Theres also a samurai version. Boxing version. And a western shootout version. And one no one talks about: tekken 3 where your movements are the buttons - it was horrible.
I remember the arcade in my local mall having this machine and seeing the previews for it all the time. Mostly of the bonus stage where you got to fight Darth Vader.
@@alexdonovancole As a Sega Dreamcast lover and day one owner I never understood why this game never came out for the console. Especially when they released some wild stuff for it like Seaman and those fishing games with the controller.
@@ezcompane It may have to do with the fact that it’s pretty short even for an arcade game. The appeal of the game was “immersing” you in Star Wars not necessarily providing hours of gameplay that could be repeated indefinitely. What’s funny is that there is cut content - there are Obi Wan lines that heavily imply that there was going to be an additional lightsaber bonus stage based on the scene in Star Wars 77 where Luke trains on the Millennium Falcon. This is just conjecture though.
Dude i played the star fighter game with the full sized cockpit, and it was WIIIIILLLLDDD. My buddy started playing it too and he’s in the arcade SCREAMING at the top of his lungs while we’re laughing and watching him lol
I actually remembered playing this game! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot of coins with me at the time so I was only able to beat one level.😅 The Hoth one, I believe.
Sega are never given the respect they fully deserve back in the Master System up to Saturn era, far too much Nintendo bias (probably due to America sales). They were the utter kings of arcade with only Namco being second place.
Completed 1CC, all secret actions performed (which is in part what you need to do for top rank) and gained no1 on leader board. Little secrets such as turning off your lightsaber for a secret voice line from the Emperor also. However never realised for YEARS what light and dark side did - apparently light side gives you more defence when hit and dark side gives you faster auto fire, this is mitigated however because I used to press both buttons rapidly to wreck everything anyway lol. Fun fact - This was also the first and only Star Wars game for the longest time that allowed 1:1 lightsaber control. The closest the Wii ever got was with games like Red Steel!
How did you find out about the light and dark side advantages? I never would have noticed that. Also I loved Red Steel. It was my first Wii game and no other Wii game came close to the coolness
One of my most recent amazing memories was finding one at a bar/arcade called Baxters in a place called Chapel Hill North Carolina. It was on the way to seeing Iron Maiden in Charlotte back in November and it was so fun to play. They also had the original soul calibur, Mortal kombat 4, street fighter 2, some light gun games and even a gauntlet game.
I recognized that one basement shot!! Thanks for the credit! And yeah, when I was first able to emulate this back in 2020 I was so happy Getting an original years later was just a bonus 🎉
Well not to be the bearer of bad news but it wasnt running 100% for me. I had to stitch multiple takes together because the graphics would randomly glitch out. It was still playable, but not exactly ideal. I was really dying to play this though and it did the job fairly well. Still, nothing beats the actual cabinet
@WesDoesGames Alas! I guess it's not a priority for the emulation scene. I consideref just buying the cabinet, but it had a $5,000 price tag the last time I checked. To be fair that was 2015, I have no idea how much it would go for now.
Still puzzled about the Nintendo Wii not getting a port of this game. Everything was ultra perfect. How could it not get a port? I guess some people really hate money.
Pretty sure it was actually considered as an add-on for what would have been the Wii collection for the Rogue Squadron games. So, too small for its own thing, but would have been a neat extra on that game
I may have missed it in the video but what emulator are you using? I've been playing it in Supermodel for the last four years but the graphical issues I've had on that emu kinda suck. Your footage doesn't have any of those artifacts, I'd love to know what you're using
Also Supermodel. I don't know if theres any other option? The footage was spliced together from multiple takes. Plenty of times the video frame would just shift for no reason and be weird. This game definitely isn't all the way there yet for emulation. Someday I'd love to buy an actual cabinet for this
@WesDoesGames oh, that client you're using is Supermodel? Mine must be an ancient version then, I'll have to upgrade. Mine needs to be launched from the command line, it didn't have a stable frontend build back in 2020 when I got it. Thank you! I'm excited that the emulator got better!
Weird I JUST beat this on Supermodel emulator like 3 days ago, I played it a bunch in the arcade as a kid but never to completion because it was like .75 or a dollar a play at most arcades which was a lot! Is there a "good" ending because I lost to Boba Fett?
@@WesDoesGames Good to know, thanks. I just looked up the FAQ and if there's no differences then it's just a fun, score attack game. Which I'm fine with! Highly recommend playing it on arcade for those who encounter one, the subwoofer and SOUND experience in the real machine is awesome!
I remember watching the last season of Lost, but I don’t actually remember the last season of Lost. Like any of it. I think I remember not liking it. Now this Star Wars Arcade game, on the other hand, I remember quite fondly. I remember the light saber battles. Anyways, that is all… and the final season of Lost sucks.
What are some memories you have with this game?
Theres also a samurai version. Boxing version. And a western shootout version. And one no one talks about: tekken 3 where your movements are the buttons - it was horrible.
I played this so much I STILL have muscle memory for like 95% of it
I loved this arcade game, I used to play it at a gas station arcade in Indiana...
The arcade where I grew up used to have this machine right next to the Pod Racer machine.
I remember the arcade in my local mall having this machine and seeing the previews for it all the time. Mostly of the bonus stage where you got to fight Darth Vader.
that was peak excitement as a kid
Been waiting YEARS for a home port of this masterpiece
I would love that
There were plans for a Dreamcast version that never materialized.

I used to play this all the time in college. They had an arcade cabinet on campus
Count me in. I’ll be keeping an eye out for your vids.
Glad to have you!
Twice a month, i go to a local arcade bar that has one of these and play through this.
Lucky

Sega made the best arcade games in our era! They were the trend setters.
-Daytona
-House of the dead
-Virtua fighter
-The lost world: Jurassic park

That's awesome
Every time I go to an arcade I try and play this game, it’s embedded in my muscle memory 😂

Getting an original years later was just a bonus 🎉
I'm green with jealous rage
🤣
I worked at the arcade back then, it was perfectly crafted
Great video dude! Glad you went there with the joystick jokes! And love the bit of Kirby music slotted in there 👌
Thanks! 😄
I'm so glad that the emulation for this game is finally up to spec. The last time I tried it it was horrendous. Now I have to pick up a joystick

I do. I think a restaurant in my area had a cabinet of it as a kid.
I remember being laughably bad at it though.
Played it and beat it!
I never got to play it, since there's always someone on the machine!
I beat this game like 3 or 4 times. The Boba Fett and Darth Vader levels are hard.
Being able to swing a light saber was so cool as a kid
Still puzzled about the Nintendo Wii not getting a port of this game. Everything was ultra perfect. How could it not get a port? I guess some people really hate money.
It's probably too short to be considered for a full-on game. Maybe if it was included as part of an arcade collection that'd be nice
Pretty sure it was actually considered as an add-on for what would have been the Wii collection for the Rogue Squadron games. So, too small for its own thing, but would have been a neat extra on that game
Beat Saber? We have Star Wars VR game already!! Come one!! We fight with Vader. Its amazing ⭐️ 4:42
Are you talking about Vader Immortal?
@@WesDoesGames yes! Perfection 😊
Honestly surprised Sega or Disney havent remastered/ported this yet.
Sega has to remake/remaster Skies of Arcadia and a bunch of other classics, but for some reason they seem to have no interest
I do and I beat it at the arcade.
I remember this but I don't think I ever played it in arcades. Wasn't this included as part of a bonus in one of the rogue squadron games?
They had this in my student union. Blew more of my student loan on it than I should have. I did beat it though!

It makes no difference lol. The game is pretty bare bones with the bonuses but it is a short game

How to get this work properly? I tried to rin it using mame, but I had some graphical glitches.

Hard disagree about Lost
Game was ported to the genesis 32x

I think this is a different game. This came out in 93, Trilogy arcade came out in 98. I'm curious to play this one though
@WesDoesGames dang, I got excited for no reason 😭
