My first race bike was a 1969 Bultaco Pursang 250. With it I got 175 cylinder and pistons and a 125 cylinder and pistons. Bottom end worked for all three cylinders. Right hand shift also.
my first bike was an Indian 50 1971. i still have the bike, my first helmet , the sales receipt, the "leathers" that my Mom made for me (which the knee pads and hip pads are pot holders) and the owners manual. BTW my dad bought this brand new for me when i was 3 years old.
such a cool bike! my papa John before he passed collaborated (co-owned??) a museum of Indian Motorcycles, he personally owned 15-20 of them at the same time, and they all ran. I'm sure he would have loved a cool mini bike like that, too.
Hey Guys! Great first show as an introduction for me! First bike for me was a two year old 1993 YZ 250 (Noleen Built Motor) that was quit a bit faster than needed, LOL
My first bike was a 2003 XR70. Brand new at the time. I remember when my dad told me to look in the garage, as he had a surprise for me. One of my fondest memories.
Started on 3.5hp mini bike, then stole Dad's 73 Hodaka Ace 100 (lots of chrome). At 14, 1994 bought a 88 kx80 with birthday and Xmas money. Senior yr 98 brand new cr250 AF. Started racing. Skipped many others just pointing out miles stones of early years
Sammy Millers 1961 Scottish 6 day Triumph T20T Tiger cub. Bought it off my dad when I was a kid. My dad was British Army trials champion and runner up a couple of times back in the late 60's early 70's. I never was much of a trials rider, more into bmx and mx..Dave Thorpe was (is) my hero. I used to jump that old tiger.😁👍🇬🇧
Hey Matt and Chris, my first time watching your channel. My first Dirt bike was a Suzuki RM 100 it was a great bike and my brother had a Yamaha YZ 80 which you know was a rocket. Thanks for all your cool information you put out there!
1974 XR 75. The silver tank year. I was six years old. (1976). Re: Tedesco. He is probably one of the better test riders out there because he understands what is going on with the bike during each section of the racetrack.
Almost bought a Suzuki RM250, the guy selling it told me that if it was my first dirt bike I should get a 125 or a 250f. I admired his honesty and end up getting a 2006 RM125.
I can not wait to get more manufacturers into sx and mx! My first bike was a 1972 125 Yamaha Enduro in Yamaha blue! The blue they use today! And now at 62 I ride a yz125x 2022!!
My first motocross bike with a 1965 Aeramacchi 250 4 stroke .. It was set up for short track racing, but I raced it at Carlsbad raceway in 1971 ...this is before they had a starting gate. Stew Peters almost didn't let me race because it had a 19 inch front tire and a battery. but after that day I was hooked
First and only bike was a kx 125, untill it broke and had to choose where to put my money. Went for music, but will always be a great fan of the sport! Grts from Belgium!
The first motorcycle that was actually mine was a 1980 Honda XL500s, bought it in high school without my father's knowledge. Never had a license or permit of any kind. Had a ton of fun on it for a couple months before dad found it under the tarp out back... made me sell it immediately. LOL
Saw Ivan Tedesco in Temecula the other day at the gas station and pretty sure he had the Triumph in his truck. It looked stealthy and thought it was an E-bike at first until I saw the header pipe. Didn't get a chance to talk to him or check out the bike unfortunately.
I got to meet some of the greats over the years. Marty Smith, Jimmy Ellis, Steve Stackable, Jim Weinert, Tony D and Tommy Croft all signed my ankle cast at Hangtown in 1976. Tim Hart wouldn't sign it because he was superstitious! I met Bob Hannah at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in 1977 at a local race he was just checking out. I met Danny Chandler, Pat Richter, Rex Staten and Kenny Zhart between 1976 and 1981 at Mammoth. I've met Bobby Bonds and Stilez Robertson (I'm live in Bakersfield). Shot the shit with Blake Wharton, Broc Tickle and J-Bone at Pala in 2009. In 2015, my daughter accused me of fan girling with Trey Canard at A2. I had a nice discussion with Weston Peick at the same race. After their retirements, I've met, and conversed with, Broc Glover, Danny LaPorte, Don Emler (FMF), JMB, Chuck Sun, and Donnie Hansen. I have a Bakersfield Harley Davidson shirt I wore to many races and it has over 100 signatures on it. Lots of them from guys who drove to the race in their Dad's pickup, which is how I met Dustin Pipes! Bigger names on the shirt: RC, MC, Windham, Reed, Brian Deegan, and Tomac (when he was a 250 guy). If you're interested, send me your email and I'll send pix of it. Mine is Motopoet59@gmail.com
My first bike was a puch 50 converted to 10 inch rims to race the 50 class.remember scrambling at 5 years old to find a wrench to take the speedo off the forks.
Lightly used 75 YZ80B Mom loaned me half of the $350 and Dad wanted to return it to the garage sale when he got home from work. Fast forward 7 years and Mom is working the concession stand and Dad is working scoring at our local club track👍👍
The first Bike that I actually owned (beyond the Sears Minibike with the lawn mower engine:) was a brand new 1990 KX 125. I was 15 and LOVED that bike!
Hey guys I totally agree with the two strokes being the greatest sound. I have a 2000 Yz , still use to this day. I’m in my mid 50’s still love the sport as much as ever.
I can see the triumph bike having a lot of PC parts on it because of Tadesco's connection with PC. He's been the pro circuit test rider for I think the last 5 years or so. And I don't mean PC Kawi, but PC itself.
Pictures I've seen leaked clearly show Ohlins suspension on the British Racing Green Triumph World SX 250. This makes me smile as So Many manufacturers have passed over Ohlins for decades due to cost and shipping issues and lobbying by Showa, WP (White Power! ...yes, that is actually what WP stands for😮]), and KYB parts for production ~ but when cost is NO Object, Ohlins is still the very best suspension available! My dream bike would be Ohlins suspended and X-Trig ROCS triple clamped 2026 Triumph 450 World SX bike made 48 state street legal 😁‼️Can you say *HEAD TURNER* 😳...😌
97 Honda CR125. Bought it in 98 to train for snowmobile racing. I wasn’t very good, but it definitely helped with fitness. Would love to see a Ducati team. My guess would be around $15k as well.
I should have put in there to that also had my purse over the bars trip on that bike too because I was jumping it in the forks fell apart didn't cry until I seen my bike was into pieces fix it and it happened again six months LOL
My very first dirtbike was a 1992 RM 125 that was slightly modified at a bar from aa rated racer outside of Chicago that was hospitalized in a coma from hitting his best friend head-on with the dirtbike and a stone quarry. His dad sold it to me for $1500 then two years later called me asking if I want to be buy a 2000 KX 125 because his son was in the hospital again for a similar injury. No I did not buy the KX.😅
What can Triumph and Ducati possibly bring different to the table ? KYB,Showa and WP are the suspension manufacturers on (most all production bikes), I just don't see what is going to separate them from the current manufacturers.
I grew up really poor and had to borrow friends bikes, like Honda 50, XR70, XR75, etc. When I was able to buy my own bike, with my own money and not having to listen to my parents, the first bike I bought was a Honda CR250 2-strokes. I probably owned six of those bikes, during the time my brother and I raced. I eventually moved to Honda CRF450 R's. OK, this will give me away a little, but Roger De Coster visited our school motorcycle shop. I am personally very excited for more manufactures getting into dirt bike racing. At the very least, I would like to see Suzuki putting some new R&D into their RM line. If electric bikes come into the main stream, Stark Varg has been hyping their bike. If Ducati wants to get into dirt bike racing, they have to produce something that many potential racers and weekend warriors would be willing to buy. It can't be a 20K dirt bike. It has to be closer to the price of the Austrian bikes.
Yamaha MX 100 (1974). My brother and I put our paper route money together to buy it in 1975. I know that Beta has a MXGP/MX2 team presently and theiir appearance was intended here in the states soon, but when??? Ducati is the surprise rumor for me however.
Wow, first bike was a 1980 Honda XR80 I got new when I was 10 or 11. Should have got the CR because I rode that XR to its limits most of the time, beyond the suspension’s limits. I was kind of let down seeing the new triumph. Was hoping it would be new level with a aluminum frame instead of following KTM with the rusty steel.
These prices are getting out of control. It will be cool to see Ducati and triumph have dirt bikes tho. What color triumph gonna be you think? I'm assuming black. Great stuff guys!
I was 12 years old in 1984 and my brother found an old TS185 Suzuki in a trash pit. The motor was locked up. So he soaked it for a month in ATF and got it running. I rode and fixed that thing for 8 or 9 years. It wasn't fast and hated jumping. But man I put the miles on that thing.
First dirt bike was a 1974 Yamaha GT 80. Had tons of fun on that bike until “just have to mention” my first new motorcycle bought from Chaparral Yamaha was a 1981 Yamaha YZ100. What an amazing bike at the time.
I was 11 years old and now I was in love with motocross. I think when I was 11 I got an XR 80 and then after a while I got a YZ 80 and then so on and so on.
78 Yamaha GT 80, I went over to racing three wheelers after that, 250R & 200X Honda's, got back into dirt bikes about 10-15 years ago with a 2012 KXF 450 but sold it because there are absolutely zero places to ride here on Long Island NY.....
My first bike was my grandfather 1986 xr200r I raced it my first year riding a dirt bike coming off a atv since I was 4 started riding bikes at 15 never stopped after that
It’s great to see more competition with bike companies, but there can only be some many brands. These new bikes could push out some of the current brands eventually. Will be interesting to see
First bike was 65 hodaka 90 from my dad. I bought a new 69 super rat when 15 for 495.00, then a 73 combat wombat. I loved racing those bikes. I currently have a 74 super combat (fully restored) in my garage. Out of the 30 some bikes I've owned, the hodakas are the closest to my heart
Who rocked the Yamaha GT80? Forks made as much noise topping out as bottoming out. Broke the frame so many times we had to scavenge a replacement frame. Made me the most average rider at the gate.
Curious to see that if ducati succeeds, if more of these euro manufacturers will test the waters in the US for sx and mx. Aka TM and aprilia to be specific. If ducati succeeds, maybe they feel motivated to start teams in the US? Would be awesome!
Fantic is another great Euro bike - it very closely resembles Yamaha suspension but the power is incredible! They OWN FIM Enduro in almost all age and skill classes. I have only ridden 2 here in the USA and they were specially shipped by container for an eccentric dealer🙄
@@timmwhite9218 I’ll have to look them up I’m not familiar with them, but if their suspension is similar to a yamaha then I could imagine it’s a pretty solid bike!
My first bikes were a 1986 Kawasaki KD 80 and a 1981 Yamaha YZ 80. My Dad got my brother and I both at the same time. The KD was the mellow learner bike and the YZ was the way faster, scary bike. Loved them both and our first races were both on the YZ.
My first bike was a yz125 back in 70s. I raced it for a couple of years. Now, I have a Husqvarna TX300i and FC350. I’m not going to race, but the bikes are great!
My first bike in 1973 was a Suzuki tm100 I was 13. Soon thereafter I was racing at speedway 117 or aka south bay speedway in San Diego. Then 4 corners aka Barona in San Diego also.
Oh man I will never forget my first motorcycle!! It was 1975 Christmas morning my dad asked my brother and I to clean the garage and brother and I were so sad we had to work on Christmas Day 😂 we opened the garage and BAAAM brand new Kawasaki kd 100 and brother got a kd 80 not for racing my parents did not know about bikes the dealership took the lights off of the 100 but the reason we got bikes was because in our days of school brother and I were not allowed to participate in school sports because of our hearing , we were born with hearing problems so mom and dad got us bikes so schools can not tell us we can’t do this sport we later got racing bikes and became pro racers in the 1980 s what a memory!!
My first race bike was a 1969 Bultaco Pursang 250. With it I got 175 cylinder and pistons and a 125 cylinder and pistons. Bottom end worked for all three cylinders. Right hand shift also.
1977 rm 100 . My dream bike at the time.

It was an early 70s Yamaha DT 100 2 stroke. I ported it put a pipe on it. I was born in 61 BTW.
You can’t even tell what the bike really looks like. Because it looks like all the other bikes. Specially, without the decals on there.
First bike 84 rm80 , loved it.
I started riding on a 04 ktm 50 when I 4 and just recently picked up a 23 ktm 250
My first bike was a Honda 50. When I got Married I wanted to do Motocross. I bought a Honda MT 250 Elsinore/ later a Yamaha YZ 250.
Im not vary convinced this will workout for triumph....Build a 600 duelsport with 60 to 70hp and weight no more than 325lbs

92 KX 80 which was actually oversized it come in about 84cc I loved that bike
2001 kx250 bought as a tech school project and then started racing
My first bike was a 1976 cr 125
