Hi Everyone! If you want to see a complete Row by Row in real time demonstration of this square, please see our Live Workshop here: th-cam.com/users/live4gW3f_6N0GE?feature=share
Other Important Tips:
1. This square is essentially a Solid Double Crochet Granny Square with loops added at each corner and atop the middle stitch of each side (every row).
2. Row 1: Side Count = 3, Row 2: Side Count = 7, Row 3: Side Count = 11, Row 4: Side Count = 15, Row 5: Side Count = 19, Row 6: Side Count = 23
3. There is an equal number of stitches on either side of the Middle Stitch in each side. The Middle Stitch always gets the Ch-10 Loop.
😊
It’s a no for me I’ll just do a different granny for march!
That's very helpful to know it is a solid dc granny. Thank you!
I'm working on my second one. Still takes forever to get to the 3rd round.
I got it and I went into the loop like you said. Thank you so much. I'm forever your fan. I tell everyone to look you up
Jayda Jayda Jayda!! You are doing the darned thing!! L❤VE IT!! ❤❤❤
😁 Thank you for watching!
It helped me to change the “Playback Speed” to .75 for this tutorial. It also helped to pause occasionally and to replay. It’s a beautiful square, and not difficult once you’ve done a couple of rows. Go slow, take breaks, and enjoy the process. Thank you, Jayda. Great job once again! 🧶🎉
Hi Debra, great advice! Not too many people realize you can slow down (and speed up!) videos here on TH-cam 💗
By row 5 I had that one of those ‘I think she’s got it’ moment 😅 very challenging to start, but great when I got it. Thanks Jayda xx
AWESOME! I love it when the light turns on 😁 I get so excited when that happens! I love a good challenge too, the satisfaction of "getting it" feels amazing 💗
@@JaydaInStitches I am going to have another go, my square is bigger than my other two, so I'm going to try again using a smaller hook 😃
WOW! Fascinating! Thank you! You’re such an excellent teacher. The square is so pretty. Magic!
Thank you so much Virginia!
I have had the hardest time getting this square completed!!! I've taken it out more times than I would confess too. I am determined and I will complete this square!!! 😏
Oh Jayda! You hit it out of the ballpark with this one!!!! Just beautiful! Thank you for your wonderful tutorials! Wishing you and your family much love and many blessings!
Hi Monica! Thank you so much 💗
Loved the challenge of this month’s square! Had to stay focused on which loop I was on to ensure I slip stitched in to the correct spot. Counting stitches per side also helped.
Hi Mary Jean! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed the challenge! It results in such a pretty square 😊
This one is a challenge...I've practiced 6x with scrap yarn..glad I did. I promised 10 blanket s this year so I am making 12..This month will take me past April. But....I am woman.......HEAR ME ROAR....POWER TO ALL WOMEN AND STAY STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL.. Jada u r awesome❤.ty
Tracy, YOU GOT THIS! Take the challenge, slay it and roar!!! There is nothing that can replace the feeling of achievement 💗💗💗
This is the first time I have ever been frustrated with a Jayda tutorial. I am on row two, and now she wants me to do the rest myself. Maybe I need some lunch! I will come back and tackle it with renewed brain power.
Exactly. She’s going way too fast this time. I’ve paused and rewatched so many times.
I’m working on the March square, taking my time. I’ve frogged round two twice. But it’s not going to win. I am .
I keep stopping and starting Jayda, I’ll master the March square I’m sure of it..
I figured out that by clipping the loops down with clear stitch markers I can see the square much better and I use green stitch markers for the corner loops.
I’ve finally made to
round four. I’m on my way now.
And yes. Set it down walk away in between rounds, or even corners if you have too.
But stitch markers helped me so much. Don’t get frustrated. You’ve got this
Good to know we're in this together.🥰
@@cherylschram862 yes holding down the loops with the clips works really well. It was definitely challenging which is great, but she just needs to slow down just a bit. She’s a great teacher, though. I’ve watched so many of her videos and made so many things.
Very beautiful, but I do agree, it’s confusing and will take some time to master...lol I see an Afghan in my future
Oh my. This looks lovely Jayda! Unfortunately I don’t have the time to watch the video right now but I will for sure. As someone who learned granny squares years ago, I was beyond sick of them. And it’s still a struggle. That being said, their resurgence is awesome. I can’t wait to watch and will later. Right now family health is top priority. Hapoy Friday.❤️❤️
Take care Thea 💗
Thank you Jayda!💗
🎉 I did it! I made my Jacobs ladder, only because I have the best teacher. Thank you Jayda you not only teach very well. You also do it well. I wish I could show you how your hard work pays off for me. Thank you.
I'm so happy to hear you got it! This is such a pretty square to master 😊 Thank you so much for watching!
I love this but at 75 yrs old, it looks very complicated.😮😂 Im going to try it. Thanks Jada, you're the best❤
You can do it
Hi Jean! You can do it! It's just double crochets and chains 💗 Take your time and be patient with yourself - I still have to do that too 😁
@@JaydaInStitches thanks for the reply and encouraging positive words. Ive done jacobs ladder on a mile a minute afghan and enjoy the braiding. I will definately try this
I'm 68 sweetheart. I’m doing it. You can too. Just hang in there. I found it helpful to start braiding right away. It Keeps the loops under control and it no longer looked like an octopus on acid.
@@donnasstitch-in-timecroche8903 hey girl. Thanks for the encouragement. Im certainly going to do this with a positive attitude and enthusiam as soon as i finish the cat stitch afghan im working on. Love you, stay well🥰😻😘😍
I didn't do this square right away because I thought I needed more patience before I settled and sat down to do it. But it was a fun square to do. Thank you for making this ladder pattern into a square. ❤
Hi! Thank you for watching, I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it 😊
I love this! I had to concentrate and it was a challenge but the more I did, the better it looked! Really lovely granny square! Thank you!
Fantastic! Thank you for watching Anne 😊
O.M.G! I finally did it. Several backtracks because of the loops but I kept at it and got it done. Looks good. ❤ The next ones will be easier, I think.
HI Dawn, that's fantastic!
I have done many granny squares, but never one like this. I am looking forward to tackling this one. I always follow along at least one or twice before I actually start to see if I can do the stitch. So blessing to all that are going to want to try this stitch. Give it a chance you can do it. ❤
Wonderful! Thank you for watching! If you want or need a little extra help, we now have an in-depth CAL on this square here: th-cam.com/users/live4gW3f_6N0GE?feature=share 😊
A bit of encouragement to pass on - as you add rows, and therefore more double crochets, the loops become easier to manage.
Yes! Thank you for that Teddi, it's true!!
I am really enjoying this calendar blanket! Thank you so much!
We're so glad you're enjoying it!
Jayda this is amazing! I’m glad March is a long month to give me time to really work on this (I’m doing 8 squares each month). Can’t wait to get started!!
Hi Sandy! Just take it easy, by the time you get to the end of the 3rd row, it's MUCH easier to see and the pattern feels less confusing 💗
@@JaydaInStitches thanks Jayda. Good to know 😊
I had a terrible time with this square and just about gave up on it. However I really liked it because I like Jacobs Ladder pattern so I made myself try it one last time. I took it slow and easy and all of a sudden it clicked and I sailed right through it
Thank you so much, I love your squares
That's awesome Darlene! Don't you love how it feels when the lightbulb goes off? It's like * punches the air * YES!!!!😁
as someone who loves cables and stuff I love Jacob's ladder!
It's such a cool way to give fabric BIG texture!
What an amazing square! I found it to be easy. Once you do the first two rows, it is easy to see where everything goes and how the pattern falls. Nice job, Jayda! You did great with this one and teaching it! 😊❤
Thank you so much!
Ok. I was going to stop trying but I tried something else. I just watched t video few times without crocheting at t same time and finally got it. My advice is this.. watch it few times until you get it and then try it. It worked for me and I hope it does it to you.
By t way thank you Jayda! Beautiful work!
Thank you Maria! And YES! I totally concur. It's like cooking: it's often a good idea to read through the entire recipe before you start cooking - the same can be said for a pattern or tutorial 😊
Oh my gosh you gave an idea there! 🤪 I should do that when following a recipe too. Thanks
That's really pretty.....looks like something I'm going to mess up a few times 🤦 looks easy but complicated at the same time.
Just take it 1 row at a time, and use those stitch markers 💗
I love 😍 the Jacob's Ladder granny square ⛶. It's beautiful and dimensional. If I was a blind person I could "see it"😊. I love dimensional fiber art work 😊.
I love it too! All that BIG texture 😊
Helps to go through video once and then try to crochet the pattern
Hi Deb, I totally agree! I always read a recipe before I start cooking, I tend to treat crochet and knitting the same way 😊
I also like the pretty collar you are wearing with your sweater in this vide.
Thank you! We have a tutorial for that too here: th-cam.com/video/57h1xf13Pns/w-d-xo.html
Wow awesome granny square i love it ❤
Thank you for watching 😊
I made 4 squares using burgundy, dark blue, emerald green, turquoise and aqua. My first one took so much concentration. By the 4th one it was so easy. Such a beautiful pattern. Can't wait for April! Thanks.
Wonderful! Great colours 😁 Thank you for watching!
Hi Jayda! This is my first time with Jacob's Ladder. Very, very cool. It always looked scary,, lol. Now I know how it's done so maybe one day I'll make a blanket that I've seen others have made. Thank you for clear tutorial 😊. My four squares are done❤
Definitely! It's a cool pattern any way you use it 😊
Ooh...I love this! I did my first Jacob's ladder square in another crochet along last year. It was so much fun.
That is awesome!
thank you
Thank you for watching!
Wow had a hard time finding this today even though I am subscribed could not find any notifications
Hi Crocus! You were the first comment, so I think you found it first thing 😁 It published at exactly 11:00 AM Eastern 💗
First exciting granny for me!!!
Except for the four holes near the beginning circle, this looks close and lovely!
I finally got it! I'm ready to move on. LOL
Woohoo! Granny Square #4 coming this Friday 😊
Running a bit behind in this years squares but this one was really fun!!
Hi Kristie! No rush, my lovely, we've got all year 💗
Also first time here to make a little complicated stitches because of many loops but the outcome is nice..thanks Jayda..its wonderful ..enjoy so much.
We're so happy to hear that! Thank you for watching 😊
Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.💖
Thank you! 😊
This was a bit mind boggling but...3rd attempt and finished it just now. I couldn't cope with the loose loops dangling, so i braided as I went along, stitch marking the corners.
Thank you Jayda 😊
that works too! Awesome 😁
Okay, I ADORE the jacobs ladder stitch. All of my nieces blankets are made with it. However! I really wish I'd known about this pattern sooner! Cause' I coulda used it on my nephews blankets. That way all the cousins could have had more similar blankies. Ah well, thank you for the pattern Teacher Jayda! I will definitely be using it in the future!
TIP: If you feel the braids are too loose. Twist them. When your pulling loop 2 through 1. Twist loop 2 first, and then pull through loop 1. I personally do this, cause it makes the braid feel sturdier to me.
Great tip! Thank you for sharing and watching 💗
nice pattern this granny bit confusing i have watch video couple times love the colors
Hi Eleanor! It's a bit of a challenge, for sure, but the results are so pretty!
First of all i love and always enjoy so much the patterns❤
Though i got to say This pattern was just a little all over the place for mij taste 😂 Respect for jayda and mr and all other crochet friends they totally did made it ❤!!! ;;;;;;;;many hours later I got it!!!!! 🎉😅 keep trying and notebook ❣️
Hi Peggy! That's awesome!!
Loving all the squares, thank-you.
HI Barbara! Thank you for watching 😊
This month's pattern is one that goes much slower than the previous ones, but there's always one or two every year that take more time.
I didn't need any stitch markers as this square gets really square after round two and it's clear since the second round where are the corners. I had a bit of problems with finding the tops of stitches during the few rounds of the first square (I'm making four squares for each pattern), but then it was so easy to crochet without even looking at the video.
Jayda, I really appreciate that you told us how many stitches are per side in every round. That was the most helpful hint to keep everything in order.
A bit of advice: start braiding loops after the second round. It really helped me to see everything much better.
Hi Jane! Thank you so much 😊 and yes! Braiding up the loops as you go will definitely help keep them all more under control!
What a fun look for a granny square! Thank you, Jayda :)
Hi! Thank you so much for watching 😊
Thanks for answering my thoughts about making it bigger
Glad we covered that 😁
Wow!! This one is so beautiful ❤ Thank you Jayda!
Hi Nelly! Thank you for watching 😊
A big thank you Jayda, I love Jacobs stitch it’s so texturally eye engaging delicious. ❤❤ happy crochet Friday ❤❤
I agree completely Kim!
I’ve finally made it on to
round four. I’m on my way now.
🎉😊
You got it Cheryl!! 💗
I can't wait to make this later.I watch these new squares a few times then proceed with construction. Thank you so much!
Have a wonderful weekend Stitches Family ❤
Thank you! You too Gayle!
I've been crocheting since 2015.
This one was a little difficult! Not easy!
I finally figured it out, but I'm not going to stress over making 3 of them.
I just made solid granny squares.
I think it would have helped if Jayda didn't leave us on our own so soon.
Hi Vicki! The solid double crochet granny square is the basis for this square, it might help to think of it like that. The loops are added in the corners and on the middle stitch of each side. I'm glad you hear you got it!
I felt kind of frustrated for the 1st few rows. The loops make it feel very fidley, but once i hit row 4, i started to get the hang of it. I do really like the snowflake look of it, it's very pretty.
Hi Sarah! This one was a challenge for sure, but I have to agree, the results are so pretty 💗
This one is cool! Loves every minute of it!
Wonderful! Thank you for watching 😊
Wow! Very cool looking. I’m going to have to think about this one, might be over my head
Hi Brenda! Be sure to check our our live workshop (pinned in the comment above) we build one nice and slowly while answering questions.
Every month I say I love that month best. This is a fabulous square. I love it the best.
Hi JoJo! I say that too 😂
Fourth try and I finally got it! lol Definitely a tricky one but I like it!!
Love it
Thank you for watching 😊
Good morning 🌄 blessings 🌻 ☕, awesome 👍🏾 and beautiful 😍
Thank you Skettikka! 💗
This is really a beautiful pattern - I've never seen the Jacob's Ladder Granny Square before. Lovely and makes sense. Thanks for the thorough video! Now, where's my yarn?!
Thank you so much for watching Gayle!
Looks like fun. Can’t wait to play with the colors I have.
Thank you for watching Diana 😊
Lindo trabalho,Obrigada por compartilhar
Hi! Thank you for watching 😊
I don't know first hand but I've heard acid will make you hallucinate. Does this look like an octopus on acid to anyone but me?😂😂😂
* giggle * I think you're having a better weekend than I am already 🤣
Good morning! So excited!
Good Morning Amanda!
Beautiful square!
Thank you for watching Diane 😊
From reading the top comments, I was a little intimidated by this pattern, but after getting into it, it was pretty easy. Once I got past the first row or 2, the pattern is easy to pick up. The finished product is definitely worth it.
Hi Dani! I'm so happy to hear that 😊 Thank you for watching!
Gorgeous! Thank you Jayda and Mr. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you, you too!
Oh my how beautiful!! I hope I can do this one!!❤❤
You can do it! Just take it one row at a time and use those stitch markers! 💗
@@JaydaInStitches TY I love the Jacob’s ladder I’ll post when I start, your the best teacher EVER!!

Hi Rose! I hope you enjoy it 😊
This square is so beautiful! Hopefully my squares will look half as good 🎉
You got this!
@Jaydainstitches Why is it ruffled? (Mine-not yours) Too many stitches somewhere?
Wow! Exciting! I can't wait to get started on this one!
Hi Karen! 💗
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
That cool
Thank you for watching 😊
I made àbc blanket
You always give us such great tutorials. Thank you so much.
Hi Cheryl, thank you so much 💗
Ok I’ve watched, next I’ll grab my 🧶 & cuddle down and go through it with you 🤞
That's a great way to do a tutorial Cheryl! I read through a pattern or recipe completely first before I start it too 😁
The stitch markers that Jayda is using are called fabric clips.
I gotta say the last 3 rows were way easier than the first 3 rows. it is beautiful!
Hi Lori! I agree. Once that pattern is established and you're further away from the centre and those loops all have room to sit on their own, it's much easier to SEE the pattern forming.
❤❤❤
I can't wait to get started !
Hi Cathryn!
@@JaydaInStitches Hi Jayda and Mr InS
Great job as always love it
Good morning Bonnie! Thank you for watching 😊

Love this and got to row 3 ! Maybe more later! ❤
Awesome!
So fun so pretty 🌞
Hi Teasea!
Hello 😊
So pretty 😍😍😍
Yay! I’m so excited
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
This month’s square is super lovely. I have a question though. It is considerably larger than the previous ones. Will you address this in the instructions for the final assembly of the blanket?
Hi we address this at the end of the video! It's the same number of rows and stitches. Tension can vary from person to person as can the way a pattern unfolds. My March square is exactly the same size as my January square and my February square is the same height as the other two and just a smidgen skinnier on account of the pattern.
can you make a teddy bear suitcase i saw it look good
