Oh my lord this would have been so good Honestly kinda surprised at how fun the campaign looks and it's cool that they were planning to link the game with The Force Unleashed, but damn the multiplayer would have been incredible
It always makes me giddy when characters from the EU ahow up in other stuff. One of the reasons i got into SW was because of the interconnectedness of it all. It never made any sense and this actually explains the story of the game and mechanics in battlefront 3. So this was the complete build combining the Wii version and 360 version huh interesting. it also looks like EA rehashed this idea of an Empire Member defecting to the Rebels like in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017). The Story of Star Wars Battlefront 3 is more original than that story we got on the 2017 battlefront what a joke. they really scraped a game that only needed 8 to 10 more months of work unbelievable

I hope they manage to implement the other control schemes. There are so many great games on Wii that would be a lot more playable without waggle controls.
Same with the DS/3DS and its touch screen controls. Kid Icarus Uprising and Metroid Prime Hunters would have been so much better with Duel analog controls.
@@matane2465 I can kind of understand it when it comes tom exclusive games. What I don't get it when multiplatform games exclude the traditional control schemes. So I can understand having waggle controls as an option but why on Earth are the traditional controls removed?
As bittersweet and nostalgic this feels, part of me DOES feel hope from this. Granted, it's a long shot, but I hope we get to see aspects of BF3/Elite Squadron made into canon, and more importantly, we get to see clones like X1 and X2 in canon, since we have unique clones like Clone Force 99, Omega, and Emerie, and Moff Gideon's clone army in Mandalorian S3. On one hand, with Snoke and Palpatine's clone in Episode 9, it could work, but not without changes.
As a big SWBF1+2 fan, it saddens me that this game was never finished. I celebrate the FRD archice team for their ongoing efforts to fix up the game, but patching a compiled build can be such a tedious and time consuming task. I was on the small team who worked to fix the broken PC port of TimeSplitters 2 (another Free Radical game) contained within Homefront 2 and I saw and experienced what it's like patching memory and flying blind trying to fix compiled code like that. It's dramatically harder working on a compiled build than working in the original code itself. There needs to be laws that protect developers who decide to leak/share abandoned protects like this, and a cultural change around the act of doing so too. We have a build of SWBF3, but imagine what having the source code would mean. Imagine community-based teams forming around finishing this game. You know this exists on some former Free Radical employee's hard drive somewhere in its entirety but devs don't release stuff like this because it can come back to bite them personally. They'll be known as a leaker, it hurts their reputation in the industry, and often there's NDA's to contend with. We need something akin to whistleblower protections but for developers sitting on protects like this. Like after 20 years, it goes into public domain, similar to copyright law. With TS2, I know for a fact there's working modern PC builds of the game with multiplayer support and more thats fans of the series would love to experience, beyond the Homefront 2 version. But the developer who has it can't release it due to the company who owns the IP sitting on it, hoping to do something with it eventually... if ever. It's a shame games like this will remain locked away in a vault because of licensing, copyright, and cultural obstacles. I get that it's a business and remasters are a thing, but there has to be a better balance that can be reached that would allow a dev to share the source without risking their professional career and opening themselves up to legal risks. After so many decades, if your studio fails to act, then at least let fans take on the burden and work on it in their spare time as opposed to letting countless projects (like SWBF3) be lost to history.
I had Elite Squadron on the PSP which is pretty similar to this campaign wise, but downscaled quite a bit. Man, absolutely wild to see what this full game could've been! I always wondered.

dat starussy tho
It is funny but I think I would have been really surprised to see General Kota in this game's story. Back then, I wasn't used to this kind of.crossovers which are happening all the time now. Good memories of a decade when Star Wars was really ambitious.
When I saw Kota I was floored. How much we missed out on…
The cruiser crash on the shield was recycled in Force Unleashed 2 and Rogue One
By today's standards, this would have been an acceptable release for a 2024 full priced title.
Damn this would have been cool. Yet another prototype that will haunt me like dinosaur planet and Rayman 4.
Not a prototype though.
We truly live in the bad timeline where Battlefront 3 didn't come out
Oh my lord this would have been so good
Honestly kinda surprised at how fun the campaign looks and it's cool that they were planning to link the game with The Force Unleashed, but damn the multiplayer would have been incredible
It always makes me giddy when characters from the EU ahow up in other stuff. One of the reasons i got into SW was because of the interconnectedness of it all.
Seeing Kota in another game is just great.
I was hoping they'd do more of that in the 3D Clone Wars' original run (throw in Kota, General Mohc, etc) but alas
This is a huge find!
The fact that there could have been a ton of childhood memories associated with this game if it would have been made…
My god, I truly can not wait for in a few months for the community to make an actually Battlefront 3 thanks to this.
More like a few years. If there's enough debug flags to be able to reverse engineer this at all.
My childhood was waiting for this and 1313 along with republic commando 2. I was born in 2002 my older brother is 5 years older than me and had me playing ps1,Atari,ps2, etc. He got me into Star Wars and I love it til this day. The memories are great staying up late on the ps2 with no memory card so we would leave it on 😂. I also remember watching the teaser for 1313 with him and being hyped.
This and First assault are genuinely the biggest missed opportunities
General kota! I love it when games are linked to each other. They even added dark troopers, so we could even see Kyle Katarn and Dash Rendar. If only...
"I had no choice"
"Neither do I"
this is the hardest an unreleased game went
5:09 feels like a nod to the Roger scene in Airplane!
Man it's crazy how Elite Squadron managed to bring a lot of this to life but I'd love to see this come to full fruition for real. Maybe one day Lucasfilm can bring back Lucasarts and have this finished, or at least make a new Battlefront 3 that follows the mechanics. But as a big EU fan, I sure hope if that happens that they follow the story and continuity too.
This gives me hope that one day we might get a leak of Prey 2. That and Battlefront 3 were the holy grails of canceled video games, two games said to be nearly finished but canned before release. Here's hoping that someone finds a good workable build on some old hard drive somewhere of Prey 2.
I remember hearing rumors about this back in the day and being so pumped for it! When I heard it was cancelled, it broke my 10-ish-year-old heart. I am shocked to see how far along it was... To see all these years later that basically the entire campaign is playable is completely mind-blowing to me. Such a shame we never got to see the finished product. Imagine if this was released alongside the Force Unleashed with a similar degree of polish, it would've been too much for my young brain to handle!!
Might as well finish the game ourselves.
Glad we got a taste with Elite Squadron on Psp.
Didn't know Harry Kane was a cloned Jedi before his football career.
I want to play that game!
We all do
You can with Dolphin
@@hugocastilla3102 what’s Dolphin
I have a Wii so how would I play it
@@redandroyalfilms8019 the best (and honestly only) GameCube/Wii emulator on PC. That's currently the only way to play the demo as far as I know.
You can't even play it on a modded Wii, because the dev version still uses more memory than what a normal Wii is capable of use if I understand it correctly.
@@redandroyalfilms8019 Dolphin is a mammal not a fish. You will need an aquarium of atleast 10 million gallons and you will need things for it to do. They WILL get bored
Wish we got it
whenever we get more leaks or hear more about this game i just get more pissed off
if you also consider the flagship version was probably further along by this point, its pretty obvious they were almost done
It is criminal they put this to a stop.
This is also ridiculously impressive for a Wii game. Pretty crazy stuff.
This looks as if it could have been the best Star Wars game on the Wii.
They really really need to give this to a developer so they can polish this up and release it. Its an uncut/unpolished gem and these gems deserve a polish and cutting!
All EA had to do was finish this, and they would have gained our trust.
So insanely impressive and this was the Wii port too. We were absolutely robbed. Free Radical's work on the TimeSplitters series was incredible and this would've been the best Star Wars game to ever release. The gameplay and storytelling were just so damn good pre-Disney
I need a comparison of this and Star Wars Elite Squadron!
That broken yoda joke was insanely funny
I love Obi Wan's derpy Scooby Doo run animation! 😂
I really wonder what the finished graphics of this would have looked like on the 360.
I liked the DS version of the Mustafar level, there were a few stormtroopers but a lot of the guys you were fighting were old droids from the Clone Wars.
6:54 is that Commander Deviss!?
Damn this actually was gonna be a really great game I’m sad they didn’t do it
I know someone who worked on the game right before its cancellation. They were fresh out of Uni and mostly working on vehicle physics.
wow what a great time to be alive. I remember when I saw leaks of this game and shortly after news dropped it was cancelled.
In alternative universe we have this and 1313 and we are all richer for the experience.😢
The game's story is miles above than EA's Battlefront II.
I do have to wonder if we could see Aspyr finish and release Battlefront III as part of their ongoing Star Wars Heritage series someday.
"if into the battlefront 3 archives only pain will you find" - master yoda
seriously it hurts that we almost got this but lucasarts just weren't willing to give us this awesomeness because it was taking too long and they were to focused on short term releases
Perhaps my favourite Spider-Man game is Web of Shadows. Now other than a small graphical downgrade the Wii port is identical to the Xbox 360 version.
I hope to god that happens I remember playing elite squadron on the psp and the ds and I have dreamed of its somewhat becoming canon
If this actually came out on the Wii I know it would have been my most played game
Luke returning to Mustafar and sensing the echoes of his father’s metamorphosis into Darth Vader is something I hope they revisit in canon
The fact that this was gonna run on a Wii is purely insane.
They only needed about 8 more months to finish the game?!?! We all were straight up robbed
This is amazing. I love the pulpy Bantham era vibe
7:55 Don't let the fact that this game looks awesome distract from the fact that it predicted force healing.
Someone mod this game so we can all play it. It's like the Holy Grail of Battlefront
I thought master Kota didn't trust Clone Troopers?
bruh... these devs were cooking.
I had Elite Squadron on the PSP which is pretty similar to this campaign wise, but downscaled quite a bit. Man, absolutely wild to see what this full game could've been! I always wondered.
This was a great overview! Thank you!
This was when they still had fun with star wars, bummer, but a great video!!!! Happy New Year!!!
8:40 the 360 version can also make a decent analogue for the Death Star Prototype that was being kept under wraps at the Maw Installation at the time, considering that there are very few official images of the thing...
Star Wars Battlefront 3 is real Star Wars, whereas Star War Outlaws is well no one really knows what it is. Disney and Ubisoft make a lot of garbage and it's sad that it's been like that for years now.
