through the evidence like a scientist. (Laura Dern did a good job in the final movie though! Hard to mess up when Spielberg is directing you....)
Brad Pitt actually had an uncredited scene in the movie 'Less Than Zero' at the end of the movie during the Palm Springs party when Andrew McCarthy got into the fight with James Spader.
Same with George Clooney Denzel Washington Leonardo DiCaprio Johnny Depp lol 😂 they are all A list leading men partly because they're conventionally attractive and appeal to the opposite sex nothing wrong with that Hollywood is a very surface level business
When I saw Pitt’s audition for “Backdraft” all I could think of was Thelma & Louise. He would have been a TERRIBLE choice for Backdraft, but was Oscar-worthy in Thelma & Louise. Helen Hunt might have been ok as Ellie Sattler, but Laura Dern was better. Jennifer Connelly and Russell Crowe were BRILLIANT in A Beautiful Mind, and it’s hard to imagine any other actors in those roles.
They aren't supposed to be entertaining by themselves, but the interest of them is in the context of the actors' future success. They are just small pieces of Hollywood history.
I guess Matt Lauer did not know that many would consider it unethical and inappropriate, if legal, for casting directors to sell audition tapes. When actors come in to audition, it's their time to try all kinds of things, do different takes, and feel safe that only the people directly involved with the project will see the footage. I am surprised that the actors union, SAG-AFTRA, has not said anything, unless the sellers got signed releases from the actors who gave their permission and waived all rights. One thing is for an audition to appear "mysteriously" on TH-cam, and another is for 3rd parties to profit.
I can't BELIEVE they would try and make a TV SHOW out the OUTSIDERS. That movie is a classic! What were they thinking?Turned it into something cheap. Its like when they make part 2 movies out of a perfect part 1…like GREASE does anyone remember GREASE 2?
Hmmm.... mispronouncing Coppola and Keanu .... And "Nicole Kidman made a name for HIMself" (5:17) ... -- luckily Lauer didn't have to audition for his part!
Once you get your foot in the door you dont have to be great anymore.. don't down brad pitt.. Hes a great actor married to a great actor so you actors chill.
I wonder WHERE the hell we can buy or download these audition tapes. Maybe they're selling it on amazon or somewhere else on the web. someone please tell me.
You're the cutest and genius from the start of Your carrer. I'm sorry I was too bounded to notice it earlier. After The Departed I've finally realize how great You are. For all of your roles we owe you a tonn of Oscars. Thank You for everything! We're all totally in love with You!!!!
Gwyneth Paltrow playing a scientist. Movie actor is about as far away from that as possible. Scientists toil endlessly for little credit, movie stars are applauded endlessly for relatively nothing.

Agreed. After seeing her audition tape I can't fathom why they went with Dern. I loved Dern as a kid, but when I went to see the 3-D re-release last spring (my first time watching it as an adult), I found Dern unbelievable in the part. You're right about that. Some actors can get away with it if the movies are good enough. Bruce Willis is one of my all time favorite actors along with Samuel Jackson, but both don't change very much from role to role. Both have only stepped out of their usual personas a couple of times. I think some just possess the talent of sucking you into the movie better than others, no matter the storyline.
This may be dumb but I really want to know how they make the actors look like they are crying or do they actually cry? How does one make themselves cry right on cue?
LoL just before starting this video the song diamonds came in my head for some reason and then video starts and I hear the song ! I thought I got mad haha
Leonardo DiCaprio showed his true natural talent in What's eating Gilbert Grape? What an outstanding performance!
What about Basket Ball Diaries
i cry every time at “the scene”
I couldn't agree more
I honestly thought he had a disability until i saw him in another movie.. way back in the day. Awesome actor.

That's some pretty good acting in the auditions imo. They really go for it with no shame or shyness.
If only that were true . . . and I don't speak for myself.
Helen Hunt killed the Jurassic Park audition. I actually thought I was watching Jurassic Park while she was auditioning
Same here!
Pitt was horrible . Robert Downey was already pretty good then.
+Joey Gonza Pitt got in with his looks, lucky he managed to develop his acting side... Downey was a natural all rounder;)

Yeah, he was lucky Clooney turned down Thelma And Louisse.

Samuel
He was . He did pretty good in Less Than Zero .

I can see Helen Hunt in Jurassic Park. There's no way I can see Gyneth Palthrow.
