    1. Don’t try to be a gimbal.
    2. Plan your camera movements.
    3. Keep your movements short and concise.
    4. Use foreground.
    5. Avoid shooting all shots from your point of view. (get different angles)
    6. Reverse focus (this is genius btw!)
    7. Keep your camera still. (add movement in-post)
    8. Embrace handheld look. (try and keep ur camera study-add some weight or a camera strap)
    THANKS DANIEL!
    This was so beneficial

Danial is great, but college gives you credentials, contacts and hands on experience with industry level gear....so ya, there's theory and practice and contacts. you need ALL three if you want to make it in the film industry.
Marketing, business, all that stuff apply as well, never short change yourself on education.

Modern Slice honestly I get where you’re coming from but not necessarily... I have a BFA in IAM and I can tell you a lot of schools really don’t help with networking or connections you basically spent 26k for a Apiece of paper.. and I have few friends who landed a lot of work and is self taught...

Make (at max) 2 sec long clips that you can do with a very stable grip, dont walk, use 50 per cent slow mo, warp stabilize (most of the time not more than 5%). Profit

@@danielschiffer i wouldnt recommend the zooming in post tho, i think it doesnt look good... it gives this kind of a cheap look. but ofc its a matter of taste... i would add some other movement to the static shots, for example from top to bottom (when you use letterboxes you can do it without losing any quality). just a very slow movement... if you take a handheld static shot with a little shake, slow it down, add some movement from top to bottom and stabilize it just a little bit so it still has a little shake, the added movement will look very natural even tho it was added in post. works best with wide shots. or at least this is my experience. just something to think about 🙌 nice banana btw!
besides that i think that a little shake in slowmo adds... idk how to say this. its just more interesting with the shake. everyone uses gimbals today. perfectly stable shots everywhere. i say boring. :D

The focus reveal reverse has been a super handy tip, just make sure to know what is in the background, eg. if there are people or other things that normally go forward in the background, they would be going in reverse, unless of course it fits the story.

Man, I love that idea of starting in focus, pull away OOF, and reversing the clip! If you said you went to film school, it would actually be discouraging and make it feel like these techniques are out of reach. I'm much happier to hear you didn't. Results are all that matter and the video productions you make are wildly good.
