The BOSS DD-7 Digital Delay is a guitar effects pedal that takes the best features from its predecessors and expands their creative potential. You get Modulation Delay mode, classic modeled Analog Delay mode, External pedal control options, longer delay time, and more. Even with the best-selling delays in compact-pedal history, BOSS continues to push the envelope and innovate. - เพลง
The best pedal I ever bought. Extremely versatile, its like 4 pedals in one. If you are considering buying one, don't hesitate, just go for it, it really is immense.
0:44 Andy's magic hand strikes again!
Trust me, there are amazing things accidentally created with Delay, you'll never hear again...
You forgot to mention, Andy, that if you hold the footswitch for three seconds, it enters a tap/tempo mode, such as on the BF-3 Flanger pedal. Then hold for a few seconds to go back to on/off mode. Learned that by accident trying it in a music store after watching this demo.
that at sec 45 ... how did you do that!!???
5:10 A wolf at the door XDD
I've owned one of these for 5 years amongst many others and its the best delay pedal you can own. Looping, analogue, digital, reverse, modulation - this does it all very, very well. Brilliant.
This is my fav boss pedal. So many options and things you can do with it. The loop function is great for writing songs cuz u can unplug the guitar and plug in a bass and loop bass over the guitar tracks. I highly recommend buying this.
Thanks for this, my brother gave me all of his old guitar stuff and I had no idea what this pedal did.
Guys, you make the best demos. Thank you.
Boss pedals are very well constructed and they're modulation effects are superb! Also, they are easy to mod or repair. Technicians love them.
reverse tape sounds ... adored that, have that "Im only sleeping" and John Frusciante vibe, dont really want to buy this pedal just for that especially when i have the RC-3.
Just bought this last week.. Trust me guys.. this thing is an absolute monster. Highly recommended.. can't get any better.
the intro sounded exceptionally awesome
Great pedal with stereo in. I love it.
0:45 he just changed the time with the tap pedal... with his foot... the black plug in the right side.
@EleTTricChurch This is the Reverse Delay mode. It sounds a little like a volume swell but it's actually the delay playing backwards. Try also putting the mix all the way up.
-PGS Crew
Correct! I think that the hand waver was to show what he was doind WITH the expression pedal.
I keep the wolf from the door
But he calls me up
Calls me on the phone
Tells me all the ways that he's gonna mess me up
love it, another reason to get this pedal
OMG YES!! THE REVERSE SOUNDS!! *jizz* fuck now i really need this pedal
that sounds soooooooooooooooooooooo good. Love boss delays.
i feel happy to have this one....:D great choice
With the right distortion and taking your time with throwing those knob's you'll be "amazed" at what you can put out with that lil delay!
Wolf At The Door - Radiohead, nice
Depends on what you're looking for. I have the DD-7 and like it because I can use the tap tempo with it, but if you just prefer having "warmer" repeats, then some prefer the DD-3, but I don't think you can go wrong either way. They're both good, IMO.
This pedal is awesome.
shaiz, with that exp pedal and the modulate, i believe this is a great competition for the memory boy.
this are great pedals.
awesome video, as always (:
For those of you who are thinking of buying this pedal, I highly recommend It. It is extremely versatile, plus it is a great value for a looper, and multiple delay sound's. 5/5
@Bluesyloosy1994 if you hold down the pedal for two seconds, it will switch into tap tempo mode and you can tap the tempo in. then hold it down for another 2 seconds and it'll switch back to off/on mode--you don't need an external footswitch (but its super helpful).
What a nice standard pedal. I mean - you gotta admit that you could use this pedal in just about any rig. I am thinking about getting one just for my synth.
The analog emulation mode is so convincing, it made me go out and buy this pedal!
Tried the DD-20 just before that but for some reason the analog mode on it wasn't as good as on the DD-7. So I went back to the store and exchanged it for this one. Also on the DD-20 you cannot use an expression pedal, only a footswitch like an FS-5.
Thanks Andy for a convincing demo of this great Boss pedal!
I know it says you uploaded this 4 hours ago, but for some reason it just popped into my subscription box. This one cool pedal though, I love all the tricks you can do with it.
thiss guy really knows how to play guitar!
Thanks.. Very nice review..
i have used this with a harmonica mike absolutley nutty
andy can make any pedal sound good.
love this pedal. mine is just pure gold. =)
queen for a day jesus lizard hell yes
what the hell happened at 44 seconds? Am i a dumb-ass or something? explain...
Anyone know the tune's name at 1:50 or so? Sounds very U2-ish, but I can't exactly place it...Thanks!
that reverse delay is wicked!!!
WOLF AT THE DOOR, YEAH!
@TheAlex380 Its an expression pedal plugged into the DD7 to control the tempo of it, the bottom input on the right side of the pedal is the spot for it, can really make for some interesting sounds
@Wiltonibanez something to remember about loopers like the rc-2 is if you use built in effects on your amp you need an effects loop on your amp or the drum tracks (which the rc-2 has) will also be distorted if you are using built in distortion with no effects loop. if you use pedals though you should be fine.
2:40 THE FUCKEN JESUS LIZARD
increase feedback to high/infinite repeats, then screw around with the delay time (the time between each repeat). making it faster will make the sound higher pitched, making it slower will make it lower pitched. screwing around with it will result in that weird sound you heard, but it's pretty hard to use it to reliably make the same sound which is why guitarists almost universally only use this at the end of a song (rolling the feedback back to fade the sound out)
O_O yet another kind of double-D's i can enjoy
This pedal + a EHX Holy Grail Plus= Heaven
@bloc22 actually you CAN use the loop w. the delay effect applied over the top of it, it's pretty sweet. i ended up buying the pedal anyways. after you set your loop, you can play with the delay effect over the top of it. you can't loop w. the delay effect itself (which kinda sucks), but you CAN play a clean rhythm loop, then turn on the delay effect with the opposite pedal, and "solo" over the top of it w. delay. but once you do this, you can't go back to re-edit the loop.
Wolf at the door by Radiohead. But it's not using any delay i think..
@Foals4Life when looping you press the pedal twice if you want to stop the looping and press it once if you want to redo the loop, and its way better than a dl4
good review
@Bluesyloosy1994 no, you can hold down the pedal for like 3 seconds to engage the built in tap tempo. you also have to hold it down 3 seconds to turn it off. where as if you had the separate tap pedal you just press the delay pedal to turn it on and off.
This pedal is fantastic, I can't recommend it enough. If you shop around you can find one under £120.
my old dd6 just crapped out after nearly twenty years lol...was going to get this but i think that TC electronic has won me over because of a sweet deal i just found on a used one :B sick review nonetheless!
It's one of the modes, Modulate
@MathJammer He used the expression pedal to change the delay time, causing that warped loop sound.
@aonello I've got a looper and now looking at this as a delay pedal. I think the loop station is a great product and you should buy it if you really want a looper. Looper functions in delay pedals are very limited for most I think. Plus you can't use delay and looper at the same time which is what I really want.
I have mixed feelings about these little Boss pedals -- some are better than others. The DD-3 and DD-7 are definitely some of the better ones. I own three delay pedals: Line 6 DL4, E-H Memory Boy analog, and DD-7 digital. There are always two of them on my pedalboard lately -- one for slapback and one for ambience -- and I cant decide which combination is best. I like the DD-7 for its slapback especially, but it also has some neato effects like reverse. The DD-7 is definitely a worthwhile pedal!
I once plugged a mic into one of these, and stuck the mic inside my piano. Very cool noise.
what is the difference between analog and digital ?
and how about modulation ?
holy shit, that's my favorite fucking song!
3:30 Brian May style :D
@samthehiggins I think the feedback was set to max, so it getted to an infinite loop, you can do it with all the better delay pedals and processors
Can you elaborate on what you did on analog delay? "I've set the expression pedal up to control the repeats"
I thought the expression pedal controls the delay time, you delay time did not change, so what did when you "set it up" Analog delay sounds awesome btw. might buy this just for that
Nice radiohead tone for the ending part
PGS, I know it's an old demo but I think you should do another demo to show the stereo delay effects of this unit. Unlike other delays it's not just the same effect applied to stereo mode, rather the modes are different in the stereo setting and a few unique sounds can be obtained by using the unit in stereo
@DarkAngelEU no an expression pedal..it controls the "effect" via a footswitch..it functions like a volume pedal but it controls the effect and not the volume
The Jesus Lizard!! 2:29
Sweet riff Never heard it on it's own. Very cool.
Yeah half room reverbe is neato.
got 2 of them they do the job but nothing will replace my mark1 boss dm2
the cheap belcat delay is good to
gotta get one one day
My Boss DD-20 has been having all kinds of technical difficulties lately, and I'm thinking about downsizing to one of these. I really like seeing the BPM on a screen though... As for other super awesome delay pedals the Strymon timeline is just way too expensive.
Good pedal. The only thing about it as previously mentioned is that none of the effect delays tap dotted eighth notes. You can tap triplets to get that effect though. Also, I recommend an external tap. It's annoying that you can't turn off the pedal right away without one. You have to hold it and then turn it off.
I´m going to buy this one this xmas!
I have had the dd3!
It would probably sound hot if someone tried the reverse mode with the Steve Vai whammybar flick!
He used an expression pedal. Had nothing to do with his hand, other than to look like the beast that he is!
-Ed
Awesome
nice!
@alcarcifi depends how much you like dirty repeats. the mxr is really dark voiced, i like that some people dont.
@undeadcress exactly what it sounds...plays the delayed note backwards. If you use the level knob up to max while in this mode, it will cut off the dry signal
@Wiltonibanez the boss rc2 is a medium priced pedal. its is pretty good too.
@ASpanishguy The time knob is changed which creates the delays to self-oscillate.
When andy mentions the "trails function" at 1:25 does he mean that the repeats decay naturally when you turn the pedal off instead of cutting out all at once?
Andy! What that guitarcable you used in this demo video?
0:43 he uses an expression pedal and rocks it back and forth quickly
So I sent my DS1 to Keeley for modification lol
it sounds so much better
it has very tuby marshall kinda sound
gotta luv it
The first setting is what I leave mine on >.>
the finger flicking in the intro made me think it has an optoresistor or something for delay time. Then I saw the expression pedal was in. Silly LukaFilipan. Still convinced me to get one tho ;D
3:30 I thought you were gonna break into Roundabout
@greenham1
Andy uses expression pedal for real-time delay time change while playing. So you can hear that sound. Something like that. :)
This makes me want that so bad
thats what i was going to say... a wolf at the door in the end of the video, love radiohead
So is this delay the best for post rock, Explosions In The Sky type stuff?
I meen it seems to have the most options and would prolly sound pretty swell with some reverb.
hahaha andy does so much weird stuff in this video, like the ghosts around 3:17 and the weird hand movement at :44
@aonello No because the looper is a separate mode and if you switch it from hold to another mode the loop will stop
hahaha the guy uses the force at 0:45 !!!
2:20 Ending to Cello Song by The Books? O.o love that lick
@GoatKiller1000 Yeah, set it to 800ms and use tap tempo. tap in quarter notes and you're good to go.
i am locking a delay pedal for thing like echo etude malmsteen, but i don't understand very much about that which is the best this, the boss dd-3, mxr anolog, or tc????
@ProGuitarShopDemos so u re nt using the expression pedal on tht jimi Hendrix sound, right?
what's the little jam in the background when andy's going over all the features?
