My father had a protruding belly for as long as I can remember. Despite religiously following his doctor advice and taking huge amounts of pills for various things, it was never mentioned that his belly could be a problem. He died of cancer, had spread everywhere but likely to have started in the liver. Big up Dr Berg, you've helped me immensely !

@@Drberg But exercise does help a lot because it significantly reduces stress, anxiety, depression in most persons, which would affect the amount of cortisol in their system which then affects the amount of insulin. It's just not enough by itself to do the job.

@@rachellim5041 Dr. Eric Berg is a chiropractor. It says so in the description box on all his TH-cam videos. You don't need to be a medical doctor to give people good information on how to be healthier. While medical doctors are right about a lot of things, many of them are also wrong about a lot of things too.

That second one hits home. My wife developed that belly. She was a slim woman. She had a blood transfusion due to septicemia before AIDS when blood wasn't screened as much. She got hep C, which shows no symptoms. When her belly first showed, 30 years later, we went to a doc. Less than two months later she was dead from liver cancer. Get tested, people. She could have been saved if she had just had simple tests.

Yes but he isnt entirely 100% correct. I have a male friend with a large beer belly but his liver is functioning well somehow. Also I supposedly am supposed to have tons of visceral fat according to this video, I have very little-I know, I've had numerous MRIs around there for years.
It is always best to try to seek multiple doctors if you have concerns, 2cd opinions don't hurt but they can save lives. (I'd be dead if I had listened to 1st opinions a few times now actually.)

      @SheenaRM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@Craig M No. The two are VERY different. If you just eat fewer calories throughout the day, you will still NEVER see the benefits of fasting.
You can eat 1500 calories a day at 300 lbs and see a huge difference in your body when comparing fasting vs just a calorie deficit. Eating 3-6 small meals at 1500 calories doesn't give you enough time to fast. If you fast you would be eating that 1500 calories within a 1-8 hour window and be in a fasted state the remaining 16-23 hours. Giving your body a heck of a lot more time to not be digesting food but to heal itself and burn fat.
But if you just eat 1500 calories throughout the day as the normal American eats you never truely go into a long enough fast to see the benefits. 8 hours while you sleep is NOT enough....I would even go as far as to say that nothing is really good enough at less than 16 hours of fasting. So again.....NO.....sleep is NOT enough of a fast. 16 - 72hrs and up, is a beneficial fast.

I am not an alcoholic, but was drinking very regularly, I have this sagging belly and seem to bloat everytime I eat. I’m 5 weeks sober I’m fasting and eating almost zero carbs plus lifting weight. My starting weight was 227ibs I’m now down to 217ibs. It’s a very slow process, but the weight is starting to fall. Thankfully I’m 6`2” and big boned so carrying 22ibs of extra weight is easily hidden, but this nasty fat has to go.
It’s sad that at 47 I’ve only just woken up and made this change, but with these great videos and some lifestyle changes progress is being made. My one saving grace in all this, I don’t like sweets, candy, cake or chocolate. I’ve never drank soda and hate fast food. So dietary changes have been really easy. I feel for people that like these kinds of foods, giving them up must be tough.

I stopped all sugars, fast foods and processed foods that day, started losing weight big time but was still getting pains and throwing up so started doing longer fast. I just finished doing a WF for 25 days in Nov and now since Aug 30th I am down 74 lbs and will continue to eat healthy along with adding in more fasting. My goal is to be in the 180-190 range by Feb and then I get my blood panel work done again where I really really hope that my fatty liver is all gone and my high cholesterol is gone..

The only way youll see results is a calorie deficite. While some diets are healthier for you, at the end of the day in order to burn fat anywhere on your body needs to consume less calories than it needs to maintain itself. Good work on the resistance training. I’d focus more on that as it has the added benefit of building muscle which leads to less fat, more strength, etc. of course keep your protein intake high as to maximize that muscle growth while in a deficite you’d want to have more protein in your meals

Even if you look like you're an any category unless a doctor confirms you might actually be OK internally. I have a good amount of belly fat but very little visceral/internal fat. This might be due to my hormone issues vs unhealthy lifestyle thou so it is a symptom of something wrong and has been since childhood.
But I also have a male friend who science says his liver is prolly fatty and not working well-but somehow his liver is FINE, it's not even stressed despite his severe obesity and it amazes me. Didn't believe it till I read the lab work.
Always have a doctor check u out. Blood tests can reveal a LOT! Again I've been having them since childhood, yay severe hypothyroidism hehe.

Since I hit my thirties ten years ago, I started gaining weight because I didn't change much of my eating habits (high carbs, salty or sugar loaded, fast food, etc.) from my teenage years and twenties. All this past decade I thought exercising (I'm an avid runner) would burn and offset all that eating. But no, weight just kept on increasing and so was the waistline widening even if I kept on running. Thanks to these videos, I now know that what's most crucial is what you consume afterall. Several years ago I did something stupid to lose a lot of weight fast but then I gained it back after not eating right. I tried the protein shake, the one where you substitute 1 meal with the shake, but being desperate and people calling me a pregnant man and laughing at me all the time. I replaced all my meals with this shake and about 2-4 months I lost 40lbs of weight getting down to 201, my ideal weight is 175-180, this is what I weighed when I was in my late teen's and early 20's. I've been walking for an hour everyday for going on 6-7 years now, even when there is snow and ice on the road. I only eat about 2-3 times per day. The only sweeter I use is stevia ( I researched the correct version) and I was almost a diabetic a few years ago until I switched from table sugar to stevia. I just need to know what type of liver detox ( I watched your video on the shake to make) and what type of eating plan to use. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For cirrhosis, I would also look into liposomal sodium-compounded R-Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Carnitine. These with a good gamma-tocotrienol supplement, is a powerful combination to rebuild the liver.
The standard Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements are relatively cheap, but not very useful, due to the fact that half the dose is the wrong chimeral form, and the other half is mostly neutralized by stomach acid.

Did progesterone drop after meno? Leaving estrogen high? Get off soy, its in everything, and eat cruciferous veg. Even chicken is fed soy, you eat them you eat what they eat.

I heard in another of his videos that after menopause, it's not that you have too much estrogen but that the ratio of estrogen to progesterone is high. Essentially both are low after menopause but estrogen is relatively high.

Thanks, just started watching your channel. I found out I was heading to pre-diabetic a month ago and changed my diet. I'm not on the Keto diet (I find it too hard to stick to). I do a very very low carb no refined sugar diet. I also started a good multivitamin and doubled my vitamin D (4000 iu). I also started intermittent fasting. Some of your stuff sounds extremely hard, but I've noticed even small changes are making an enormous difference. The more I adjust to the diet the more I want and crave the good foods.
For everyone starting out hang in there! I'm a little over a month in and down over 10 pounds. I already sleep better, have a me balanced mood and no longer get the blood sugar ups and downs.

You are a game changer, thank you so much. I've been really depressed about my stomach since 5th grade I've had this protruding belly although I was skinny and now that I'm getting older, it's only gotten worse. If I drink water or if I put anything into my stomach it makes the effects more drastic and now I'm on a weight loss Journey, in efforts to lose my stomach. However, I seem to be losing weight faster everywhere else. I have the protruding basketball stomach type. I remember going to the doctor and them asking me if I drink and I say no I don't drink at all, I follow a strict healthy diet, and they said that's weird because you're liver levels are high and I didn't know what that could indicate but now that makes sense what you said about the protruding stomach and liver damage. Now I have some basis to find a final solution. Thank you so much Dr. Berg. APTTMH!

omg... I lost it at: the guy on the beach in a speedo! I've seen that! lmao Actually, the most common source of stress is what we are THINKING about other people. People are just being themselves until we observe them and make a judgment about our observation of what they are saying/doing. We do it to ourselves. We'd all be a lot happier if we could MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS! lol

Uncanny. While in a mentally abusive relationship I would workout regularly. I'd hardly eat, yet my belly was enormous, looked like I was 4 months pregnant.
I finally realized and accepted that my ex never loved me and broke up with him. A month later I miraculously began dropping pounds. My belly DRAMATICALLY decreased! Stress induced cortisol is real, folks. It has now been 2 months and I'm already down 20 pounds.
You're right on target again, Dr B 💯

as to the cruciferous vegetables, does it matter much how do I eat them? I can't imagine eating a broccoli or a cauliflower raw, and I don't like them steamed, either.
edit: i haven't mentioned more conventional methods such as cooking and frying because, well, they're conventional AND the most "harmful" to all the good stuff that raw vegetables have.
