  • All you need to know about the commanding leadership style. This style, also known as directive leadership or coercive leadership, is one of the six leadership styles by Daniel Goleman. These six leadership styles are based on emotional intelligence and resonant leadership. (Refer to our full video on those styles.)
    Commanding leadership is the traditional "boss" like style of command and control. You order people what to do, and they execute the orders. This style should be avoided as much as possible since it is very bad for creativity, engagement and retention. People simply do not like commanding leaders.
    However, when time is scarce and quick decisions are required, the commanding leadership style has a place.
