Frankie - honest question - why don't you use an air-hammer for all the chiseling (easier on the arms) and can torture-boarding not get delegated to the DA? Reasons?

I'm looking to buy a ferro cement boat. Its out of the water, seems pretty solid, similar size to what you are working on. What should I look for regarding the hull that might raise some eyebrows as to whether I should steer clear? My understanding is they are pretty durable.Thanks.

Craig Gallagher Hey bud just now seeing this. The main thing in my opinion is look for bubbled up areas of paint. That’s a sign of moisture. Also if there’s any bare spots you want to look and see if the wire mesh is exposed. Yes they are extremely durable however it’s always been odd to me to have a concrete boat that actually floats LOL. Check all chain plates and make sure they are secure in place. Look in all cabinets down below and search for evidence of moisture. If you see bubbles on hull then there’s a good possibility that the insulation on the inside is holding moisture as well. If that’s the case then all that insulation needs to be removed and allow the concrete to air out and dry before proceeding with the hull. Hope this kinda helps you bud👌👌

@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 Thanks mate, I appreciate the advise. The boat Im looking atseems pretty solid but yet to take a more detailed look. Having been through it, it will be a full strip inside and out. Biggest positive isa reconditioned motor. Also the fact that there is so much room below deck with a full aft cabin. Thanks again - heres to a great 2020.
