  • My chainsaw kept dying and all I had was a hand saw I bought at Home Depot to build my log shed. It was taking me at least 30 minutes to 1 hour cutting through 10-14" Pine Logs.
I'm going to be doing a lot of sawing by hand so I decided to go with the Katana Boy 650 after watching reviews. Amazon was selling it for $300 and The Canadian Prepper was selling it for $200 plus the SURVIVALPREPPER 20% Discount code gave me free shipping and it was shipped out the next day!
Thanks Canadian Prepper for not price gouging like Amazon! Plus, I'd rather support your channel for all the help you provide us Preppers!
    Just Keep On Prepping!
If you see something you want in my videos, I am keeping a list of items I find, use and recommend on Amazon here and it helps support my channel. Check it out here first. www.amazon.com/shop/plant-bas...
If you find something using useful on my channel, please bookmark and use this Amazon link to shop. It doesn't cost either of us anything, but helps me out with a small kickback. Thanks!

I have the same saw, Silky Katanaboy 650. Of course, the environmental conditions in which it is used are very different. Palm trees are clearly visible in your video, indicating a hot climate. In my case, this is the forest zone of the Northern Hemisphere, the European part of Russia. Dry hardwood logs are hard to find here. Since birch and oak, especially birch, are highly susceptible to rotting. Coniferous logs are much less hard, even when dry. Therefore, using such a saw allows me to very quickly prepare firewood for a fire, spending little time and effort. It seems to me that the long time spent cutting very dry hardwood in your case is due to slipping of the saw teeth. They do not bite into the material, but only scratch it. Therefore, wood dust is formed, and not large shavings when sawing. The position of the saw may need to be adjusted slightly with each movement to ensure better contact with the material. The speed of movement is also important; it should not be too high. In any case, this saw is the only opportunity to have a lightweight tool that you can transport yourself to cut logs up to 40 cm in diameter in the wild.

It's my favorite tool now! It goes with me everywhere in my truck. I had to stop logging because.of fires this year but I'm hoping to get back up there this month and resume my Log Cabin She'd Project. Enjoy!

To funny! That's where I got mine. At the time, it was the best price on line.

This saw comes with extra large teeth (pull saw type) which is great to cut wet wood soft or hard. But for dry wood you need something else, like a crosscut saw with a Great American tooth or a bow saw with a dry wood blade.

I have the Big Boy and it’s a beast; bought it for backpacking and camping. People tell me it’s overkill and I should use a GomBoy. I’ve never considered that; it really doesn’t weigh or take up too much space, and there’s no such thing as overkill. In the places I usually go you’re allowed to harvest fallen or dead standing timber; power tools are not permitted. I’ve had DCNR officers stop by while I was processing wood before thinking I had a chainsaw. They were amazed to see how well the BigBoy preforms. The one guy even wanted to try it out; he had a little trouble at first but after I showed him the proper technique he was wizzing through it. The KatanaBoy is definitely on my wishlist.

I have this saw and I've found that the sweet spot for this saw is about a 6 inch log. Anything bigger than that and it will take some time like you found out. :)

Any flea market crosscut saw, properly filed, should get through that piece of hardwood in less than a minute. Silky's don't like straight pulls on dry wood like that. You have to force edge cuts and work around the sides of the log then back to the middle.

Love everything about this saw except the green handle. I wish it was black.

Need the big boy for that one... I found you can get through a log alot quicker if you see-saw the cuts till you get a v in there then you have alot of pressure on wood that has less structure also the curved blades dig in alot better. I've gone through sugar maple that size in under 40 seconds. You gotta imagine rocking a chainsaw but slower. those big hand saws are alot less wieldy and hard to put the perfect amount of weight on it so it can bite without getting bunged up

Absolutely right, creating triangles with the saw and then attacking the top of the triangle is the best way.

Did you ever find out what kind of wood that was?

No, my best guess is that it's some type of Oak tree but it's gone now. This is the only video and image of it. If anyone watching this video knows...let us all know.

Для сухого твёрдого дерева,у этой пилы слишком крупный зуб,так она реально пилит,это вам не трухлявую берёзу пилить.

Google translate, For dry hard wood, this saw has too large a tooth, so it really cuts, you’re not cutting a rotten birch tree.

good move on the safety items. i i laugh at youtube vids some "hot babe" welding in a tank top and shorts on a car or something. i would make keepsake out of that wood it as a memorandum of the hardest wood ever. i am looking to get the 1000m for" y the H not" factor.

Ha ha, your right! I see a lot of videos with hot girls doing anything nowadays to get hits. It's the alternate reality some people live in. Better to be safe and survive but looking good doing it does have some entertainment value. lol
