It's also a very comedian thing to do. A lot of comedians tend to not enjoy praise that much and find it very awkward since there are deep issues they are working through in their head. I felt the uncomfortableness too for the first 10-15 minutes but I think it has more to do with the history of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, Adam has been friends with her since the age of 14 years old so it is possible this is what caused that but once they get into it , it is nice to watch the respect they both have for each other's crafts
It boils down to Brad Pitt is much more highly respected as an actor than Sandler, Sandler is a legend as a CASH COW CLOWN and Brad is a sex symbol, nearly mythological creature in Hollywood. 🤷
I think most people have an impression Brad is just an empty-headed good looking guy. He wouldn't have this long lasting career if that was a fact. He's obviously a smart bloke who knows where to put his eggs.
I always thought Pitt seemed cool, kind, etc. however this talk gave me a whole new appreciation for Sandler. So humble, down-to-earth and such a sweetheart of a guy. He’s a superstar and it’s almost as if he doesn’t realize it. I wish more people acted like him.

Adams father and I had an hour together at the grand opening of the ESPN zone in Baltimore. When Adam showed up as a guest. He talked about his son with such great admiration, he was so proud of him in so many ways. But the thing that stuck with me the most, that he said, and I quote, Adam is the same kid he was when he graduated high school, and none of this money and fame, has changed him a bit. And I love him so much for that. What a couple of really cool guys RIP, Mr. Sandler.
Saw Adam Sandler with Kevin James getting harassed in Vegas by the paparazzi. They were like two inches from adams face and he never lost his cool. He was so nice and calmly said “guys please, we’re on vacation.” Also went out with a guy who used to play basketball with Adam in Brooklyn. Adam still plays there like in the last few years all the time. People say he’s great, and a really nice guy.
Hold the fucking show. Sandler is no longer with us? Wow. Way to cut short something of a unicorn. I remember in high school riffing off the lunch lady skit and getting in trouble for it. Okay okay. Took 10 seconds of research to see that this is a farce. Cute joke.
That scene in "Click" where Adams character was rewinding the moment his Dad told him "I love you son" still brings me to tears to this day. Goodness gracious Adam is a rare talent.
@MUFC Zero chance. I fully accept that soccer is a huge sport, but it won't surpass high impact sports in North America. It's too soft and slow moving for a society that needs it's attention kept for every second. Even the NFL is getting boring, MLB too. Hockey might be the most exciting sport to watch, but environment limits it.
I did an interview with Adam Sandler decades ago. He was a superstar already and he was so genuine and friendly. He introduced himself to everyone in the studio. Very laid back and relaxed. I liked him even more after that day. Cool guy.
One of my favourite conversations between two actors. Brad is extremely insightful and interesting and Adam is so humble, polite and kind. So many people label Adam Sandler as a goofy comedy actor but his performance in uncut gems was brilliant. My favourite part of this interview is when Brad acknowledges that their is an inherent kindness at the heart or core of all Adam Sandler's comedy movies. It's so true
Of course! All people are worthy. All people want success. All people deserve a chance. When you keep them down… for all your effort… you will see them prevail. Despite any & all odds. The rest of us have their backs. They are not alone. Together… we can accomplish any DAMNED THING! The last one is his main… I believe?
This would also be an awesome interaction to study for psych students. Contrasting personalities, the body language (Brad being very loose and forward vs. Adam the comedian seemingly very reserved and kind of tense, etc.) It’s awesome.
Could less "work" be done by a "team"? They paid two celebs to sit in a room and talk. Especially in the podcast era that we live in, this isn't some grand idea..
Seriously. Whatever they're getting, it isn't enough. It is a joy to listen to intelligent artistes talk about their work, without ego or artifice. It is a beautiful thing.
Dude Adam Sandler does not get enough credit for the acting he does. We see the comedy movies he makes but when it comes to drama, dude it straight brilliant.
I grew up on Sandler. Billy Maddison, Happy Gilmore, etc. I didn't watch Click until I was like 23. Click is an absolute show piece of comedy and serious undertones. Sandler nailed it in that movie.
And even on his comedy rolls it looks believable, comedy is such a hard genre to pull off and he does it every time. He’s just naturally likable and funny and it was a pleasant surprise to watch him play this very different character in uncut gems.
Not entirely sure, but I think Jennifer Anniston is very close friends with Adam Sandler. They have also worked on a few films. I'm sure Brad Pitt naturally made friends with him due to the connection.
I loved Uncut Gems and always describe it the same way to others: it feels like you're walking in a crowded street and get the feeling someone is following you, so you keep walking faster. That last scene gave me such anxiety.
I felt that way the ENTIRE MOVIE. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie where I was holding my stomach and covering my eyes like “Oh no! What are you doing?!?” LOL

What is so great about this particular episode is that we're talking about one of the kings of acting, talking to one of the kings of wacky comedy movies (with all due respect). And you can see it in how they sit and behave. I like how Adam is really humble and shy here but is not letting that block him from having a good and open time. Whereas Brad, an, objectively speaking, way higher acclaimed actor, is sitting in a very inviting position and is definitely but also literally leaning towards Adam. It brings a unique and refreshing atmosphere to the video. Thank you for listening to my tedtalk.

It’s a pleasure listening to two great actors casually talking about our art, movies, comedy and what not. ❤ I gotta say Quentin’s movies always have it all. I remember watching D’jango (about 50 times now) and as brutal as it was, it was also funny, it was obscure, romantic, dramatic - it literally had it all. It is like that with all of his movies and that’s what’s so special about Tarantino and his art.
["This is the only professor to buy me a beer."]. What a great Adam Sandler moment shared by Pitt! Great conversation of two guys who genuinely appreciate each other and their work.
Adam has a kind heart, its very easy to notice in all characters he creates. Brad has totally opened up. Hes always been on top of the world, a perfectionist, always been a Golden boy type. Fight Club to Troy to Ocean's. Shows he was gonna win. Now he seems very humbled and his mindset has totally turned to attention of peoples hearts and trying to show a heart felt action towards people all around him. Really cool.
I've been waiting so long for them to make a actors on actors with Brad Pitt, and when they finally make it's with such an unexpected and great partner. I love it!
I look a lot at the gestures and what they say with their hands with the actors and Brad Pitt is so memorable with his finger pointing. Also here in the interview he always makes the same gestures as in his films and I love it.
You can be divorced and not hate each other. It doesn't always crash into flames. The Rock's business manager is his ex-wife. She's the one who told him to leave wrestling and move into acting. They talk to each other every day. It doesn't have to be a train wreck unless you make it that way.
Olly Lewis also did you leave out his last two movies because they suck compared to his earlier works? Because i agree, they do suck compared to his earlier works lmao
I dig this conversation. 'Uncut Gems' is a good movie but I wonder why no one brings up 'Reign Over Me' when they talk about Sandler's range. That movie was so dynamic. Don Cheadle & Adam Sandler together is such a force...
Brad Pitt is so humble. He has done some glorious comedies but he keeps saying “you/they comedy guys”. Always so self deferential. I hope one day deep inside he realises how wonderful an actor he truly is. Whether or not he has a partner or the industry validate and celebrate him at the level he deserves, I hope he truly gets it inside himself. We know, Brad, we know.
I love the scene in Oceans 11 with him and Topher Grace where he's asking Rusty to take a check for teaching them poker. And Brad just leans in on him. And Topher relents. Or we could just stick to cash Rusty: "There ya go"

I like how Adam Sandler is one of the few big comedians who can "turn off" the act. So many don't, many of which to their demise. He seems like a genuine, down to earth, simply nice guy. Uncut Gems was great, but his dramatic performance in Reign Over Me was by far his most outstanding.
Amanda M. I definitely agree with the last part. Hard to truly know about the rest. He definitely didn’t seem to “turn it off” in his younger days....reference SNL.
That is one thing that comedians do that annoys me. Joel Mchale is one of my favorite actors, I love the show Community and I love seeing him in other films and projects, but I hate watching him in talk show because he answers every question with a joke, and goes “no but seriously...” like I hate when comedians can’t switch it off like Sandler can
but in a good way, I feel like Adam is articulating that Brad quietly experiences when he acts. its funny that brad is more chill and adam is the outgoing one but brad does the talking and adam gives the queues.
These two, Pitt and Sandler, are very good in a conversation, they both bring it forward but are also great attentive listeners. It’s very nice to see one of these conversations where it actually feels like a conversation, not this constant cracking of jokes and speaking over each other like some have been. Thanks for sharing this, Variety!
I love how Brad & Adam give praise to each other and how Brad praises Tarantino............B & A are ridiculously talented superstars that could be stuck on themselves but they appear cool & genuine
Adam Sandler is one of those people who doesn’t like to meet eye to eye when talking. He always looks down when he’s talking but does look at the person who’s talking. The difference between their confidence level is quite mind-boggling.

Great comment. I saw it as well.
I like how Brad is genuinely interested in the way comedy actors approach their craft. He asked really insightful questions.
He clearly gets comedy cause he dropped the gem at 25:10
Actually, Brad is very good doing comedy himself whenever he's had to for a role. He's hilarious in burn after reading 😂
I think most people have an impression Brad is just an empty-headed good looking guy. He wouldn't have this long lasting career if that was a fact. He's obviously a smart bloke who knows where to put his eggs.
Pitt, Sandler and Ferrell in a Movie
I loved this this.
An hour of Adam Sandler admiring Brad Pitt who's being humble about it and compliments Adam even more. Loved it
I always thought Pitt seemed cool, kind, etc. however this talk gave me a whole new appreciation for Sandler. So humble, down-to-earth and such a sweetheart of a guy. He’s a superstar and it’s almost as if he doesn’t realize it. I wish more people acted like him.
I don’t think he does really realize it...he’s so real.
Him and Bill Hader are very similar in that way but yeah I completely agree
@@iMarzie I’m a big fan of Bill Hader but he can get a little pretentious sometimes, on the No Country for Old Men rewatchables podcast he was breaking down every single thing that happened as if it were the greatest moment in cinema history. Sandler.
Adam does seem like a genuinely nice guy. Very grounded for a man with his amount of fame and success.
Saw Adam Sandler with Kevin James getting harassed in Vegas by the paparazzi. They were like two inches from adams face and he never lost his cool. He was so nice and calmly said “guys please, we’re on vacation.”
Also went out with a guy who used to play basketball with Adam in Brooklyn.
Cute joke.

Thats an amazing story! what did you talk about??
He seems like a very nice man.

@Bea Kiddo whyy do you think that they are pieces of s'' [adam sandler to sandler to say the least]. ;_
[adam sandler]
One of my favourite conversations between two actors. Brad is extremely insightful and interesting and Adam is so humble, polite and kind. So many people label Adam Sandler as a goofy comedy actor but his performance in uncut gems was brilliant. My favourite part of this interview is when Brad acknowledges that their is an inherent kindness at the heart or core of all Adam Sandler's comedy movies. It's so true
I totally agree
Adam looks like he's astounded that Brad is even in the same room, and that's just so beautiful to see his humility in the moment.
They’re best mates went to same school
I don't know who Variety put in charge of these programs, but Variety needs to give the entire team a bonus.

@@roryslaine7896 I was just about to say Click was like the first movie i cried to as a young man

Now I need to see that happen!
Adam is so generous with his conversation, you can tell he never wants to take over too much, and gives Brad the room he needs.
What I like about brad Pitt is he seems like he’s genuinely interested in other people. He’s a mega star probably more so than other people he usually encounters but he is not arrogant about it.
whatever9042 he seems like he’d be fun to have a beer with and shoot the jazz

Adam is the shy girl and Brad tries to make her feel comfortable. Seriously though, both seem like nice guys you can see yourself hanging out with.
I look a lot at the gestures and what they say with their hands with the actors and Brad Pitt is so memorable with his finger pointing. Also here in the interview he always makes the same gestures as in his films and I love it.
Jennifer Anistons Ex hanging out with one of her closest friends... love it lol
I know!
First thing that I thought ! Lol
Ashley Buffa they’ve been cool for a while now. Great convo though.
You can be divorced and not hate each other. It doesn't always crash into flames. The Rock's business manager is his ex-wife. She's the one who told him to leave wrestling and move into acting. They talk to each other every day. It doesn't have to be a train wreck unless you make it that way.
Sandler and Aniston were childhood friends, she chose friends over SNL. Sandler has known her way longer then Brad Pitt, regardless who cares.
That moment at 13:01 where Brad tells Adam he loved his film you can see the appreciation in Adam's eyes.
"He's good, that Tarantino."
-Brad Pitt 2019
Deadbeat Affiliates where does he say that
Like 2 minutes in
Jacob Dean you’re telling me that reservoir dogs, the hateful 8, kill bill and django unchained are crap? You sir are a minority
Olly Lewis Reservoir dogs came out before pulp
Olly Lewis also did you leave out his last two movies because they suck compared to his earlier works?
Because i agree, they do suck compared to his earlier works lmao
Jennifer Anniston’s ex husband and best friend having a conversation
Are they actually best friends?
ok and ?
That's what a thought too
@@thatswhatsup0493 Yeah Sandler and Anniston have been close since high school. But Sandler would have been friends with both while they were married.
Brad Pitt met Adam in the mid-90's before he dated Aniston
Or we could just stick to cash
Rusty: "There ya go"
Lol I don't think we need to be feeling bad for Brad Pitt, think he's enjoying himself just fine
@Billy Overton people who are enjoying themselves “just fine” don’t have substance dependence issues. Losing your children and battling a narc ex partner in court are not easy to go through...even self effacing people need care and safety.
Dont project your envy onto him. Try empathy, he’s a real person.
Take care ✌🏼
@@Rubylove48 His substance usage has been exaggerated and he was never dependant. Surprising how people ignore all of Jolie's issues and addictions. He took the heat and has to deal with people exaggerating his substance usage or drinking. Unlike other celebs, there were no major red flags or severe cases where people were ever concerned about him as far as substance usage. He did everything he could include give up unnecessary drug & alcohol use to get joint custody and to prove he is a fit father while Jolie's behavior was covered up because he did not want an ongoing war with her.
Agreed @Anon S
I personally agree he likely wasn’t an addict. but he himself stated he was dependent. Either way, my point is that he deserves empathy like anyone. We are saying the same thing.
Perhaps you didn’t read my comments completely?
Take care.
He definitely didn’t seem to “turn it off” in his younger days....reference SNL.
always been partial to Punch Drunk as his most outstanding;)
That is one thing that comedians do that annoys me. Joel Mchale is one of my favorite actors, I love the show Community and I love seeing him in other films and projects, but I hate watching him in talk show because he answers every question with a joke, and goes “no but seriously...” like I hate when comedians can’t switch it off like Sandler can
I agree that Reign Over me is his best. Such a great and original movie.
THANK YOU! Reign Over Me is so underrated.
Adam Sandler has never been cut off mid-sentence this many times.
If anyone had a pass to cut off Sandler, its Brad Pitt.
Maybe that's why Angelina and him aren't together hahaha
but in a good way, I feel like Adam is articulating that Brad quietly experiences when he acts. its funny that brad is more chill
and adam is the outgoing one but brad does the talking and adam gives the queues.
Anmeldn nah Brad is so extroverted, Sandler is actually an introvert and super shy.
Ta...ta...ta...today junior!!!
Notice the intensity of these two, both sitting forward on the edge of their seats… this was one of the most genuine conversations possible.
This conversation is a perfect example of matching energy levels.
You summoned it up perfectly!
Adam Sandler's performance in Punch Drunk Love is criminally underrated.
Reign over me. One of his best roles. Very underrated.
@@Squirts777 that's the one with don Cheadle?
yes... he was so brilliant...
@@Squirts777 sorry, i know you're not my google search, i was just trying to remember the title earlier... he was such a tragic character...
kicked arse with his performance
I love how Brad & Adam give praise to each other and how Brad praises Tarantino............B & A are ridiculously talented superstars that could be stuck on themselves but they appear cool & genuine
Adam is a humble wonderful man. The fact that praise from anyone still touches him is amazing.
Adam Sandler is one of those people who doesn’t like to meet eye to eye when talking. He always looks down when he’s talking but does look at the person who’s talking. The difference between their confidence level is quite mind-boggling.
It’s fricken Brad Pitt. If you look him in the eyes for too long, you get lost in his gaze, and then he has you. Sandler is using an old tactic, and barely made it out of there alive!
Dwight Schrute lol good point. Well played, sir.
Mark Normand
Matii Stiles thats quite common don’t stress yourself out. I was like that in my first year or so of high school. Just find your confidence.. whatever it is that makes you find it.. working out, maybe it’s trying out that new hairstyle you’ve always wanted to try out. I don’t know, but you do! Regardless of the situation, just force yourself to make that eye contact for at least 3 seconds. I promise you before you know it you will be making eye contact without really thinking about it. It really does make life a lot less stressful my man. And remember. There are people with no sight that would kill to make that eye contact we’re able to make! Love brother!
if I was talking to BRAD PITT, I don't think I'd be any better lol
Adam Sandler seems like such a cool dude to hang out with.
you must be jewish
@@fdsjlaf and you must be a fucking idiot.
Only if he's willing to loan out cash.
Insane One wtf are you insane! Yup!
I totally agree, @thevisi0nary And wtf is wrong with the idiots making either anti-semitic or at least borderline anti-semitic comments? Seriously, get a fucking life & try acting like a human being, because when you say stupid stuff like "you must be jewish" or "only if he's willing to loan out cash", I highly doubt that you know how normal people act & respond in social atmospheres.
I can't wait for Brad to talk about Adam's new movie Hustle. It is Oscar worthy and everyone needs to watch it.
I had no idea this movie existed… excited to check it out now
@@TDOLLA it's pretty good.
