Scotty I watch you faithfully, but I still haven't been able to afford a scan tool this past year (new tires, brake pads & rotors) with other regular maintenance items. I kind of blew through my vehicle emergency fund. I'd absolutely love to have one after listening to all the different times you use them👍

Cars mostly come with a computer display, but it keeps secrets from you. Scam
For real! Its getting to the point that I might not be able to diagnose and do a lot of my own car work because everything is going electronic.
@@DumbledoreMcCracken yeah it's amazing what kind of information you can bring up, with a cheap $10 ODB2 bluetooth module and a $5 app on your android phone. Even on my 2005 car I can bring up so much diagnostics stuff, so I'm not driving around blind to a fault with my engine. Saved me a big diagnostics bill on a bad o2 sensor, I merely had to buy a new one, code solved.
Why do modern cars keep all this information hidden? there should be a button you can press for diags and you have all of this by default.
The reason of course is to a) stop customers coming back in the warranty period for a fault with their engine they wouldn't otherwise have noticed
b) to get cars to fail outside of warranty so they get more money in parts and new car sales

Great work Scotty! I have a background in auto salvage and dismantling cars for used auto parts giant LKQ. I work on my own vehicles 95% of the time and your videos are great fun information and most of the time are spot on.
I use the Blue Driver and im actually pretty impressed. Sometimes i wish i could use it on people to figure out whats wrong with em haha

I use the Horrible-scope for people and find two kinds. Those I walk with and the ones I run from!
Raftika i got it on sale during cyber monday a year ago for 80. I believe he has covered it. They have been really updating it a lot in the last year and i think it has much improved over when it came on the market.
James L how long ago did you try it? I would wonder if it would now since they have been updating its compatibility a lot in the last year or so.

Scotty, I've never owned an OBD scanner before and only recently watched one of your video's where you were using an INNOVA 5160RS. So, I began thinking if this guy uses one of these, why not. It's been a Godsend helping me fix my daughters '03 Jaguar X-Type. I know there's better out there, but I'm gonna tell ya that if a guy like me can fix a Jag with all the problems this one had then it was fantastic info. You're the Best.

@@MasterSelf- - It didn’t work for my 2004 Honda Accord-for cars from Asia, must be 2008 or newer. I ended up buying Scotty’s other recommended OBD scan tool: the BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool. Works great! The only downside is that I have to type in the VIN, as this tool does not retrieve it automatically from the diagnostic port. But since I now have only one vehicle, that’s not an issue. Hope this helped.
