With more and more drones available at an affordable price which do you think is best a new Mini 2 at $450 for just the drone or the original Mavic Pro around $400-550 used on eBay?
I have the original Mavic Pro. I bought Mini 2 over the Air 2s because I want a less intrusive drone when flying. Less noise, less restrictions (esp. for travel in other countries). The best vacation drone.
This has been my dilemma. I'm going to Hawaii in a few weeks and I also have the original Mavic Pro. Just the size of the Mini 2 alone feels like I won't be carrying much and won't have to carry a battery brick to charge batteries. I can just use my phone charger to charge the batteries. I think I'm going get the Mini 2 for sure now.
1.15 when you were getting poor range with the mini 1 you were supposed to go to transmission settings and manually select a channel with less interference which would be shown by green bars. The channel can only be changed while it’s on the ground. ocusync on the pro and mini 2 will automatically change to the channel with the least interference and it can change while in flight.
i have both and your footage pretty much mirrors my results as well. Its funny because depending on the scenario I could bounce back and forth on which I would prefer as there is clearly a difference in brightness and depth.
While Mini 2 got the latest connection tech which is the OcuSync 2.0, it still lacks a lot as compared to the Mavic PRO, hence it's marked by DJI as PRO. For example, Mavic Pro is a lot heavier than the Mini 2, hence it can survive stronger wind, Mavic Pro has Active Track, and another thing, Mini 2 doesn't have Obstacle Avoidance, which Mavic Pro has. And for the Blownout image of the Mavic Pro, it is meant to be used with "ND Filters". means the sensor of the Mavic Pro is a lot more sensitive than the Mini2. So for the same Price now, I would still go with the Mavic Pro, since it was built like a tank by DJI. While Mini 2 is just an Average practice drone, no obstacle sensor, No Active-Track, cannot fly high (since the wind will blow it away) it could capture great images too though.
I still have the mavic the mavic pro, i would also like to add, you can adjust gimbal, yaw and stick sensitivity on the pro, also a lot more intelligent flight modes like terrain follow, it has point focusing, it films 4k in portrait mode, two people can also fly this drone simultaneously which can also be used to train a beginner, it's stronger better built and can fly in strong winds, the mini two only flies backwards in a strong headwind, it's ok in a light breeze, and as you say the mavic is more sensitive to light, a selection of nd filters does the job, the camera settings on the mini were factory for best video quality straight out of the box, the mavic pro wasn't meant to focus on the background but the foreground, the mini is an entry level drone, i only have only due to ease on restrictions, i flew my mavic pro 3 miles out to sea in a strong head wind to film a ship, i was flying 22mph into this strong wind in normal mode, the mini 2 struggled to reach a mile at 7mph so i had to turn back.
@@leahwalker2563 Greatly agree on that one, DJI Minis are very light that you can't use it in a bit stronger wind, while the DJI Mavic Pro, despite it's age is still a very capable drone in 2022. Here in my country (Philippines) the "249-gram rules" does not apply. In here, "as long as your Drone is LESS THAN 7 Kilograms", you DON'T need to Register it. Only Drone that weighs 7 Kilograms and above, or Commercial Drones needs to be registered with CAAP (Philippine version of FAA). That's the reason why I bought a used "DJI Mavic Pro" instead of the Mini 2, the fact that they are now have the same price, you'll get a lot more with the Mavic Pro.
Thinking of buying my first drone, I'm stuck between these 2, you guys make great points. I think the mavic pro looks cooler, the dji google compatibility is another plus. I watched a vlogger loose 2 mini se drones in quick succession off the coast of Ireland in relatively low wind speeds, so kinda worried the mini 2 really can't handle wind high up. Might wait it out a bit, mavic pros are still going for decent money.
Appreciate the compassion! It’s between Mini2 and A2S coming from Mavic Pro. I don’t do commercial work and I haven’t used ActiveTrack on the Mavic Pro. I should be alright with the Mini2. I’m glad it’s not a lateral move but at least a bit of an upgrade in quality.

6 to 7 years later you would have to get the pro over the mini , because the pro is the OG of dji drones and will be worth more in the future plus it’s a true collectors item , It’s not always about picture quality as the average person will think both pictures are great . I got the pro ,pro 2 and pro3 , and I still get as much enjoyment out of the OG as the pro3 . I did get a mini 2 for my 8 year old son as I consider them more for kids , but still well capable .

They are both good! Really its pointless to compare "better". Each has its strengths and weaknesses. We shot vids for home sales starting with the Mav Pro in 2018. Been using the Mini 2 lately for advertising, and if we didn't tell anyone I doubt they would eve know. Both great drones!

I'm not a professional, just someone who likes to get that nice shot. Last time I went on vacation, my backpack was essentially Mavic Pro gear (drone, batteries, accessories, controller, charger, etc.). I feel like the Mini 2 will only take up a small section in my backpack. I think I'm gonna get the Mini 2, while still keep the Mavic Pro around. Great video.

Try to use the mavic pro platinum props on that Mavic Pro and you'll see the noise and battery improvement. Anyways I've tested both and I concluded that Mavic Pro is more capable plus the build quality is far superior and resistant.
You are correct the build quality is better on the Pro. But the mini is not for those that want the toughest drone, it's for those that want the lightest and most portable
There's also the fact that the new drone has warranty and care assist available . With a second hand drone you don't really know what you're buying into...
If I were buying, I'd definitely invest in something newer. With that being said, I got the Mavic Pro for free (a friend found one out in the wild). Just needed a gimbal repair and a remote, was good to go. Spent $150 in total.
I have been using Mini 2 about few months and got no issue except headbutt of gimbal in case sport mode. It is very nice drone compare to other DJI drones. But, one day i have a dream to get one of Air 2 or 2S. But, weight is an issue, so it is hard to leave Mini 2 as for now..

Just one comment on the topic of control stick sensitivity - you can adjust stick and gimball pan sensitivities in advanced settings. I managed to set my Mavic Pro up so that I can take extremely smooth cimenatic footage even if I apply relatively large control stick inputs

I disagree on Wind Resistance. I just flew both in 20-25 mph winds over labor day weekend and I saw no difference in so called "wind resistance". The Mini 2 actually held a better speed taking on wind head on . The only thing I like better about the mavic pro is the flight characteristic and the tracking features. Mini 2 is so simple and easy to get up in the air fast.
I can do all kinds of pro footage with my Mini 2.... I would say its very simple minus some of the features of the more expensive bigger drones. Video quality is top notch.
The thing is that the mini 2 is able to do active track, but DJI purposely doesn’t include it which is kind of sad, but for the price range what can you expect, it’s still an amazing drone.

I think the mini would be great for everything and is less to carry. The only reason I would go with the pro is if you were going to record yourself while riding the motorcycle. The pro has active track while the mini 2 does not.
I was going to buy a mini 2 but my buddy wants to sell me his new pro for 450. No extra accessories. He said the mini 2 sucks in the wind but not sure how true it is. What's yalls take on it?

Very experienced drone pilot with Yuneec & elite drones I know you said mini2 I do like the size of the Pro but I charge at home and fly at the same RC Field all the time, with that said would you still favor the mini 2? Great vid thanks
I have to comment again. This guys conclusion is his opinion I get it. But in my opinion, these two drones are completely different animals. The mini 2 doesn’t have any of the autonomous features that Pro has. The mini does not have any tracking capability. The mini also lacks the needed sensors that the pro has . This guy just needs to be a little less bias next time .

Also better than mavic 2 pro, more detail and sharper - mini 2 and 2 pro have unpleasant blue bias, unlike pro 1 which just needs exposure controlled correctly - pro 1 also has wider field of view
I do lots of dirt bike/sled/moutain bike/windsurf/ jetski stuff and need active pro would mavic pro be the one for that found one used that was used once with new battery for $450.
i have had both. the mini 2 is just better overall. so easy to set up and take off, so much quieter and the video quality is just night and day better than the mavic pro. no remote id necessary either. I had the mavic platinum pro, and it still a good drone, but I prefer firing up the mini 2 simplicity sake.

I bought the Dji mini 2, I was stuck on the pro until finally i decided the price difference and the 249g . question : doesn't the battery in the mini 2 push it over 250gr making it a register?

It is stupid that you can not use DJI googles with the mini drones ... I really like DJI googles first model with the mavic pro more than my DJI FPV actualy .... but i can not use them on new drones not even the googles from the dji fpv drone... that is stupid.
i own both. No, dont sell it for a PRO. Unless you are needing wind resistance or payload there is no reason. PRO is still great though.... I dont care what these people say about it being older, just look at some of the footage on youtube this drone has done.
The Mini 2 will run you $450 new for just the drone. The Mavic Pro will be somewhere around $400-550 on eBay depending on how many batteries and accessories included. Hope this helps!
There are many years between those drones,As the same way you cant compare the iPhone 5 camera with the cheapest actual Samsung smartphone camera. Diferent tecnologies, newer CPU, better sensors
Not true the mini 2 handles wind in a pretty decent way have you tried the mini? Because I am flying mine since the day it was released and it is a lot better than my old mavic pro I think mavic pro is not as good as mini 2 for color grading even tho both are not a good stuff considering Danamic range but it is decent for the price

Hello how are you? excellent video, I wanted to ask you about buying a drone. What suits me a mavic pro or a mini2?
My idea is to record landscapes and take photos since I like to go out for a motorcycle ride. Thank you in advance, greetings.
I think the mini would be great for everything and is less to carry. The only reason I would go with the pro is if you were going to record yourself while riding the motorcycle. The pro has active track while the mini 2 does not.
Basically this video Is just letting us all know how great the mini two is. You really didn’t touch on the pro a lot

I was going to buy a mini 2 but my buddy wants to sell me his new pro for 450. No extra accessories. He said the mini 2 sucks in the wind but not sure how true it is. What's yalls take on it?
@@972CHENZO I flew my mini inside, then i found out he had the mavic pro, The pro handles the wind well. I fly mine at the beach and it handles it well.

Very experienced drone pilot with Yuneec & elite drones I know you said mini2 I do like the size of the Pro but I charge at home and fly at the same RC Field all the time, with that said would you still favor the mini 2? Great vid thanks

I have to comment again. This guys conclusion is his opinion I get it. But in my opinion, these two drones are completely different animals. The mini 2 doesn’t have any of the autonomous features that Pro has. The mini does not have any tracking capability. The mini also lacks the needed sensors that the pro has .
This guy just needs to be a little less bias next time .

Also better than mavic 2 pro, more detail and sharper - mini 2 and 2 pro have unpleasant blue bias, unlike pro 1 which just needs exposure controlled correctly - pro 1 also has wider field of view
I do lots of dirt bike/sled/moutain bike/windsurf/ jetski stuff and need active pro would mavic pro be the one for that found one used that was used once with new battery for $450.

i have had both. the mini 2 is just better overall. so easy to set up and take off, so much quieter and the video quality is just night and day better than the mavic pro. no remote id necessary either. I had the mavic platinum pro, and it still a good drone, but I prefer firing up the mini 2 simplicity sake.
@@crankfotton I wondered if I should buy pro or some mini which are quite cheaper these days;P I made a mistake I think now but at least mavic pro is though. I crashed 5 times now and only had to replace few rotors ♥️♥️♥️
@@enrikekasijas705 oh yeah! i crashed my mavic pro several times , still flew. as long as the gimbal isnt damaged that thing can take a beating. its still a good drone, and I actually like the flight characteristics better than the mini series. its just smoother. but the controller sucks.
You really need to learn how to balance your sound. It's horrible when the music starts it's like the double volume of the rest of the video

It's like he believes and think the mini 2 is better, lets talk about obstacle avoidance, the better active track, put nd or polarized on it than it will look like a beast and the photos and videos is 100 persent better, Lets talk about the mini 2 's huge controller It's so wacky, mate you should do another one where you change the exposure, I would highly recommend buying the pro, can handle wind, doesn't actually loose signal at 500m away the controller is perfect and the chances of crashing mini 2 is higher

I bought the Dji mini 2, I was stuck on the pro until finally i decided the price difference and the 249g . question : doesn't the battery in the mini 2 push it over 250gr making it a register?
Good question. No the battery is included in the 249 grams
its actually 242 grams with the battery. idk why they write 249

It is stupid that you can not use DJI googles with the mini drones ... I really like DJI googles first model with the mavic pro more than my DJI FPV actualy .... but i can not use them on new drones not even the googles from the dji fpv drone... that is stupid.

i own both. No, dont sell it for a PRO. Unless you are needing wind resistance or payload there is no reason. PRO is still great though.... I dont care what these people say about it being older, just look at some of the footage on youtube this drone has done.

The Mini 2 will run you $450 new for just the drone. The Mavic Pro will be somewhere around $400-550 on eBay depending on how many batteries and accessories included. Hope this helps!

There are many years between those drones,As the same way you cant compare the iPhone 5 camera with the cheapest actual Samsung smartphone camera. Diferent tecnologies, newer CPU, better sensors

Mavic pro is a lot more professional but if you want a cheap toy then mini 2 is decent. Just dont fly it in wind bcs it gets pushed so far.
Not true the mini 2 handles wind in a pretty decent way have you tried the mini? Because I am flying mine since the day it was released and it is a lot better than my old mavic pro I think mavic pro is not as good as mini 2 for color grading even tho both are not a good stuff considering Danamic range but it is decent for the price
