Idk who is trying to convince you that ramen will rat under some mysterious "other circumstances", but as a person who has put ramen into my mouth at LEAST once, I'm with you, there was 0 chance that was gonna work. But boy is it always entertaining to see anyone try haha! 💖
Glass noodles, maybe; they're reasonably robust if I recall correctly (after all, they have to be soaked before you can even cook them). Would be cool to see what happened if you soaked them and crocheted, then cooked the finished piece so it was all transparent and shiny!!
@@BlazingKhioneus I would test this if I knew where my iron was. If anyone reading this decides to test it, make sure to put parchment paper between the tinsel and iron so the tinsel won't melt onto the iron.

I just love this series! And the camo tinsels made me want to see an "invisible" rat made of transparent fishing wire. Should also snap less easily :P Also, don't ever listen to the haters, you're doing great! You're not afraid of showing failures and the realness of your content is just so endearing! More rat please 🐀
Potential material ideas for you (some are more feasible than others): - "pasta" from the vegetable pasta makers (zucchini, squash, etc) - dental floss - fishing line - obsolete charger cables - metal chains - tape - parachute cord - hair - hay - aluminum foil - flowers (like a daisy chain) - ribbon - play-dough or clay - regular bread dough (bonus points if you bake it) - plant roots - vines
Hair is not an uncommon material, and I will place my bets on natural hair (not synthetic) working very well. Mourning jewellery used to be made with human hair, especially rings, occassionally broaches. Also, wool is just hair, it just comes from an animal. So human hair would absolutely work. As for the gross factor, well, human hair gets washed. Regularly. With soap! So it is a lot cleaner than animal hair, too!
Your tinsel rat kinda reminds me of a cat toy, I think you should name it Cat Toy The Rat Toy. Also I am throwing my suggestion of "fishing line" into the hat once again. I feel like it will be easy enough to work with since its already on a spool, but the size will be about as small as the tinsel and might be kinda hard to bend and work with depending on what you get. I also want to see what it would look like once you try to stuff it, I feel like it'll look really funny. Can't wait to see whatever you work with next!
Honestly i would love a video/multiple videos that show how different yarn sizes make different sized rats. Imagine a really big fluffy rat next to a micro crochet rat. But either way i love this series and it makes me want to start crocheting plushies.
If you really want a noodle rat, might I suggest making your own? You could purposefully overknead the pasta dough, making it bad to eat but more structurally sound for all the additional gluten!
i love your videos, it feels like i’m on a facetime with my friend while they desperately try to make a rat out of random things. always so excited when you upload also the garfield pants are FIREEEE watched this wearing my garfield pj pants
Maybe try thin cable wire! You can get them in different colours so you can pick what coloured rat you make. Maybe green or blue or red, so they're different to what you have already. Other ideas: Plastic washing line Foam rope Old tights Strawberry laces!! Wheat/some kind of long grass, like people use to make baskets. Snake shedding Also if you try the ramen video again - maybe do spaghetti instead, or rice vermicelli (only *briefly* soaked in hot water since it softens very fast.)
what I love about thise series is that when I see things and think "you could probably crochet with that" the answer is uasually "no!", or "but you shouldn't".
The joy of tinsel rat lifted the clouds of my depression long enough to laugh out loud for like six minutes straight. Such a powerful creation. Incredibly blessed creature.
Plastic bagggs, please, in my country we had a tradition of crocheting plastic milk bags into floor mats and the shoe cleaning mats to put on the ground outside the door. It is a lost form of art now
For an easier matterial to try, elastic cord (like the type used for masks and kids' diy bracelets) would be pertty cool. It's not too expensive if you get it on a bulk roll and most sellers have multiple color options. If you're revisitting matterials (like with the retring ramen/noodles), floral wire could be a good try of something similar to pipecleaners.
I'm so sorry...but watching you fight that yarn like a pile of tiny, slippery, shiny eels was genuinely hilarious. 😂 Thanks for sharing your hard work with us!
Fellow crocheter with a helpful suggestion: try using Korean sweet potato noodles! They are a really cool brown/grey translucent color and are veeeery stretchy so they would probably be a lot more resilient to crocheting 😊 Good luck!!!!❤
i was talking about this series with a couple of friends and we ended up discussing what the worst material to rat would be, including: - asbestos (it's apparently fibrous?) - the little stringy bits you get when you peel an orange - sewing thread
Crocheters use single strand of embroidery floss for microcrochet all the time. Same thickness. I’ve seen granny squares made from crochet floss and made into a blanket for a Barbie doll as well as clothing. In fact, DMC is now selling the single strand on a spool for crocheters.
Oh! I know of someone making a human-sized granny square blanket out of sewing thread. Infinityandless, I think? As you can imagine, it’s a slow process

Hello! Normally I don’t ever comment but there’s a group of students from FIT that were able to knit an alginate and chitosan mixture. When formed initially, the mixture has a similar noodle-like texture. Obviously the properties are different but perhaps this could be the key to unlocking the noodle conundrum? If you were to ask me, I think failure is part of this series. Sometimes, materials can simply not rat and that’s okay. Even great scientists have to accept the null hypothesis now and again!
I have a few ideas for materials you can try! I’d suggest clear bracelet string, ribbon, and maybe floral/armature wire. Idk I don’t crotchet so I don’t really know how these would work, just wanted to leave a suggestion
Maybe try the fresh noodles, uncooked, from an asian grocery? Fresh noodles are, well, just dough that's been cut into strips and dusted with flour. Once the rat is made, THEN you cook it like the worlds most discomforting dumpling.

There is very inexpensive synthetic hair extensions but they’re very slippery, so you’d have to do a little research into using a product to give them more grip, maybe like hair spray or gel or glue, but then it would be probably impossible to work with.
