I blend regular or silken tofu with soy milk and add a little bit of chickpea flour to thicken it to make vegan omelette. It has even more protein and tastes almost like the egg omelette
Hello! Thank you for watching! You have a good idea for making vegan omelette! This is tofu toast recipe, it's a bit different! Both versions are delicious! Have a wonderful day! 😊💖
This is a vegan cheese omelette! I need to try it with the filling I used to put in veggie omelettes. It was a mixture of sautéed onions, mushrooms, sweet peppers, and sometimes, olives. I'd love to have omelettes back on my menu. They are such a quick and easy dinner.
Hello! 🌷 Yes, you are absolutely right, it's very much like a vegan cheese omelette and in fact it's more like a Japanese vegan Omelette and it's cooked on Japanese Omelette style pan (it's very useful for this recipe)! Thank you for visiting my channel! Wishing you a nice day! 😊 💖
Just made this for lunch (were I live lunch is the biggest meal of the day and always warm), sadly did not have chickpea flour (even though I love it and I'm sure it would have been even better with chickpea flour) so I used wheat flour, and I used fresh chives instead of green onions. Added some black salt too, and it tasted amazing! With the help of two spatulas I even got it in a square shape without a square pan. Family loved it! 🥰🌱
Hello Cindy! 🤗 Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and feedback! So good to hear that you made it and your whole mail enjoyed it - I am so pleased and happy! @cindy You probably know this but just in case: Chickpea flour + water = an egg substitute (not for flavor, but as a binder). Useful if you don't or can't use eggs.
Probably already in the comments somewhere but when I try it I'll be adding about 1/4 teaspoon of black salt ('kala namak' - available in most Indian stores), to make it more eggy.
@@karimylo4002 when I use black salt I generally (instead of adding it to the mixture) I sprinkle it on top. Less is needed for the same amount of egginess flavor. This looks so good, trying it soon.

Thank you for the recipe! I have now attempts this twice, without much success. I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions. 1. How cooked (or how wet) is the inside when this is done cooking? I think it needs to be relatively cooked, since the batter doesn't taste good raw? 2. How long are you cooking it on each side? My experience so far is that I'm ending up with burned outside and undercooked inside, which makes me think maybe I need to cook it for (much?) longer at lower temperature, but I'm already doing a few minutes a side. Any advice welcome! It looks delicious in your video.
Hello! Thank you for your questions. 1. The inside should be cooked. 2. You need to cook it on a medium low so it does not get burned outside and cooks better inside. Also do not make it too think. I suggest to make it rather thin as I show in the video. I hope it works for you! 😊 💖
I bet you could also leave out the diced vegetables. Sometimes vegetables, since they are raw, will leak water into the mixture. Also: try putting a lid over it after you do the flip. A lid should intensify the heat in the center.
Delicious! Ive just made this with a couple of tweaks... My tofu was quite wet so added in just a smidge of plant milk, I live in the UK so used Organic Cauldron Tofu ( half pack ) to 1/4 cup of chickpea flour, snoothed really well 😊 i didnt have spring onion so used dried chives and onion powder. No nooch so used the left over Tyne chease from Christmas which is soft to blend in the mixture. I cooked the underside first, grilled the top for a few minutes then added Cathedral city (UK ) extra mature and it was superduper 💚
Going to try this recipe. Due to health reasons I am moving to a more plant based diet. I have subscribed and am looking forward to trying more of your recipes.

Hello! Thank you so much for your feedback and valuable suggestion! Will try to use soy sauce instead of salt and add a sweetener next time I make it! Have a nice day! 😊 💖
I decided to eat a plant-based diet two weeks ago and there's so much I'm discovering - such as nutritional yeast. At the organic food store in the small town near where I live I bought my first bag of it this morning along with chickpea flour and then I made this galette. I decided I would use up the last of the cheese I had in the fridge so that was goodbye to a few slices of Gruyère and the last of the real Mozzarella. It was DELICIOUS. Thanks for this recipe. Though I used my old cast iron skillet and not anything like that weird coal scuttle thing you used lol!
My partner loves vegan cheese so he would love this I think I would switch mine up and cook some mushroom slices and a little spinach and have that as the filling.

@@WeCookVegan I am a vegan firstly for health reasons secondly for ethical reasons and so I like to see simple dishes and we have all the ingredients to make this in our fridge Though the pan you use is cool what is its make and name?
Hi John, well done for being vegan! This type of pan called "Japanese Omelette pan" or " Tamagoyaki pan". My pan does not have a brand name on it but you will find a lot of options online I am sure. When making this dish please press it down with a spatula several times on all side, it helps to hold it together!
You are most welcome Michele! Happy you like the recipe! I will make more recipes with tamagayaki pan, so do not hesitate to get one! I love it! Have a nice day! 😊 💖
👋 Hello Wanda and welcome! Thank you so much for watching! Happy you like the recipe! This is Japanese omelette pan (Tamagoyaki pan). Hope you enjoy! Sending you my best wishes! 🌞 😊 💖
I absolutely love this comforting and rich breakfast! Unfortunately where I live vegan cheese is still rare or very expensive. Silken tofu scramble may be a nice substitute for a creamy interior.
Hello! Nice to see you back! 💕 🤗 💕 I hope you are having a nice day! Yes you can substitute cheese for a tofu scramble and if you have nutritional yeast please add to the tofu scramble to get a savoury flavour that resembles cheese. Wishing you a lovely weekend! 👍 🎉
I translated it for you: Vegan mozzarella: 80 g white tofu (Sunfood, Lunter) OR soaked cashew nuts OR a combination of both 20 g tapioca flour (3 tbsp) alternatively cornstarch but tapioca works better 10 g salt (2 tsp) 10 g agar agar (4 tsp) 2,50 g of nutritional yeast (2 tsp) 2 g sugar ( 1/2 tsp) 1 g citric acid (1/4 tsp) alternatively vinegar or lemon (2 tsp) 400 ml water 60 g unscented coconut oil alternatively other neutral oil - I like olive oil since mozzarella is an italian cheese after all 4 g psyllium plus 30 ml water optional - for making the cheese more stretchy Preparation: Mozzarella cheese is very white in colour and neutral in taste. That's why I use unscented coconut oil, citric acid (you can get it at any grocery store for boiling supplies), tapioca flour (you can get it at a health food store, but you can find cornstarch at your regular grocery store, which is also fine) for thickening, and tofu. If you don't have any of these ingredients, feel free to substitute, but it will change the meltiness, color, or flavor of the cheese a bit. Mainly the tasteless/flavorless oil and citric acid make for a neutral flavor. I just lightly season the mozzarella with nutritional yeast. You can use more of it if you want a stronger flavor. You can find nutritional yeast in health food stores, but it's now appearing in larger supermarkets. If you had vegan lactic acid at home, that would be ideal for flavouring plantbased cheese - that's for very keen cooks. Agar agar is a vegetable gelling agent and an alternative to gelatine. It makes the cheese harden beautifully and can also be grated. Some brands have slightly different properties but all should work. Some take longer to melt beautifully, some just don't. Ideally use pure agar agar powder. Vegan mozzarella cheese without tofu If you have an allergy to soy, replace it with cashews. Just soak the cashews in water overnight or boil them in hot water to soften them. Stretchy vegan mozzarella cheese Psyllium makes vegan cheese more stretchy when melted. It has a light brown color and the vegan mozzarella isn't as beautifully white afterwards, so only use it when you're more concerned with stretching than appearance. You can get it at health food stores or pharmacies. Mix 4 g of finely ground psyllium (1,5 - 2 tsp) and 30 ml of water. Allow the mixture to thicken for a minute and add to the other ingredients before blending.
@@jumano my goodness, thanks for taking the time to share this vegan cheese recipe with me. In fact, I have access to all of the ingredients and I didn’t realize it was so straightforward to make. Thanks!
@@alcyonae you're so welcome, I saved it so I can share it with other english speakers, too. If you use olive oil, the cheese is going to be softer. Odorless coconut oil should result in a shreddable / slicable block but I never tried it. The original recipe calls for a lot of oil btw. You can reduce that if you like.
@@alcyonae what I like about this is the fact that it has more nutritional value than most store-bought vegan cheeses that consist of oil, starch and aroma.
Hello! Nutritional yeast need to add cheese/nutty taste to the dish. You can skip it if you like . if you are not a vegan you can add one egg. Nutritional yeast has a unique savory flavor that resembles cheese. Nutritional yeast can add more texture to cold dishes like salads and yet turns creamier when added to hot dishes.Have a nice day! 😊 💖
Hello! 🤗Thank you for your comment and visiting my channel!🙏😊 If you live in UK you have a good choice for vegan cheese. You can try different brands and find the one you like. Yo, I actually have all these ingredients on hand, making this right effing now. I have lactose intolerance, and unless eggs are cooked a specific way they make me super sick. This kind of dish might be just the kind of thing I've been looking for to replace all the omelette dishes I used to love so much.
Hello Laurene! Thank you for watching my video and your comment! You can also make "scrambled eggs" with this recipe if you like. Hope you enjoy! Wishing you a nice weekend! 😊 💖
I tried this just now and it turned out more like scrambled eggs. How do really get that texture when it cooks at 3:00 and 3:26? (I didn't have nutritional yeast though. I replaced with curry powder)
Hello JD! Thank you so much for watching and your comment! You need to press each side repeatedly while it cooks to get the texture and it should work fine. Nutritional yeast is optional and it's fine to replace it with curry powder, Sending you my best wishes! 🌞 😊 💖
@@WeCookVeganI will try again today. It is like a sandwich without the carbs and with the proteins. It's amazing what we can do with tofu and a bit of imagination. This would have never crossed my mind. Thanks for sharing. Ps: since this is already 1 year old have you "improved" on it?
Great recipe. I will give it a try and just fold it over in a half moon since I don't have a square pan. I have never see one before but I read the comments below that it is used in asian cooking.

👋 Hello and welcome! 🌷 Thank you so much for watching and sharing my video! Happy you like the recipe! Hope you enjoy it! Sending you my best wishes! 🌞 😊 💖
Well I finally got around to making this. It was awesome. Very good. I bought the Japanese skillet about 5 weeks ago. Bought the tofu about two weeks ago. Purchased a tofu press off Amazon that arrived last week. Put the tofu in the press two days ago….and this morning the planets seemed to align for it and i decided to give it a go. The tofu was a brick. No water left. I had drained off more than a cup over two days. I have never used tofu so the texture was exciting to feel as I now understand how some people make ‘meat’ out of it. Mixed it all up and put it in the heated pan. It is simply too soft to flip without breaking. I tried several times but it broke all over. Could have made scrambled eggs. Instead I used the spatula to press it all back down together. Eventually this allowed me to flip most of it. Then I put the cheeses on the flipped part, flipped the broken parts and filled them into the gaps. Cooked it awhile on one side - then used two spatulas to flip the whole thing. Then let it slide out of the pan onto a plate. Ate it with a fork - like an omelet. Surprisingly just like eggs. Maybe next time I’ll add a teeny bit of konjac powder to give it more structure and cohesion. But this is definitely a keeper. Thank you for posting it.
hello! Thank you for your feedback! I am happy you found the dish yummy! Sorry it did not hold together. You need to push each side and hold for some time (20-30 seconds each side) when frying, it helps to hold everything together. Also Japanese Omelette pan like I use in the video helps a lot! Wishing you a nice and relaxing weekend! 😊 💖

So happy to hear you enjoyed! Thank you for contributing your review❤️
Wow that carrot cut!

Hello and welcome! 😊💖Thank you so much for watching! You do not have to be a vegan to enjoy recipes! Congrats on becoming a vegan! Well done!👍👏👏👏🎉
This is absolutely my favorite thing to eat since going vegan! I make it every week. So good!
Thank you so much! I'm pleased to hear that😸💗⭐️
This looks very good. If you use soy sauce instead of salt and add a sweetener, you almost get something similar to tamagoyaki.
Though I used my old cast iron skillet and not anything like that weird coal scuttle thing you used lol!
thank you for watching! Im delighted you enjoyed this recipe and I hope you are enjoying eating plant based!😁🫶🍽️
Amazing Vegan omelette!
Thank you so much! So pleased you like it! 😊 💖
Yum this looks delicious! Brilliant way to use tofu ....I like sliced Tomato in my grilled cheese so I'll add Tomato slices to this recipe
Thank you so much for commenting and watching❤️
My partner loves vegan cheese so
he would love this
I think I would switch mine up
and cook some mushroom slices and a little spinach
and have that as the filling.

BTW we will likely have this as an evening meal
Hi John, well done for being vegan! This type of pan called "Japanese Omelette pan" or " Tamagoyaki pan". My pan does not have a brand name on it but you will find a lot of options online I am sure. When making this dish please press it down with a spatula several times on all side, it helps to hold it together!
Good idea! 👍✨
Oh my! This looks incredibly delicious!

Thank you so much Kira for watching and subscribing! 🙏 🌷Sending you my best wishes!
I translated it for you:
Vegan mozzarella:
80 g white tofu (Sunfood, Lunter)
OR soaked cashew nuts OR a combination of both
20 g tapioca flour (3 tbsp)
alternatively cornstarch but tapioca works better
10 g salt (2 tsp)
10 g agar agar (4 tsp)
2,50 g of nutritional yeast (2 tsp)
2 g sugar ( 1/2 tsp)
1 g citric acid (1/4 tsp)
alternatively vinegar or lemon (2 tsp)
400 ml water
60 g unscented coconut oil
alternatively other neutral oil - I like olive oil since mozzarella is an italian cheese after all
4 g psyllium plus 30 ml water
optional - for making the cheese more stretchy
Preparation:
Mozzarella cheese is very white in colour and neutral in taste.
Vegan mozzarella cheese without tofu
If you have an allergy to soy, replace it with cashews. Just soak the cashews in water overnight or boil them in hot water to soften them.
Stretchy vegan mozzarella cheese
Psyllium makes vegan cheese more stretchy when melted.
Watching this made me SO hungry
Hello Andras! Happy you like it! 😊💖
What is the yeast needed for? Only the taste? Can you replace it?

Yo, I actually have all these ingredients on hand, making this right effing now. I have lactose intolerance, and unless eggs are cooked a specific way they make me super sick. This kind of dish might be just the kind of thing I've been looking for to replace all the omelette dishes I used to love so much.

Can I use rice flour instead of chickpea flour
Yes, surely you can use rice flour instead of chickpea if you prefer. Thank you for your comment and watching! Have a nice day and happy cooking! ☺️
Thank you so much for your detailed review, I am delighted you enjoyed this recipe❤️🥰👋
In order to asure the inside is well cooked, you should have turned the tofu mix over first then fill it up with the cheese!
