The twine rat reminds me of my dearly beloved rat Nala! She was the first true pet I ever owned, and I loved her to death. She's been gone for over a decade at this point, but you never forget those goofy little chaos potatoes. I'd love it if you named your rat after her, but I can understand if that's weird lmao. Maybe something more on-the-nose, like Greyson, then?
I love this series, pls never stop rat-ing. Also side note- you remind me of this British comedian that I used to LOVE named Jon Richardson, you look a lot like him and even have similar mannerisms!
Amen! I’ve only ever paid for one crochet pattern until I found your channel. I bought four of your patterns and I’ve never been more happy about spending money on patterns. 💜
Yea, plant more native plants and plants for pollinators! I guess I personally angered this bee while cleaning up the garden with my mom (she kicked me out of the garden because the rose bush cut me up) so I was like a foot away from the garden putting stuff in the bag. This bee flew all the way to me and stung my leg. My mom was still pulling weeds and I shouted at her. I'm not allergic is the good news and I left the thistle alone for the bees, so they didn't try to attack me. Left a bruise, but I was like did this bee just go out of its way to get me?
The first, and so far only, time i have been stung by anything was a wasp this summer. I was just getting out of the car, and it flew UP my pant leg and started stinging me while i was walking. I didnt see it, i didnt hear it, and i didnt even feel it on my leg. My leg just started hurting so bad I almost couldn't walk. I was so confused, too, because every few steps I would feel another spot starting to hurt. I got inside and shook out my pants, but I still didn't see anything. I counted 7-9 sting spots, from my mid calf to just above my knee. I think it flew out after getting inside because we found it a few minutes later and my mother killed it with an electric fly swatter lol.
Not finishing the pipe cleaner rat was completely understandable, I used to play with pipe cleaner as a kid so I know how it can be a pain to work with 😅 I hope no one really got on your case for stopping when you did, don’t feel pressured to continue something that could potentially put you at risk. Your physical health should always come first ❤
I also hate daylight savings with a passion, I loved driving home and then being able to watch the sunset with my partner in the evening. Now I watch the sun set at work, and then I still have to continue to work the whole dang time.
I am in full agreement on the seasons rant AND the tree rant. Those trees are also deliberately planted everywhere where I live (in WA state) and they smell so bad. Here, the smell is described with a word that is not PG or TH-cam friendly, but that is extremely accurate… they are also terrible for seasonal allergies. I don’t understand why they are such a popular choice.
Dang no wonder you can have a crochet business, you crochet at lightning speed when not talking! Do you talk just so we can see what you're doing? That's so generous. I have also gotten hangnails like yours in the past. I call what you have hangnails and also when on the side of my nail, there's a small growth of nail as well that is like spiky and can get caught on stuff. I feel like I haven't had the "under" hangnails for a while now, maybe my hands just aren't getting as dry as they once did? Or maybe I'm not rubbing them on things as much as I've had to in the past? For all kinds, I try to remove any "excess" material as soon as possible so the spot can stop being irritated, for the side growths, cutting it with nail clippers as short as possible really helps me. And then if the spot is really irritated like yours, I'll put a bandage on for padding/protection.
It would be teeny tiny, so I’m not sure you would even have the hook for it, but dental floss could be interesting to use 👀 you could potentially use several strands or braid it to bulk it up a little
Ooh it might be really rough to work with, but sisal rope would probably work as well. It even comes in different diameters so you could pick a thinner one
I think even if you just didn't want to continue the pipe cleaner rat because it was annoying is a good enough reason to stop so don't worry haha thank you for these videos!
I really like the potential for growth too! As Nichet(?) gets better at ratting with weird stuff, he can use all the things he's learned to make a successful pipe cleaner rat that doesn't irritate his lungs!
17:58 re: the inside joke references, my family always calls them "animals", which in itself is an inside joke reference lol. "getting someone's animals" means you understand the way they communicate and their sense of humor. I love that sort of thing, its an underrated type of intimacy
i LOVED the ramblings of this video, especially all the references to the memes since i use all of those too lol but LMAO the wheeze i whozed when the wither popped up, that was hilarious
Oh my gosh, the inside jokes/references... I did that today and my brother finished the quote while my dad was standing there like "Whuuuuh" It was "You mean your salami leg, their salami leg, his salami leg, or Carl's shoes?" which is from Jimmy Neutron for the uninformed. I tried to find a video of that quote to explain, and the only one I found was in a foreign language, it was tragic... But the joy of hearing my brother say "or Carl's shoes" was priceless!
I grew up in Ohio and I LOVE 10pm sunset!! It's the epitome of summer to me. The evenings when the heat finally goes away and you can relax in the fading light are perfect.
I think I like the look of the scrubby yarn a little bit more. All the little hairs add a lot of character. But I like the base texture of the twine and how that looks. It's a bit more defined and the stiffness makes the stitches very obvious which is a cool look. Edit: Right after I resumed stitch definition was complimented haha. And the name my brain came up with is Bindle.
@@Nichet.Crochet I recommend Aquaphore!! That stuff saved my friggin life when I was on Accutane (accutane is a medication that dries your skin out a LOT). I also recommend nail oil for the hangnail thing specifically. I find that it helps.
@@Nichet.CrochetIf your eczema is in the form of red iritated itchy areas and you have time to experiment, I suggest oatmeal baths. A family member has a good experience with them. You boil rolled oats in water, until the water becomes milky white and slimy (should take about 10-15 min, I don't remember precisely), let cool down to a comfortable temperature, then soak your hands in it as long as it is comfortable for you, but probably not less than 5-10 min. Results should be visible immediately after bath. Repeat every three days. I don't remember precisely the amount of rolled oats needed, the family member boiled about two cups in water and then diluted it for a bath for a larger body area, so I guess not more than half a cup would be needed for hands, but probably even less.
@@Nichet.CrochetAlso I recommend to repeat at least twice a day (but the more times the better) this routine: moisturize - wait 5 min - heal - wait 5 min. By "moisturize" I mean a thick layer of moisturizing cream, preferably one with a lot of glycerine/glycerol (I don't suggest creams with urea or parabens as they can be irritating and make itching worse - although producers suggest them for eczema! - my family has bad experiences with such creams). By "heal" I mean a thin layer of cream or paste with zinc oxide (we especially like one with zinc oxide and white ichthyol, it's called Vitella Ictamo, but I live in Europe, it's probably not available in States. But we previously used some other common cream with zinc oxide and it was also helpful.) By "wait 5 min" I mean leaving the stuff on the skin for 5 min without wiping it off accidentally or putting clothing on the area. I'm sorry for the long comment, I'm sure you've already tried a lot of things and maybe you don't have time or mood to try new things at the moment, it's OK, but I hope it might be helpful for you or for others.
The memes that live rent free in my head are all audio for some reason. Like whenever someone says "correct" in a very enunciated tone I think of that Vine that goes, "Ah, that is not correcT. Because according to the encyclopedia of -gibberish-". It's hard to hold myself back in meetings. I got your mini trash trio patterns a while back and they worked up great! The spouse and I love our trash sonas! I especially love the little toes on the feet.
This series has become my favorite on this website. I also didn't realize YOU were the creator of the clown possum pattern I've wanted for so long, I definitely just went and bought that pattern (and a few others) as soon as I put 2 and 2 together. Keep up the great work!!
You can totally crochet with rubber bands, just add a rubber band to the hook whenever you would yarn over, it's kinda hard to explain but I made a granny square like that one time as a kid.
I just started getting into crochet and suddenly this is in my recommended 😂 this is one of the best weirdest things that’s ever been recommended to me
I thoroughly look forward to will it rat every couple weeks!! I love listening to you just talk while crocheting X3 Makes for good listening while I’m doing my own work
those trees you hate are called bradford/callery pears, and theyre planted by developers and landscapers because they grow very quickly. an 8 year old tree can grown up to 15 feet (for reference an oak tree takes 10 years to reach that height, in very good conditions). to me they smell like week old vomit and sadness.
I feel iinda bad about suggesting plarn and making you go out of your way to get plastic bags... I thought it'd be a cool recycling project (maybe people you know have disposable bags they want to get rid of?). But, anyway, thanks you for this series. You make me smile 😊
I'll have a restock sometime in early December for Christmas! I have a few in-person events coming up so I haven't had time to plan out an online restock 😅
On the rubber bands you mentioned, (i'm assuming Rainbow Loom), i actually used to crochet with those way back in the day! It was called Loomigurumi and there were quite a few patterns and video tutorials on youtube for it. It was basically crochet with loom bands and one band would be used as one single crochet. I made a ton of things with those long before i even picked up a real crochet hook :3
Fellow summer lover here, and yes!!! Summer is the best. I love evening walks, warm days, and sunshine. I'm also constantly cold, so basically every other season, I'm freezing. Summer is just so nice. Also, I love this series so much. The world is so chaotic and stressful, but "WILL IT RAT?" is the perfect way to take a break from the chaos.
I'm so glad I stumbled on your channel. I love this series and I can't wait to see what you'll come up with next. I'll be forever grateful to the TH-cam algorithm ❤
Completely valid to quit on the pipe cleaner rat when it was potentially affecting your health! Also I love the gary snail possum and glad you can still use the pipe cleaners for something. :)
It seems like you have dry hands and cuticles. I have the same issue. I suggest using vitamin E oil it helps a lot! If you're not a fan of oils you can you lotion. I've been loving goats milk lotion. Hope this helps! Love the rats keep up the great work!!! ❤
god the stinky trees are the WORST! also i love this series so far, not only is it interesting to see if it will in fact rat, but ur rambles are also fun to listen to
What you experience shown at 16:40 is called paronychia (chronically inflamed cuticles). I have it, too. In my case, it is caused by excessive hand-washing. It can be remedied with antifungal nail treatments. I recommend Orly Fungus MD. Squeeze some onto your cuticles before bed and after you wake up. It should clear up pretty quickly.
I make tote bags using plarn! I use the thin produce grocery bags because 1-it's so much softer than most plastic bags so it's gentle on my hands while crocheting, and 2 -I work at a grocery and I recycle the perfectly good bags that get thrown away, so free materials and I feel good about reducing plastic in the waste stream 😊 An idea for a future video: mesh tubing
17:39 yes I do this too!! sometimes I purposefully type "ime" instead of "I'm" as a reference to that one twitter post thats like "ime ate years oald today" "8 years old and still can't spell" "ime a cat" anyway, very cute rat!! the ears being a little closer together and pretty perked up with the legs being spread farther apart compared to the other one (33:28) makes me think he's gotten startled by something or jumping up in shock
Great sponsor - finally something I actually enjoy spending money on! :D But holy molly, how can you crochet without even LOOKING? I keep having a hard time finding my stitches WITH MY EYES GLUED TO MY WORK ...
When I was a teenager and formally learning to type, I didn't gain the ability to type without looking in the amount of time it took to take the class. My mom reassured me by saying it would come with time, and that I just had to keep typing. Lo and behold, I've typed this whole comment without looking at the keyboard. So I can definitely see it as a case of just keep practicing! I also always have to look at my work to see where the stitches are, but when I used some fluffy yarn recently, I had to practice more with feel since it was nearly futile to try to see the stitches.
Man I'm so happy to see a new episode of Will It Rat. Your style of video is very cozy, and it's been kinda stormy lately. Edit: man, Indiana is cold as hell. I like winter but even I can totally understand hating it in like Indiana or Illinois. I wonder if anyone has made yarn from synthetic hair. Crocheting a rat from synthetic hair without it being spun into a thread or yarn seems difficult. Also, if you've ever seen how metal thread is made, it's in strips that are twisted into strands. Maybe you could try doing that with fabric and then crochet that? Also it's always good to see fellow local flora enthusiasts. SUPPORT YOUR NATIVE POLLINATORS

You are soo fine for not finishing the other rat, I tried to do it too and it sucked😂😂
The legend came back!
AMEN!
I'm not American, so for me it's different plants, but yeah. Bring on the Native Plants-!
28:17 yep, hes one of us💅
those trees you hate are called bradford/callery pears, and theyre planted by developers and landscapers because they grow very quickly. an 8 year old tree can grown up to 15 feet (for reference an oak tree takes 10 years to reach that height, in very good conditions). to me they smell like week old vomit and sadness.
I feel iinda bad about suggesting plarn and making you go out of your way to get plastic bags... I thought it'd be a cool recycling project (maybe people you know have disposable bags they want to get rid of?). But, anyway, thanks you for this series. You make me smile 😊
I think I've collected enough so far. Plarn rat will soon be real
I crocheted a "Gary" for my son. No pattern, just a picture. I also used pipe cleaners for the eye stalks!
Oh fuck I might need to get that candy corn rat, it’s just like princess bubblegums rat from adventure time!!
Congrats your shop is just about totally sold out wow!
I'll have a restock sometime in early December for Christmas! I have a few in-person events coming up so I haven't had time to plan out an online restock 😅
@@Nichet.Crochet champagne problems!
A real suggestion - hay baling twine - the plastic kind
On the rubber bands you mentioned, (i'm assuming Rainbow Loom), i actually used to crochet with those way back in the day! It was called Loomigurumi and there were quite a few patterns and video tutorials on youtube for it. It was basically crochet with loom bands and one band would be used as one single crochet. I made a ton of things with those long before i even picked up a real crochet hook :3
i used this (or something similar) to crochet once and i made my birds some toys for inside their cages
''christmas is right across-''
Christmas is right across the street 😀
OMG YOU REPLIED
looking directly at the camera/out the window as you crochet visionless is such a chat crochet move.
I am very impressed by your ability to talk and crochet (with increases, presumably) at the same time
Stinky tree is a bradford pear
Fellow summer lover here, and yes!!! Summer is the best. I love evening walks, warm days, and sunshine. I'm also constantly cold, so basically every other season, I'm freezing. Summer is just so nice.
Also, I love this series so much. The world is so chaotic and stressful, but "WILL IT RAT?" is the perfect way to take a break from the chaos.
I'm so glad I stumbled on your channel. I love this series and I can't wait to see what you'll come up with next. I'll be forever grateful to the TH-cam algorithm ❤
amen
Completely valid to quit on the pipe cleaner rat when it was potentially affecting your health! Also I love the gary snail possum and glad you can still use the pipe cleaners for something. :)
For the “hang nails” you can buy some cuticle oil in the nail polish section at the supermarket, it solved the issue for me :)
You could try ratting raffia.
34:57 Conc, like concrete 😁
You could probably take plastic bags from a recycling drop off point, found in many grocery stores
The twine rat would be the BEST cat toy
It seems like you have dry hands and cuticles. I have the same issue. I suggest using vitamin E oil it helps a lot! If you're not a fan of oils you can you lotion. I've been loving goats milk lotion. Hope this helps! Love the rats keep up the great work!!! ❤
23:00 the comedic timing on that was amazing LMAO😂😂
I think eyelash yarn would be horrible to Rat but it might make a fun video!! My 2nd thought was cooked spaghetti
god the stinky trees are the WORST! also i love this series so far, not only is it interesting to see if it will in fact rat, but ur rambles are also fun to listen to
What you experience shown at 16:40 is called paronychia (chronically inflamed cuticles).
I use the thin produce grocery bags because 1-it's so much softer than most plastic bags so it's gentle on my hands while crocheting, and 2 -I work at a grocery and I recycle the perfectly good bags that get thrown away, so free materials and I feel good about reducing plastic in the waste stream 😊
An idea for a future video: mesh tubing
17:39 yes I do this too!! sometimes I purposefully type "ime" instead of "I'm" as a reference to that one twitter post thats like "ime ate years oald today" "8 years old and still can't spell" "ime a cat"
anyway, very cute rat!! the ears being a little closer together and pretty perked up with the legs being spread farther apart compared to the other one (33:28) makes me think he's gotten startled by something or jumping up in shock
Great sponsor - finally something I actually enjoy spending money on! :D
But holy molly, how can you crochet without even LOOKING? I keep having a hard time finding my stitches WITH MY EYES GLUED TO MY WORK ...
I've been doing this for 8 years so it's just natural to me 🤷♂️ I think anyone could do it with practice LOL
Try experimenting with how loose or tight you keep your crochet
im a non binary trans man who loves to crochet and those possoms/racoons/rats own my entire heart
graaaah!!! 💥💥🎉🥳
I’m weirdly obsessed with these videos after I found you the other day! Keep up the good work!
BRADFORD PEAR! BRADFORD PEAR! BRADFORD PEAR! THE STINKY TREE! THEY’RE ILLEGAL TO PLANT NOW! (At least where I live)
