    ive learned more from this guy than anyone else on youtube. After nearly 70+ patches on my boat plus having to do transom and stringers. I'm confident enough to keep going. Thank Frank.

    Lucky boat-owner probably doesn't know how lucky they are having a Frankie do their repairs. If you find a Frankie - be nice.

    G'day Frankie, not sure if you can get the same products you use here in Australia! I just bought a cheap 42ft Ferro yacht & the decks are timber. Can I apply the same process where the timber meets the Hull at the gunnels? Also there's some exposed wire that's rusting! Should I hit it with rust converter first & apply the same process? Cheers! Craig, Queensland Australia 👍🇦🇺 Happy New Year mate

      I have been bouncing around so much that I’ve not been able to video lately. The hull is now finish primed and I have the whole boat bagged off as now I am stripping the bottom 🥴. I am gonna get back to videoing the process soon. I have been working on various other projects as well. Just haven’t had the extra time lately. But soon. Thanks for checking and just Bare with me.

    Frankie you do awesome work and use top quality products, I’m in the process of a complete restoration of a 1975 Sea Ray 220 Cuddy cabin and noticed that you do primarily top side painting and restoration, what do you recommend for bottom side restoration that will not be in a slip, it will be launched off a trailer or on a boat lift?

    Impressive work. Will absolutely share it.
    I have a question:
    The previous owner of my boat has no clue what kind of paint is on there, and most of it is letting go anyways. So I thought i'd re-do the entire deck from scratch. So it's not just spot fixing, but all surfaces.
    Would you recommend taking all layers off the deck, till I reach the cement?
    Which layers would you apply? If you re-do it from scratch.
    Hope to hear from ya

    I have a quick question regarding awlgrip spray if I may. My sailing Fibreglass boat is sprayed with H1021 Bright Aluminum but every time they try to effect small repairs, we end up with a halo on the edge of the sprayed repair. Is this due to the metallic in the spray ? Is there a way we can get rid of this.? Thank you so much and keep up the amazing videos. Georges. Thank You Frankie.

    • @boatpaintingrestorationwit3029
      @boatpaintingrestorationwit3029  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Georges Bonello DuPuis regular awlgrip is not repairable as they say. A halo will always be visible. You can make it disappear for a week or two, but it will come back. Assuming it’s regular awlgrip you’re talking about.

    Hello Mr. Bushong
    Can you use Awlgrip primer 545 over the pre primer from Devoe? I am redoing a ferro as well and I have been using 545 primer and it looks ok. It seems as the Devoe pre primer works better.
    Please comment.
    Kind Regards

    Frankie, why do you use BarRust 235 instead of Interprotect 2000?

    • @boatpaintingrestorationwit3029
      @boatpaintingrestorationwit3029  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darren Wright in my opinion and from my experience it’s just all around a better product, it’s a lot stronger and it just so happens to be cheaper. It’s a great product for everything above and below the waterline. I just wish it sanded as easy as interprotect. Lol

    Where is part 9 for the outside of the hull?

  • @dandodge637
    @dandodge637 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The bottom has never been painted at all, it is gelcoat

    • @boatpaintingrestorationwit3029
      @boatpaintingrestorationwit3029  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it’s in good condition I would just acid wash it with on and off ( if you have yellow staining, then wax the heck out of it. Compound first if needed. Rinse off every time you pull it out the water. If you want to put bottom paint on it then you need to sand the heck out of it, barrier coat it and then put a coat or 2 of hard copper bottom paint on it. Color of your choice. It’s a lot of work to do a bottom job properly

    Pros to time laps is it only seems to take a few minutes to complete, Cons to time laps is it gives the illusion that it only takes a few minutes to complete, That was a ton of work you just completed in just a few minutes of time laps, I'm sure that was hours of strenuous work.
