      Forgot to mention, would you do a review on the Condor Bushlore? Ive heard a lot about them and would like to see what you guys think. Its not a bad knife.

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      they are budget knives made out of 1075 hardened to 50-55 HRC. I haven't tried one for good reason. 1075 @ 55 hrc is ok for a machete but for a knife and maybe even softer at 50 hrc is definitely a no go. they look pretty sweet but A mora will be a thousand times better in terms of steel performance. I don't know if all their knives are 1075 though. Haven;t done much research on them. They do have a nice parang.

    I don't cut trees wide enough to need a 19 inch saw blade. My big saw is Silky though. I have Silky BigBoy 360 Pro. It's 14 inch blade. I also have Silky F180 for my smaller saw to do smaller jobs or for hiking trails. It has 7 inch blade. They both cut really good. Alot better than the cheap ones I had before (both small).

    Hey guys, maybe worth mentioning that, unlike the smaller Silky's, you can sharpen the Katanaboys (this is the 500, there is a 650 as well) with the optional Silky-file. I've professionally used both Katanaboys extensively in the field instead of a chainsaw and they are just unbeatable! And you get a free workout with it! Keep those vids coming, boys!

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mike, for usability I would definitely go with the Cryo. In terms of steel both are the same but the Cryo looks like it would be more versatile and comfortable to use.

      Dutch Bushcraft Knives thank you guys, I'm going to order it today. i finally gonna put my opinel no.8 to rest a little. can't live with my no.8.
      good work and very entertaining 👍

  • @Shooter11B
    @Shooter11B 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be WAY faster if you used two hands with a little downwards pressure on the front steel part as you pull and tilt the saw up and down too. I know, I used mine a few days ago going through green pine of about 10" diameter. Not the funnest thing to do because of the way I had the wood resting, but darn effective!

    Hey guys, it doesn't have anything to do with this video but, which grit do you use when you wanna change the bevel grind to convex on your 3v knives? 300-400? I want to buy 3 new stones, and I need 3 good stones to do almost everything, from regrind to polish. Good video btw... as always!

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Salival, We mostly start off with 400 grit. If I was to recommend a 3-set I would suggest Naniwa Chosera or Naniwa Professional 400, 1000 and 3000 and do a bit of stropping afterwards. thanks a lot! cheers!

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's a pretty tough price range. I would say a Mora bushcraft force. It's a good step up from the companion in sturdiness and handle geometry. I love mine a lot!

    • @ZestyBoyz

    u 2 should do a review of Ontario Rat 2 (folder) its only 20$ and everyone is saying that its awsome, but i really want to hear your openion and at the end of your videos it would be awsome, if you would rate item from 1 to 10 stars and tell your openion, who the item is good for and what else would you suggest ass cheaper alternative or more expensive one

    • @DutchBushcraftKnives
      @DutchBushcraftKnives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, We have been thinking about doing some kind of rating system so we might do it in the future. The Ontario Rat 2 folder looks like a decent simple folder. However $20,- is not a per se cheap if you consider the fact that you get a folder in AUS-8 Steel. Aus-8 is a cheap budget steel. An opinel for $12 dollars would be better in my opinion and it looks better IMO.
      But in the end I'm not a folder user so my opinion isn't worth much. In terms of steel I'd rather go with 12c27 at that price-class.
      Cheers!

      Dutch Bushcraft Knives You have to select all the video clips in your timeline, the right-click one of them and choose "Switches" > "Disable Resampling." That will keep the footage from getting ghosty and weird.

  • @TheKimjoh560

    You should compare it to a brand new bacho or similiar bow saw instead. They range from €10-20. You'd be surprised how easily they pack with the right bag and how light they are. You might also be surprised at how fast they cut from using folders for so long.
    Its only a little more bulk but a ton of reliability and performance for your money. The strenght of a folder this big is that there is no theoretical limit to the dimensons of the wood you are cutting. But if you have enough wood to cut to justify this kind of investment you might want to concider other options and its kind of hard to beat a bow saw in that regard.
