Right! I was reading comments and someone was like "45 min. Play time" and I was thinking there is no way that was 45 minutes. But yes I did just spend 45 minutes watching someone make a former Doritos and it seemed like 15 minutes lol
Hi Claire! An idea to potentially improve your recipe. In addition to the monosodium glutamate that is providing umami, the original Doritos also contains both disodium inosinate and guanylate, which are chemicals that boost the umami sensation on the tongue. This is the main idea behind the basic Japanese dashi where Kombu (containing monosodium glutamate) and Bonito flakes (containing inosinate) combine synergistically to make a wonderful yet simple stock. Guanylate can be found in abundance in dried shiitake mushrooms. So what I would suggest you try adding to your recipe in small amounts are 1) powdered bonito flakes and 2) dried shiitake mushroom powder. Hope this helps! :)

Claire you have the perfect iterative process of testing and improving. Major food products have extraordinarily high amplitude flavor profiles (like Howard Moscowitz describes via Malcolm Gladwell's Ted Talk on Choice, Happiness, and Spaghetti Sauce). It's so tough to get a blended amplitude flavor profile where you don't taste outlier elements separately. Example: generic cola tastes like a bunch of different flavors: cinnamon, caramel, corn syrup vs. a Coke which tastes like a Coke. The difference is how carefully blended and balanced the flavors are.
Andrew uhm wtf are you even talking about??? Netflix is a billion dollar company and giving this segment a series will just be putting more money in her pocket. Some of us don’t mind paying to support our favorite content creators.

Me too
Claire you have the perfect iterative process of testing and improving.
“Gonna cut them into random shapes”
*cuts in triangles*
Deborah Smith i was so confused abt that lmao
gabrielle elizabeth I feel like she probably just wanted them to look similar on instinct
''Put some Tequila in it''
Claire: *Laughs and briefly considers it*
46 minutes?? Netflix original series when?
Cuckold asking to pay 19.99/mo instead of watching for free on youtube
whats wrong with you
@@asdf12347109 that's a content I'd actually like to pay for
ugh boots lol I’d rather watch the same show here for free...
Andrew uhm wtf are you even talking about??? Netflix is a billion dollar company and giving this segment a series will just be putting more money in her pocket. Some of us don’t mind paying to support our favorite content creators.
Can't lie it makes me appreciate Doritos so much more lol
Another golden Chris quote at 27:06
Romano? Excuse me.
I love absolutely everybody in the test kitchen. They each have such specific personalities it's almost like characters in a TV show.
It’s like parks and rec but real
So true
Almost like they're actual human beings with their own lives
that's just.. people?
She's saying that you can see their personalities well in this web series after watching for a while. Not everyone seems genuine on youtube.
The "Claire Makes Gourmet" series is one of my absolute favorites on TH-cam! I love the way everyone pitches in to help, even if they are busy with other things. And Chris is always so helpful in getting the components of the flavor/texture etc... just right!
Until Chris tells you temper the chocolate but Claire doesn't do that 😂
Gabi talking about how latinos can fix anything with tape and wire, gotta love our creativity. In brazil we call them "gambiarras" and it makes the world go round
"Remember when I fixed the ice machine with tape and cardboard?" 😂😂 Gaby I love you
Marleny Tello 😂😂😂 I just want to be her friend! I’d never stop laughing!
Raman should do the trick ;)
*Sees title* "Oh cool, Doritos should be fun!"
*Sees duration* "Oh no."
Holy crap. I watched this episode and didn't even realize how long it was.
exactly ,, I saw it was over 40 minutes ,, and thought ,, LOL nah this aint going to be easy :)
Claire: "So far I'm not despairing"
*sees duration*
Oh. Oh you poor unfortunate soul.
I love Claire because she never gives up and this series is like a perfectionists dream.
Chris is my favourite because of his honesty and willingness to help when Claire calls out to him. He's a sweetheart.
Claire always gives up lol.
Larry Chunk then why do you watch? And at some point she kinda has to she can’t continue the video for weeks on end, plus recreating things that are manufactured seems pretty difficult
Larry Chunk your name's larry, next
The effort and time that Claire puts in every episode makes these videos addictive and makes me love her more and more
