Its amazing how electronics are sensitive. One little cap was making the whole unit not work anymore. It costs like a fraction of a cent. That's why i love the right to repair!
I know that no one will believe me, but a long time ago, when everything was PTH only, I troubleshot a shorted carbon PTH resistor. Something that I never would believe could exist. I carried that PTH resistor, labeled in my toolbox for years. I think I lost it when I left the NAVY. I showed it to many people, measured it right in front of them. It was always a great topic of conversation.
That flux powder stuff is great, didn't knew about that method ! Putting even the smallest glob of flux i knew about but on very low heat short the powder is so much better !
I have a 2018 precision 7530 that had the same symptoms as described in this video. However, the root cause was not a short circuit, it was a bad charger. I started by replacing my charging port and when that did not resolve my problem, I ordered an aftermarket charger online and that new charger resolved my issue, my laptop began charging again. WHEW! Glad it wasn't the mobo.
@NorthridgeFix Great "simple" repair of course excluding the immense disassembly reassembly process of the machine. It would be no other way that the repair is buried somewhere deep on a machine more complicated to disassemble. I've done a few of these, but I have it start to finish. No big Boss to help while I repair another. Prescription bottles with a dry erase marker are good for the many parts of each machine. Also a magnetic mat and a magnetic parts tray that mechanics use are great ways to keep the screws in check. Most notable for this video was that the ending was the most played section as people studied Alex's work area to see what he uses to do repairs AND videos. How a bout a video sometime with the description section listing the make and model or at least a decent description of what's there in the work area for those that are deciding to do the work? If people know what works for you they would waste less time getting the wrong equipment. Example: you always mention everything you use in the shop is available on the website, but the video production equipment lighting, computer build switcher, cameras, screen, filters and some miscellaneous tools etc are not there.
Thanks, sir, for all the videos. i have a problem with my tablet dell Venue 11 Pro,no light power, when I checked the power charger it's good 19.5v so i don't know how i chacked the dc power jack board
Would you know what causes a Dell XPS 8500 Series desktop PC not turning on. The power button was tested and it's working fine but the pins on the motherboard that connect the power button are not working as well. I touched it with a screwdriver but does not turn on the PC
have tablette dell venue T07G 11 pro ,I left it updating at night, and in the morning I found it turned off also the power light is off I tried most solutions in the dell's sit but always still off,I checked the power charger it's good it gives 19.5v and when I checked the connectors battery emplacement I found 2.23v, my friend tell me you must change the battery, but I think perhaps the Dc power jack board of computer is it out, please could you help me
just had my 2nd Alienware laptop die just 'randomly' saying it cant identify the battery... nothing wrong with the battery or charger just refuses now to charge because it cant ID the battery...
Dell Inspiron task icon right side such as wifi, battery speaker etc all flickering I have reinstall windows and removed all perpherials even not solved solution please
@@NorthridgeFix After such a repair, the video card no longer works at full capacity. I work in a workshop in another country and we came across more than 5 such models with the same breakdown. Replacing the transistor did not help the video card work at full capacity. Although the processor is working properly. Any ideas?
Boss of all bosses can disassemble and resemble the great pyramid of Giza
He does in fact resemble the great pyramid of Giza

Hope you get well soon Alex. Thank you for all the great videos lately.

At the end..."Hey what are you doing here!" lol. Typical dad.
If you don't have the rosin (flux) atomizer, freezing sprays also works very well.
Isopropyl is another very popular option.
Rubbing candle wax onto the components is another option that does not vaporize as you are getting things ready to inject voltage.
he got all of them
Love "the bad guy" fan art, haha! Great work as always!
Alex you make this work look easy
Great Job Alex! Straight to the point as usual!
