Nothing like doing ecstasy and slowly drifting out of consciousness while listening to a new Ezra Klein podcast

nothing like pounding shots of whiskey and snorting lines of cocane whilst grooving out to an ezra klein episode

DINO ... Democratic In Name Only. That is the direction America seems to be taking. Impossible to understand why. The trajectory is backwards.

I was listening to this with a sceptical ear. But your comment seems to prove me wrong. Your language, the way you've expressed yourself in your comment, comes straight from twitter and cable news.

The media doesn't coordinate that is laughable

Right wing media coordinates, quite a lot! That's partly why MAGA has so much better a propaganda machine than the Democrats have

25:00 in Wisconsin v Yoder, Amish children were allowed to opt out of the cultural conditioning of English High Schools. They were allowed to maintain a more communal and traditional attitude toward progress. That horseless carriages, Mains electricity for plugging in TVs, and biology classes which sowed doubts about the value of the book of Genesis were not necessary to participate in the late twentieth century. And people who read old books, even secular books, written before they were born are in a much better position to opt out of hegemonic ideas of inevitable "progress."

Excellent discussion and sadly, much of the bad stuff brought up happened.

Should probably have Sean back for a brief postscript on the Twitter experience now, the X-perience, compared to what it was when you had this conversation.

I always have to speak first, because most of the time I can't stomach listening to this. But I do care about you and the work you do.
Part of my problem is I believe so much in you and in academic works and I couldn't be more disappointed. As a nurse, working in this pandemic, I am so proud of my colleagues but the leadership of corporate goons, I will hang from the gallows.
Let's be honest, Ezra, people with dark triad traits have infiltrated every aspect of society and these are chameleon in nature. You're stuck here with them. I was in NYC for the pandemic, I helped you guys.
It was beyond understanding the level of panic and lack of heroism.
The what about me factor, and I come from a group of academic and artistic heroes in the Midwest. (My grandparents were educated farmers and spent their life giving charity, hence my name Dana)
At some point, I just thought, none of you are worth it. And that's soul crushing.
I am so happy to see the Sigma revolt happening in the tech world, it gives me hope that at least working class people can experience real freedom which isn't buying into your reality. Or these inventions. We don't need them.
I don't need your healthcare system. Your degrees. Your certifications, your endowment to me of realness.
I'm real without you. And I will survive, without you.
I should write you a song about it.

I appreciate your passion, but it's kinda hard to know what to make of this comment since you never put any specific details or assertions in it. It felt vague, so I'm not sure what the intended takeaway is

True! Same to what happen to Syria and Afghanistan. Many wanted that kind of Sharia Law and they got it. US should not sending money. Bring it home and fix issue back home.

Reducing money spent abroad does not increase the money spent locally. Those are two entirely separate budget line entries. The way our government is set up, you cannot just take money away from one thing and spend it elsewhere.
You want more money spent locally? Get Congress to write a budget that allocates more money for local causes. That's the only way it can happen.
From a practical standpoint, you'll probably need to elect more Democrats to Congress, if you want them to do more investing at home. Republicans aren't keen on doing that.
