  • Rigging eyes using Rigify is not very intuitive. You have to search for the bones to parent them to and they are initially hidden. In this quick tip I will show you where to find those bones and how to bind your model's eyes to them.

    Thank you for sharing this info, its oddly glanced over information that quite a few tutorials don't cover. So, again thank you, you made my day a lot smoother!

    Great video. This was really helpful. It is quite difficult to find videos on TH-cam that are more than just a basic "how to get started with rigify". If you are looking for ideas, another neat video might be how to add hair with parenting and potentially bones to control the hair.

    It's such a shame that blender has these really powerful tools and such in it, but they are so convoluted to use and you have to rely exclusively on third party tutorials, that being said, fantastic tutorial, quick, concise, and easy to understand.

    Hello, Do the eyes have to have they're pivot point in individual origins and their origins in the center of each of them? this worked for me but the eyes bulge out of the head when I move the controls

    when I export this as an fbx, the eyes doesn't work. They just stay still like they aren't parented. Same happened with hair which I then weight painted complete red to spine 6 and that works fine. But the eyes aren't working. What am I supposed to do?

    If anybody is confused how to select both the eyes and bones at the same time, go to Edit > Lock Object Modes and disable that.
    Then select the armature in pose mode. Then go back to your eye mesh in object mode, select it FIRST, then select the eye bone you need.

    Hey Vince I can't select the eye then switch to pose mode, what am I doing wrong? Great vid tip. I feel Im so close to completing a character but my eyes didn't move... Again can't switch to pose with my eye selected how do I, thanks

    • @GetGoodwithVince
      @GetGoodwithVince  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Friend. Glad you liked the tip. This might help. Under the Edit menu right between File and Render there is an option called Lock Object Modes with a checkbox next to it. Make sure that is unchecked. When it is checked you can't be in different modes for different objects, like in object mode for your mesh and pose mode for your armature. Let me know is this is not clear and I can put together a quick video.

    please help , whene I select the Eye I can't select the bone in pose mode like what you doing , how can I fix that

    • @GetGoodwithVince
      @GetGoodwithVince  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at my computer right now but check if you have lock object modes selected under the edit menu. If you do that means you can only select items that are in the current mode. Unchecking that box might solve your problem.

     Same problem as Pao
     @Get Good! with Vince I have the same problem. Example when I bend my character forward. the EYES geometry (spheres) just fall out. like. When I was using MAYA it would be called a double translation(?) Its like the eye balls are NOT parent/constrained to any bones. Note they will pivot and follow the eye contrl in front of the face but they will NOT stay in the head. Thanks for any help. peace

    • @GetGoodwithVince
      @GetGoodwithVince  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know exactly what you mean with regard to the double transform. I used to use Maya myself and I’ve encountered that problem, however I’ve never seen it in Blender. I assume it could happen due to the ability to paint weights over 1 for each vertex. I would say make sure that your eyes are not weighted to any other bones by checking the associated vertex groups.

    • @GetGoodwithVince
      @GetGoodwithVince  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it helped! When you say "the eyes will not stay in their proper place" are you referring to the mesh of the eyes or the bones they are parented to?
