    On the Boss Delay/Reverb product page, the one-line description of the DD-3, "Digital delay pedal with characteristic warm tone.". Your video bares that out for me. I like all the features of the DD-7 but I really like the warm tone of the DD-3 better, at least for guitar. For keyboards and other instruments the DD-7 might be my preferred pedal.

    Outstanding video👍........Literally exactly what I needed to hear. I use a Brent Hinds with a DD-3 in the loop. It’s works ok.....it sounds a little bright & hard though. I’ve been wondering if the DD-7, DD-8, or DD200 would have a fatter/less bright quality? It appears the sound quality between the DD-3 & DD-7 is the same? Thank you for this video....

    Just got dd3 from music bliss. It sound so 80's delay and so good. Looking forward to get dd7 for modern sounding. My opinion both good. Just that dd3 more to 80's rock and modern metal use dd7. This is personal opinion.

    Great video! I had the original 3 ten years ago now replacing that with 3t because I miss it. Have been using the 7 and in stereo wow, just like your vid the 3 does shine stronger on single note repeats than 7 and any of their amplifier cosm features. Thanks for the great vid.

    I have both pedals, the DD-3 I’ve had for over 30 years and it’s so banged up that I have to manually click it on, it’s off the pedalboard for it’s own protection. DD-7 has a lot more to offer, but man do I miss the DD-3 in its old spot.

    Great demo. I love ambient guitar and have gathered a large collection of delay and reverb pedals. I love that dd3 sound but l would always reach for the dd7, strymon volante and the dig and the flint, not much for the dd3 . l would never sell it.

      DD5 FTW tho... simplicity of the 3 but with tap tempo. A MUST if you are stacking 2 delays so you can sync them up. Carbon copy deluxe 1/4 note and DD5 dotted 1/8 is the way and the truth.

  • @vitnemec8365

    Subtle, yet clear difference, but not enough to make me look for DD-3, which really does sound more musical in some applications. DD-7 still does it for me, never felt even temped to replace it with different compact delay pedal.

  • @cwir88
    @cwir88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think DD-3 wins, at least in terms of tone. It is digital, yet the repeats tend to decay in kind of warm and natural manner, while DD-7 seems to produce more digitalised and artificial tone.
    However if you are looking for compact-sized, versatile delay then I guess DD-7 is a way to go.

    • @CHOPERUS23
      @CHOPERUS23 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well it does say Digital Delay on the pedal so you'd expect that kind of sound.

  • @harleyrider9166
    @harleyrider9166 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    DD3- sounds more analog and much less digital than the DD7. The DD-7 sort of sounded compressed, like it was holding back on each note. The DD-3 had a little more ring/trail to the notes.

    does the decay of the dd-7 continue after you disable the box? on the dd-3, when you stomp it off, the delay keeps going until it fully decays. on most delay pedals, it cuts off immediately when pressed.

    • @MusicBlissMalaysiaTV
      @MusicBlissMalaysiaTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes it continues....all buffered bypass pedals will have trails...only true bypass pedals will cut off the trails....

  • @yeauld
    @yeauld 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Through my high end studio monitors the DD7 sounded less harsh, warmer and a little bit darker, and on top of that you have analog mode and stereo outputs
    Dont pay attention to what everybody is saying, and dont fall for the hype around famous guitar players using the DD3, back then is all they had, also not all the time older pedals must sound better than newer ones, use your own ears and you be the judge !!!

    • @Jeymez
      @Jeymez 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ye Auld: to me they sounded pretty similar, but with the DD-7 having more features.
      some people like that, but there are people that don't. i think it's a matter of personal taste, and i agree something older doesn't mean better all the time.
      i do like the tap function of the DD-7, that's how i found this video.
      i was curious because Boss is usually more known for there drive pedals than delay,
      but i saw something about this pedal, and found this video.
      like anything though, especially pedals i think it's best to try different ones in a store to really see if it's something you want.
      Pedals are one of the hardest things to get a gauge on in a TH-cam video,
      but he gave some nice samples. i didn't know there was a DD-3, i was looking for a video on the DD-7 because that's what popped up for me.
      im not as knowledgeable about pedals as other people are,
      but i do have an ear for sound as well as music. i know what overdrive reverb and delay are, but there's so many pedal manufacturers out there you can easily get lost.
      but even if your not the most knowledgeable, if we like what were hearing it becomes an option. one thing you don't have to worry about with Boss is quality,
      most of what they put out is pretty good. i know about them the most, because when i started getting into pedals Boss was the first pedal i bought it in a store.
      i liked what i was hearing and bought it,
      however they can get a little pricey if you buy some of there reverb pedals,
      but a few of the one's I've tried were worth the 99 dollars i paid for in 07.
