    As I've learned in the many hours of playing VS. If you see a bear, your thought process goes "Uh oh." and if there's no deep water immediately around the following tend to be thoughts as it chases you: "Shit! Shit! Shit! Ow! Where the hell is the water?!"
    Thanks to bears I also learned how to parkour in VS. It works 50% of the time, but it's better than nothing.

    Ive made it to the copper age for the first time. And i didnt know i could cure pelts without a barrel of lime water!
    Now i can go back and make myself a shield, some lamellar armor, and start hunting some real game! I have so many hides already! Now i just need the fat.
    Those bears better watch out!

    It's also important to note that wearing armor will also increase your hunger % rate. So, if you're just in and around the relative safety of your home or just about to sleep to pass the night away, it's usually a good idea to unequip it and not carry things in your off-hand to help lower your satiation needs.

    in my current world, the winters get down to almost 18 below at night where my home is - I've had to build my base to be insulated on top of wearing full furs to not freeze at night.
    thankfully it's not *quite* cold enough to kill pink apple and pear trees, so i can still get fruits

      the main reason I chose to settle at this particular location in spite of multiple forests nearby and the deadly winters is because it's got surface peridotite and there's ample veins of hematite below the ground. because my friends decided to all settle elsewhere but don't have any iron sources nearby their bases im basically in control of the server's iron supply

    Ty for explaining what the heal rate does, cause this whole time i thought it only referred to the passive regen speed.
    I didnt test it myself, i just assumed its what it was and didnt think anymore of it.
    Im probably early/mid game in regard to progression. I chose gambeson armor for its protection stats compared to that of entry level metals. I already have some iron and am thinking of going striaght to plate. It seems to be the next best "all around" deep dive exploration armor when you consider how much work it takes crafting everything else.

    • @MischiefofMice
      @MischiefofMice  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If you want an in-between, you have 2 good options. Chain can later be upgraded to plate so it's good if you get worn out making the materials. This way you have above average armor and can still upgrade it. The second is brigandine. It's a lot cheaper and thus also quicker and easier to make than many and can still offer good protection. The down side is that it can't be upgraded.

      @uncolored2060 I managed to do it today lol. But yeah my strategy is to run like he'll from Predators and jump. Jump a lot
      Use water to slow them down behind me or jump up blocks for that extra half a second it takes for them to do the same lol.
      Well... until I declared war on the wolves and bears near my base by generously applying a liberal application of increased gaseous heat to multiple foliages and arbors in an attempt to stem the tide of beasts and gain some visibility.
      ...
      I burned the forest down with a torch. 😂 it worked.... _phenomenally_

      @@alexanderrahl7034 is burning stuff safe in this game?

    • @alexanderrahl7034
      @alexanderrahl7034 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @uncolored2060 you _can_ set stuff on fire.
      And that includes your house if it's made of logs or wood. But honestly, unless you're a pro at the game, I doubt you're making your house out of those since it's so resource intensive in the early to mid game. But you can probably protect yourself by building a stone wall or a fire break if you're worried.
      I was only minorly concerned about our base when I did it. But we had a stone wall and a moat I dug (because of bears. They can climb up 4 to 5 blocks high) so I figured we would be safe.
      I also should point out, i had to light many fires. I was running through setting as many trees and bushes alight as I could, spacing them out every 5 to 10 blocks or so.
      When it was over, a huge swathe of the forest was burned, and several families of pigs, wolves, bighorns, and chickens as well as other animals had all died in groups and I harvested their meat. It was really surprising actually. We scrambled like mad to make fires and crocks to cook and preserve it all before it spoiled and we managed to fill almost 10 crocks worth of food.

    • @uncolored2060
      @uncolored2060 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alexanderrahl7034 fun fact: primitive (not really, but them too) people used to burn huge patches of tall grass and bushes for a nice, clean piece of land BEFORE they started building (it was for farms and such, or even for huge villages)
      So that's another thing this game is realistic at

    Do you know what determines how much durability armor looses from a hit? I can't find any info on this. Is it dependent on how much damage the armor stopped, the armor material, the armor type, ect.
