    Start with the basics, remove the board and do the inspection of the board. I actually learned this from when I started in the old days and from many of you guys on this platform. Yes we do learn from others mistake. Thank you.

      How many time did you take an entire machine apart , every screw , to realise when finished that you didnt need to do half that work to fix the problem ........... been there dozens of times .......... a chap that knows his stuff is not that inefficent

    Nice work Sorin, but this time I was ahead of you. I was screaming check the other side of the board when you kept heating the one spot. I may have a slight advantage as I have been trouble shooting electronic circuits for over 50 years. After that long one learns to always look for the unexpected to pop up, as it will. Great work though, and please keep it up as it’s great knowledge to have.

      @@Brianck1971 First of all, you don't know me. You don't know what my skills are. Second - there is a visible difference on a infrared camera when you look at a hotspot and a diffused source of heat. And here it was clearly visible that the heat is diffused.

    I kept saying "other side of the board." It's become very clear from your videos what that looks like under a thermal cam. It's like a diffuse heat that doesn't seem to originate from any particular component. I'm sure a short in the board layers would look similar, but it's worth checking before digging too much.

    Amazing work Sorin 👍 I would have chickened out and bought a used Motherboard off eBay, thinking this one was too badly burnt. I have thermal cameras that offer manual control of the temperature span and centre temperature. Combined with a close up focus capability that enables me to see the exact location of the hottest point on the PCB. Your IPA tests worked well but I like to see the absolute hottest point on the PCB using the camera as it makes life easier. If your camera has a close up lens available, I recommend buying one as it is like having a thermal microscope ! Great work and an amazing result considering the damage and components that you had to remove. 👍👍

    This is not "dodgy" , this is genius. Compared to others who repair things, it would have considered a "no fix" or NTG (No F#ckn Good) but your confidence of we can fix it when you pulling all the layers off and components off was just amazing. No video quiet like this out there.

    Before you removed more layers of the board I thought, why he doesn't check the other side to see if there's something wrong there, and I was right lol. Maybe due to my inexperience if it was me, I couldn't fix the issue after all, but I certainly wouldn't have removed more tracks 😅
    I'm glad it worked for you, but for me maybe I would've ruined the laptop by removing those tracks LOL

    I wouldn't be able to fix it because I don't have the experience or the skills but at least I've learned something from you even though the board looks very scary to work on.. the customer is very lucky really, and he should be very happy too because not every hands would be able to fix that messed up board ..well done Sorin!

    we think it's common sense to remove the board and inspect, before we butcher it.... yes we know it's a hurry mistake or a over confidence one, but no worries if it works... great job

    It's easy to say but look at the motherboard from both sides before you start fixing it. A very important thing!

    I could swear it was on the other side by the look of thermal camera how it was diffusing heat. :).
    Maybe you didn't see 2 issues of caps on both sides of laptops, but i also never saw on your videos track layers shorted at deep level inside board. It was always short components most of the times. At least on your videos :).
    The morale of the story, if you see a diffused heat with thermal camera " check the other side of board!"

    "How many boards have you seen with 2 blown caps" My personal record has been 5 on an old toshiba sattelite. That one was far beyond my skill to fix, especially since I was first learning repair at that time. Seeing multiple in different spots is rare though, repaired laptops a while now and seen that twice I think. One of them being that board with 5 blown caps and... lots of other burned things.

    I'm not gonna lie... that was alot of work.. way beyond my skill level.. because if you scraped out any tiny thin tracks underneath, or they were burnt.. that's just another rabbit hole.. which may never be fixable... i would have recommended a new board.. even a non-functioning board is better than that.. lol.. I don't know if i would trust that over the long term.. very good video tho.

    I was screaming at YT take out the motherboard it is on the other side of the motherboard. If you watched at the vias in the motherboard they were drying up the IPA quickly.

    If this laptop was sent to "that guy" he will "deem it a no fix" and he will take a "bench fee" and he will consider the laptop "junk" without even trying.
