Good morning 🌅, that must of been megabucks, , I have a 2003 Deuce, that I am hoping to work on over the winter, someone as already done some work on it, SnS cams geared drive, 510g I don’t know if it as a big bore kit or not, I will carry on watching your rebuild on this engine. It sounds interesting., but I think it’s out of my price range,
Incredibly useful! Thanks boys! I'm getting ready to refresh my 2003 FXSTDi Deuce on it's 20th birthday with a big-bore/stroker kit, and I need to upgrade the bottom end. Little things like the lifter magnets and balancer chain tensioner stays I hadn't thought about. Does putting in larger/heavier pistons on a longer stroke mess with the counterbalancing's ability to compensate for the increased vibes?
Very nice build. I have a gear driven 05 RK custom with a 95 kit. I noticed the baker 5 in the build, why is that preferred over the 6 speed conversion? A transmission upgrade is next on my list so I'm curious about the reasoning of the 5 over the 6 speed.
So this is a yr after u asked but I choose the 5because it ain't broke yet...and the few rpm drops ain't doing much for me when I dog the sh it outta it
Exciting project. I'm looking forward to part two. Quick question from a non-mechanic: Does that crank fit without any machine work to the engine block? I assume a TC A and TC B are pretty much the same except the balancing stuff as you have in your TC B.
When a tc88 has a con rod bearing failure, what test is ran to determine whether the pin can be pressed out, and new rods, bearings snd a pin be installed and the assembly get trued up. Or if the flywheel assembly is not rebuildable and must get a new one?? Thank you!
i love that oil cooler set up..my 2015 FatBoy has the ABS unit mounted between the down tubes and i dont like the side mount oil cooler style...any info on that oil cooler would be much appreciated..thanks
Are you using an aftermarket crank that you used on the first build? I find it hard to believe that the pinion shaft run out on that crankshaft if it is stock is not out of limits for gear drive cams.
It’s a brand new S&S Stroker crank. Check out the part 2 video! But the oem crank we took out is running again in a different motor, still running gear drive 👍
I bought a 2003 Electra glide classic anniversary that I didn’t know had the S&S gears already so I put the S&S adjustable push rods in however I don’t know what else they done to it ? The bike runs great however how would I know if it’s been cam etc without tearing it down ? Thanks
Very hard to put a total price on this one, since it seemingly has no end. But I can safely tell you we're into 5 digits by now. You'll see this bike again soon for new wheels, huge brakes and more!
The gears are possibly the best idea for the twin cam because they eat chain guides but the rest of the engine is not really that bad in my humble opinion no bits no real reason to rebuild but hey if you have money half his luck but I build my Shovel every 3 years either way.
Very professional video but I have just one question. How did the original HD crank hold up? Every early twin cam I pulled apart always had a near-perfect crank in 01 and 02. It's sad HD cost cut and made the TwinCam bottom end much less reliable. Subscribed and looking forward to future content.
@@redneckswitwheels The crank out of my 2013 Ultra Limited, other than the .006 runout was still good after 150,000 miles. Now I have a dark horse crank and gear drive cams.
@@kerrylewis2581 sorry u don't appreciate my comment. Did u get a good crank? Sure . But after 08 to much changed and not for the better. And yes I was a certified hd tech which don't mean shit. But I been wrenching on bikes for 40plus yrs. My 04 Twinkie runs the old htcc ported heads and pistons... It's a 95 but it's built to go 110mph for that highway life. Every 11,000 miles she need a refresher on the topend but stock crank and never welded. Still running true.. oh best part? It can be rebuilt. Harley went so far down hill after 08 most old guys that know only bys the ones worth rebuilding
@@redneckswitwheels I did not mean it that way. The cranks and cases went downhill after 2006. I'm saying I got lucky. Now I have a Timken bearing and dark horse crank. I have two friends who had to have their engines rebuilt because their cranks run out. and connecting rod failure. One was .018, and the other was .021 Neither beat their bikes and both were under five years old. I agree with you.
Why is the oil cooler under the bike instead off on the front of the frame some place, my bikes have always had them on the front for good reason I thought, I'm interested.
How ghey are new harleys? Rubber mounted and twin balance shafts? Buddy ride my shovel last week after his new M8 said the shovel shook his balls and felt more like a real Harley than his 50?-60k new hawg.
I have often wondered why there are so many of these engines out there. This Harley Davidson engine is nothing more than 1940’s/1950’s technology that survived because of the HD brand. The fact is they are hot motors that are overly labor intensive where the heat breaks them down over time. Other manufacturers have overhead cams, no pushrods, no rocker arms, and are fully counter balanced with most being liquid cooled. They run good new but over time you're screwed.
This dude must be a Millionaire!
Not really, this same setup cost me $6,700, parts without the forwards came out to around 4k and the rest was labor.
thanks for showing this, couldn't find anything else as detailed

Somebody must have won the lottery.
While the tank and pipes are off it's just a couple more bolts and gaskets.
Great video! First time I’ve ever seen a twin cam torn down to that extent! I’m sure John will give my hayabusa a good run this summer 👍
Well, how did it do?
@@smallfry0764 well we never did ever race them (we’re old guys 😂) but I can tell you that is one very fast Harley !!

So the retired hd mechanic put “A” flywheels in the “B” engine. Tossed the chains and 15lbs . Says it only vibrates no more the evo-

Have to ride it to believe it

I want to know more about the hidden cameras and where i can get some
Hi, about the quick shifter. I have an fatboy 2002 - I checked with Healtec and their website say only compatible for HD 06 and up..?

Original crank is currently in another running engine. New chain sliders in the bottom and fresh bearings. They don’t make em like they used to!

yo...slim, who paid for all those parts/ material??????? damn, thats a whole reuild
Jesus, the cost of all of that I bet the customer could had bought another twin cam bike
How much does this cost when said & done including labor?
What is the MPG after the build? First time seeing a B’ motor Stroker 🎃 Just got my 1st B motor yesterday, a 2000 Heritage
Depends on throttle position!! Haha
Hey where is your shop? I see Ontario plates on that HD build out. I’d like see if you’d work on some of my bikes….
We are located in Goderich On!
Thin walls on the big bore cylinders
How much was this build, I want all of it

That's the oil bud oil cooler, it actually works great and is pretty much indestructible. It's pricey tho
I wish I could build mine I can do normal stuff but I wanna build my motor but I wanna do it myself
And what does this cost roughly to get done..??
How much is it with all parts?

Where you guys located?
Would you build my 2005 harley Davidson FLHRCI TO A 106 inch stroker and how much for you he complete
Yes! Total cost is hard to determine, but I will tell you this was not a budget build!!
for the cost of that build you could go buy a new 117 ... with the bike.
what can I do if one of my inner cam bearing completely disappeared and now a new bearing won't fit its too loose 😬 do I need to buy a new bottom???
It may be repairable, but sadly you may need cases. That inner bearing is one of the first things we upgrade on our TC builds! Thanks for watching!
When is the next video?
Why wouldn't you go for a 110?
Somebody's spending some moola.
How can you tell an 88B Harley-Davidson motorcycle versus an 88? Thx
88B is in softail models
Where are you in Canada ?
Southwestern Ontario!
How much do you think a build like that would cost
5k
Can these be run without ballancer shafts to get more of a Shovelhead feel ?
Yes - my comment above -
Where is ep 5?
Is there any update on this video?
YES!! It will actually be airing tonight!
Wow
I'm just going to drive my sht that works until it breaks, then swap with upgrades

Biggest POS engine ever made
My friend just turned 189,000 on her 02 heritage. I have an 02 heritage that's a sleeper. 😁
Not worth it on a twin cam engine!! Besides you can buy a Built Stroker engine for less then what you are going to pay for parts and labor!
“Worth” is a term relative to how much you value something. Price isn’t everyone’s primary concern… What engine set up are you running in your bike?
