As former Hindu, living in a Hindu family, and a literature lover. I believe fiction should not be affected/hindered by religious beliefs. A fictional universe is a different universe and should not be treated as a perfect/good representation. Though writers should respect the source material. And I fully love Krishna's design and characterization though I would have loved more if he was more of a loving figure like in the hindu myths. Though most issues I have with Smtiv A are story issues.
Would definitely agree there. I overall liked SMTIVA quite a lot but that had more to do with the gameplay than the story elements. Krishna being evil can be rationalized within the lore of SMTIV, but I do agree that Atlus’ weak point is showing any religion in general in a positive light. It’s why Law endings suck for the most part
Definite truth there. I feel a good example of the fiction bit is God in SMT, (disclaimer I am not knowledgable in religion take this info with a grain of salt) obviously portrayed as Old Testament God being wrathful and such, whereas New Testament God basically chilled out
His "love" much like with YHVH is warped in the games. He really believes that he is doing the compassionate thing. This game takes the belief that humans know what's best for themselves.
sories real or not affect whatr you think how you feel to say otherwise is that of a fool it will make people think God of bible is evil or etc and yes hell is real God is real what you say think do matters Jesus is the way truth and the life
Ngl you can't just say that writers can sum up sth without it being affected by source material then proceed to say to respect source material. Especially within fiction. Also smt is just a game of how each of our dharmic nature results in the end goal we end up getting. It isn't wrong to say that some humans may question krishna because they have the same right to do so as those who favor krishna's words. This isn't disrespect either as humans should have a level of concern from their own free will towards an entity that proposes change of the current order to be under theirs. Thus the endings are always going to be bitter sweet as they should be from an objective view as to say that no ending is ideally perfect. I have a lot more to say but I will stop here.
Did find it strange how they didn’t at least give us the option to side with them within the story. Wouldn’t make the most sense as a solution for humanity but it would at least be more entertaining than the peace ending
I am an athiest born in a Hindu Household but have been studying religious texts of my own volition for years now, and the one thing that absolutely ticked me off about Rajan was his blatant misinformation about Krishna's skin, which just shows how ignorant he is in general. Krishna is and always has been brown, the only reason he has been depicted as blue is due to artistic choice that wished to give him a divine aura. Any Hindu in India knows this.
I would say it is also due to colourism in some sense. Draupadi is also depicted as blue or fair skinned, despite being a regular human with her beauty and dark skin being her defining physical characteristics. Her birth name is also nearly identical to Krishna, only with a different syllable at the end. The word also means dark skinned in Sanskrit, further highlighting the mistake he made.

Vishnu-Flynn was such a cool design, one of my favorites to come out of SMTIVa. It makes me wander if that version of flynn was krishna's way of making a nahobino.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the inspiration for Nahobino as a concept. Other people fused with gods in SMTIV but not to the point where they retained some human elements
@@armanimillerMakes sense. Only a Nahobino can ascended the Throne and create a new world. Meaning the Demi-Fiend was Lucifer's attempt at creating a Artificial Nahobino.
That is pretty interesting considering SMT Nocturne and 5 are tied together. I mean look at the transportation device you first use in V. Remind you of a certain transportation device in Nocturne.
Its stupid to call Krishna controversial because here in India we cant and couldn't even buy a nintendo 3ds officially which ment we couldnt even but smt hell we cant even officially buy a nintendo switch now like most indian people who are a little older don't even know what the hell nintendo is and yes I know that you said that Rajan doesn't speak for Hindus and obviously he doesn't but he's a Hindu preacher in america not even India
Krishna was definitely one of the best SMT villains. The type that is charismatic enough you might wanna join his side. I heard some people hated SMTIV Apocalypse but personally i loved it, and the characters played a big part on that. Krishna, Dadga, and the rest of the deities were all interesting to me, and i am glad they picked hindu/irish deities to explore in this game, was a welcome change from the usual heaven angels vs hell demons.
Dagdas route was the peak in apocalypse for me. Although IVA was disappointing in other aspects. I think Krishna served his purpose as the primary antagonist in the game well enough.
Dagda's is awesome. The whole frienship thing doesn't work in SMT like it does in Persona. Krishna IS the main upfront antagonist. Walter and Jonathan are a joke in Apocalypse, like some trible leaders. Though, I would have wished Krishna was less cartoonishly evil
No, they have an idea of what megami tensei is but they confused it for pokemon, lol. The whole "pokemon teaches you to summon demons" was started because some overly Christian folks saw an old smt game and thought it was pokemon because of the similar gameplay loop. Lol
The only issue is that Last Bible and Jack Bros. were the only SMT related things to get released outside of Japan, and neither of which are anything like other SMT games.
Thank you for this! I really loved SMT 4A's story, especially Krishna and the Divine Powers. It's been a long time since I finished it and your video reminded me of how much I loved it and how I consider it the best mainline smt game.
Great video! Although I can understand why Krishna wasn't an option we can side with, I honestly still think it would have been neat! Although i almost always am a chaos bro in my runs, so that probably doesn't help. I do think the big issue with the argument, however, is that Tokyo is only the way that it is because of YHVH's oppressive rule. Masakado literally turned himself into the dome for the sake of protecting Tokyo, and he is physically unable to move. I think SMTV's CoC Chaos route was this idea more fully realized, so it isn't necessary anymore, but my god, would I have loved to side with the Divine Powers when I played through Apocalypse
I'm a full blown orthodox christian and I adore SMT for everything that it is. Whoever has their panties in a twist over these games needs a reality check.
If Hinduism was well understood globally without centuries of Orientalisms {continuing in academia} there would have been fewer of these issues. For E.g. in many academic fields current term employed to depict Hinduism is Brahmanism. Some books - Heathen, Hindoo, Hindu: American Representations of India, 1721-1893 Catholic Orientalism Portuguese Empire, Indian Knowledge (16th-18th Centuries)
I've been saying for a while that Krishna is a great villain in a series not particularly known for it's villains, but I feel like he never got talked about much. So glad I found this video and channel!
Dagda and the Divine Powers (and to a different extend the Qadistu in Vengeance) are honestly some of the coolest additions Atlus has done to a preexisting game to me. These dark neutral factions with goals that honestly feel more like the reasons from Nocturne than anything else: not submitted to a specific allignment, just vastly different ways to see how the world should work. Obviously I'm gonna give my man Dagda the heads up, even taking into account the issues his world could present (even then, i find his world mad interesting to think about), but i do wish we at least had the option to side with Krishna to some extend, see how *that* world played out and what his vision of peace would've truly looked like, I mean hey, look at the Qadistu, slightly different alignment flavor, really more chaos than anything but I like they were an option at all, give me more indepent demonic factions with distinct goals for the world, I love that shit.
@@everice3310except the reason of Yosuga is essentially chaos tho. It’s a world where only beautiful things are allowed to exist(the strong kill the weak)

This was such a amazing indepth video about Krishna, I didnt fully understood his motive when playing it for the first time, but now i get the gist of it.
Years ago when I saw a low res picture of him somewhere, I thought he’s an Indian lad who would join you on the main quest -which I absolutely had no idea about SMT4 yet-. Boy, how wrong was I.
I thought the same thing, I saw a picture of Krishna randomly while just getting into Persona for the first time, long before playing my first mainline SMT game. I assumed he would be a party member
@@ronnocneerb9014 he absolutely didn’t look like a demon at all, a quick glance on a static image anyone would’ve assumed he’s a go lucky kinda guy Man, I love false spoilers
It's nice of you to make sure that everybody knows one guy and a handful of his followers don't speak for an entire religion. I wish Christians got the same courtesy.
Krishna/Vishnu is blue because, from the Rg Veda, he was meant to be an Aditya, or a solar deity, who 'creates space' - not sure what it means, Vishnu is one who creates space for the temperate Gods in their activities, with the Sun expecting to follow his feet, which creates space. Some stories in the RG Veda discuss his friendship with Indra, the primary deity of the Rg Veda, and his follower, sometimes his equal, other times, a necessity for Indra, as he creates space. So, Vishnu is generally described to be 'sky blue' or blue like the sky as he creates space. Hence most of the HIndu avatars of VIshnu are expected to be 'blue' to maintain this link. Now, of all his avatars, Hindus think that Krishna was the most 'complete' avatar, as Rama was an avatar due to his father's sacrifice and the division of the divine porridge into 5 portions, hence Rama was just partially divine as Vishnu was sorta like his 3 brothers, hence he was limited to 3 of the 5 portions of Vishnu (other 1 being his brother, and then 1 was further divided for 2 other brothers (1/2 each). Krishna, in general, was the most 'complete' avatar... Kalki, his other avatar, is expected to end Kalyuga (current age of darkness and deceit). Shesha, from the game, is the only thing that remains when the world is destroyed (hence his name, that which remains)... in case anyone's interested. And he single handedly strategizes victory for his allies when his friend's armies were outnumbered 7 to 11. So, he is often seen as scheming, devious and basically most of the current goals justifying means tends to be attributed to him. Basically, Krishna asks to lie if it leads to good outcomes, if it saves lives and makes society better (examples given tend to be those where some bandits chase a victim and ask an honest man this person's location, if truth is said, it will lead to death - so, kinda like the trolley problem). Krishna and Vishnu are generally known for intellect and logic... and probably order, even if means are somewhat questionable. Having said that, loved the series. In particular when you free him from his sphere, the game really changes pace. When he is entrapped in his sphere again... haha, I was wondering if setting him free to recruit him was going to further complicate things for me in the game!! Haha... the Shesha dungeon is probably the worst in SMT Apocalypse.
@illuminatusdeus3051 thank you for your words, truly a scholar. Also I personally think yhwh dungeon is the worst dungeon in existence, its the one thing that puts me off from replaying smtiva
@@SmoothyCriminal For me, YHWH's dungeon was doable, but the issue with Shesha was that for part of the game, he was 'invincible'... and then the doors part of the Shesha dungeon was complicated. Only part I had to use a guide of some sort. In fact, even YHWH's philosophy in the game is pretty unique... the only thing I do not agree is the differentiation between YWHW and Baal (a seperate entity to be summoned), because I think the most recent finding from the middle east has indicated that Ba'al was not an entity but a method of worship (or sacrifice, ranging from calf/sheep to, well, they claim children). My idea was to elaborate some thinking behind divinity. I feel SMT and Persona series more or less accurately exemplify how the divine motivate us quite well. If you can see one, you need the head checked, if you feel inspired by one, then it's SMT/Persona like situation where you take on some characteristics of your deity. My own post graduate training is in computing, not so much on spirituality or religion/sociology/philosophy unfortunately. Fascinating stuff I can discuss for hours at end...
I thought having a faction whos purely antithetical to your goals makes more sense than say the Mother Goddesses being willing to work with a human in Strange Journey.
great video! I love SMT IV Apocalypse. It's rare to see people talking about this amazing game. Krishna is an incredible villain, the best villain in SMT
Thanks! There’s a lot of IV content on TH-cam but no love for apocalypse. The game is flawed for sure but in my opinion it was definitely a worthy successor to my favourite SMT game
Thank you so much for this look into Krishna with both the controversy and looking into how Krishna presents himself as a villain in the games. And as a big SMT Fan, you got a new sub. I hope someday we get Krisna to come back to the games. SMT V Vengeance got us Dagda, SMT A Odin, Satan, and Danu. I hope Maitreya and Krishna (SMTIVA) come back to the games.
Yea SMT IV:A I believe is the best in the series in terms of gameplay. The balance changes and QOL it made from original IV like Light and Dark spells not being instant kills and smirk being integrated more finely into the gameplay besides being an overpowered gimmick. Although the story has many low points, the high points are gracious spikes that bring the narrative up in terms of player feedback since i believe SMT has always worked better when you are alone, narrative and gameplay wise. I could see a remake or HD version of SMT IV with IV:A's changes surpassing Apocalypse but to would sadly be missing out on the interesting fights from it.
Light and Dark attacks being not insta-kill skills practically stripped their identities as elements in the game. Expel and Curse were the spells you had to worry the most, aside from statuses, due to the fact that being weak to it would be EXTREMELY fatal. Having them just be like every magic element, aside from Almighty, with the only exception being that there are no medium skills for it weakened them in terms of power because their insta-kill abilites BARELY trigger even for enemies that are weak to those elements, even in SMT V. Honestly, Persona 5 made it work because Hama and Mudo skills weren't the only skills you can use for their elements, there was Kouha and Eiha as well and neither Hama nor Mudo skills were nerfed to make it happen. SMT doesn't have that UNLESS we're talking about Liberation.
@@bickerysebastian I personally prefer the Digital Devil Saga approach of only Dark being instant death, and Light being percentage damage. Both of them doing instant-kills was always a bit much for me. As for my experience with SMT5...Light and Dark insta kills occured more than enough for my liking. And it should be noted that in that game, insta kills can ONLY trigger if the enemy is weak to the element. So if you were expecting it to be triggering on any standard enemy, it wont. That might be why you think the kill rates are so low. For me it was around every 3 hits? Which I would consider to be pretty decent odds
Isn't Hinduism an _extremely_ diverse religion? Like, moreso than most? The guy saying "Upset Hindus urge Sega for removal of Lord Krishna from video game" seems like a more absurd version of if one of those "Christian" pastors raising a fuss in the 90's over Pokémon claimed to be speaking for all denominations, at least from my limited perspective. All that being said, I don't have any issue with Hindus taking offense to the portrayal (I can actually empathize, as I have my own issues with the Law faction's tendency to mix God with the Gnostic Demiurge), I'm just put off by the guy seemingly trying to speak for a very diverse group of people.
I suppose retroactively you could classify them that way, obviously that title didn’t exist yet in SMTIV but honestly the canon between these games is tenuous at best. They’ve more or less confirmed a multiverse where only certain titles take place in the same timeline and it’s possible that the Nahobino concept could just get dropped entirely come SMT6 and simply be a thing that exclusively exists in the SMTV Universe. Long-winded way if saying yeah kinda but also maybe not? lmao Apologies for rambling.
@spaceghost8886 while they are disconnected with only 1 and 2 and 3 and 5 being directly linked. 1 and 2 by the creator stating it and 3 and 5 due to story reason(the thermal/da'at) 4 is the only one not linked and even then it's linked by the dlc being cannon and the protagonist of the past games being called "masiahs" so maybe the terms could be interchangeable or one is from a human who rises up to the throne but can't clame it without knowledge and the other is one who can clame it due to getting their true form
@spaceghost8886 part of the fun of smt V (vanilla) for me was trying to fit it's lore and nocturne together, at least those two work quite well. Specially if you take lucifer in V saying he killed god as him taking credit for what demi-fiend did in the TDE of nocturne.
I DEFINITELY did not like SMT4-A at all. But i have to give the game two credits: - Krishna is awesome - The battle system is even better The rest of the plot can burn in a fire, but these two points were great. Love your video
We really should've had a Divine Powers route for a bad ending. I'm one of the few fans that did not think. SMT IVA was as bad as people made it out to be. It was a flawed, yet fun game. Thank you for covering Krishna! He was easily one of the best parts of the game.
One detail that allures to seshas disguise is during the threeway showdown. For some reason, "flynn" sacrifices a lot of soldier's during both merkabahs and lucifurs battles. When we all know that flynn himself would have helped alone to minimize casualties.
16:52 I think both routes are actually the same. Gods represent Ideas, only humans can give them personality and form, so whose is control is essentially a paradox
Overall good video and explanation of who Kurishna was in Megami Tensei. Just a few things off: Gods being reduced to lesser versions of themselves like Baal happens to many religions in SMT but not *all* of them. Hinduism is one of them that is generally kept in tact isn't bound by YHVH's nonsense and is generally a "stronger" religion in the series due to it's principles having things that align with the core of Megami Tensei's cosmology (reincarnation for one). You'll see this in how Digital Devil Saga has Brahman as an equal to "normal" YHVH. And yes the Divine Powers are called demons but SMT uses the word demon as the Greek term "daemon" personified spirits, as all of these demons are sentient concepts, phenomena and archetypes. So Gods are just extremely powerful demons/Demons can just be extremely weak or lesser gods. And Kurishna here was honestly one of the most powerful beings in the series, considering he made a beefed up a Lucifer and his equal have put their shit on halt to deal with him (Which keep in mind, normal Lucifer had the very universe of SMT III collapse on his face and felt nothing)
good video i wish the divine powers were expanded more in this game, i remember enjoying every time they showed up but i feel like they didn't get too much development at the same time also yea as a guy whos from a hindu family its def interesting seeing how this game portrayed krishna and how they took a lot of his traits and ideologies and kinda put a spin on them
I do like how the divine powers appear much earlier in the game relative to other games in the series with their antagonists. You already know who your up against for a large portion of the game and they get a decent amount of screen time. In strange Journey you don’t really hear about the mothers outside of missable demon dialogue slightly hinting at them but you don’t really have a focus on them till like half way through the game and you don’t see them until like the literal end of the game
3 years ago since I bought my 3DS and sold it, now I own n3ds XL yet I haven't play Apologize because I must do 4 endings and DLC Bosses now before going to SMT IV Apologize.
I think this is the first time I've seen someone speak well of SMT IV Apocalypse Congratulations on the video, it made me like Krishna even more You define the difference between the dagda and the divine powers very well, it seems like people don't know how to read, it's always obvious why the dagda didn't side with them, the divine powers were more for the gods, the dagda was for humanity I think Atlus should have made an ending for the divine powers, but I believe they didn't do that because the game focuses on a story focusing on the antagonist like smt if I never understood the hate for smt iv Apocalypse they say the game is bad because everyone stays alive in one of the endings but smt 3 has an ending like that I'm sad that Atlus will never release SMT IV Apocalypse for other platforms because they believe no one will like this game smt iv received hate after release and smt iv Apocalypse is hated to this day
0:39 if we are including dlc then Stephen is the strongest character we have fought as it took the five smt protagonist at that time, including aleph who killed god without doing anything to make him weaker like nanashi and Flynn did, to prove that yourself worthy to him and if we don’t count him then we have matter/transcended Lucifer from 5 who beat god and absorbed his power
I’m surprised that there hasn’t been any controversy surrounding recent Persona games over depictions of religious entities yet considering how massively popular Persona is becoming. SMT’s first and only controversy coming from a mainline game is wild.
Krishna was such a good villain, i wish he had a route instead of the friendship route. It’s so much more interesting as a concept. I get why not though

@@backupschmliff1156i didn’t see you ask about vengeance, sorry. I have mixed feelings, at first it’s really good and by midpoint it’s amazing but it really derails at the endgame. When i heard the Dagda individuality bit i was like *isn't that Musubi From Nocturne?* 😂 Although i wonder how much Krisna's universe idea was retooled for SMT 5 especially given the *a world where many different gods are worshipped freely* ending bit especially lel
krishna and the divine powers are, to me, smt's equivalent of The Legion from fallout:NV. a perfect antagonist faction that constantly keeps the plot going. also having krishna as a party member just feels so... right, even though it may contrast with the other two eldritch horrors that will be in your party in most playthroughs.
One of the reasons I think SMT gets away with it's representations is because they aren't fully literal (just a representation and mentioned in the video) or they are taken to the extreme. I forget where i found the interview but when asked why Yahweh is so tyrannical, the creators said something along the lines of "It's to show how screwed up the world." Meaning if that is the Christian God in that world, a being of immeasurable forgiveness, how bad is the rest of the world?
I mean Yahweh in the Judaeo/Christian religion is not a good deity to begin with. In our world if you look hard enough its a fucking horrible entity, besides Yahweh is originally a Canaanite God of metallurgy. It was a that a low tier god that a group of people from Levant wanted to make special so a cult was born from that and eventually became what it is today and even then much of its "lore" and backstory has changed a lot in the last 3,200 years.
I mean, a lot of the demons in the series have designs that contradict their lore and mythology, it’s not just Idun. Who even cares? All the dead vikings? lol
Divisions being bad is false understanding because divisions always emerge one way or another & thus having smaller groups with their own protector Gods would have allowed humans to pursue more than just one way of life with checks & balances on each other.
Consider how polytheistic communities engaged historically where both difference & cooperation happened simultaneously so no maintainance & preservation of divisions are not inherently wrong.
Point taken! I wish there was a divine powers ending so this idea could be explored. If they rewrote the story to make them less patronizing it would have worked well as an alignment
@@bluemori2822 Not played the game so can't comment on it & not sure if it is even possible to explore these without modernity's underlying presupppositions. I'm a Christian and have no problem with this franchise, i know it is art and i appreciate it for what it is. I wouldn't even mind having straight up Jesus in the game, no matter how they portrai him, i would just be excited how they chose to design him since the character designs are always a highlight. In SMT 5 V i saw that they gave lucifer some traits that made him feel like a Jesus figure in a very weird way. That's exactly the creativity i like to see.
The only sin of SMTIVA is not having Divine Powers endings. Some would say it's the Personafied aspect of the protagonist's team, but that is soon dismissed when the Massacre ending is there to relieve you.
The fact people want to side with Krishna, even though he's pretty open about the fact they'd just be pets for the politheistic religion gods and you have zero reason to side with them, speaks volumes to how charismatic and how good a villain he is.
@Humdeeheyyahawikiahaye At least religions generally try to convince you the deity cares about you. Case in point, Merkabah and Lucifer's preaching about rewarding the strong/protecton of god, even if they end up taking advantage of their believers later. I don't think there were many, if any humans in-game convinced by the Divine Powers, nor did they care (besides beggining, maybe? And the fake-out option in Krishna's fight), you're getting in the fucking snake belly by tricks and force. My first thought after reading this comment was actually politicians, who in recent years, don't even have to lie about ridiculous ideas to get followers.
Belial and Nebiros also don't adopt a small serial killer slash child in their mythology as far as I know, doing goofy things with religion is kind of how this series rolls

Like the d e s i g n a t e d caste system.
I think the reason bosses in nocturne and lucifer/ merkabah are all nahobino
@@armanimillerMakes sense. Only a Nahobino can ascended the Throne and create a new world. Meaning the Demi-Fiend was Lucifer's attempt at creating a Artificial Nahobino.
Hmm... A Prototype so to speak? I do love the sound of that.

Though, I would have wished Krishna was less cartoonishly evil
battler
Dagda's route is peak SMT
Well, the primary antagonist until the game tacked on YHVH's dungeon, at least.
I love how anarchy arc is just nanashi getting tired of persona 4 golden and bro went rouge
I'm a full blown orthodox christian and I adore SMT for everything that it is. Whoever has their panties in a twist over these games needs a reality check.
Yeah I’m the same way honestly. It’s not hard to separate fantastical fiction from real life theology, at least for me personally.
Catholic and I could give a fuck either
If Hinduism was well understood globally without centuries of Orientalisms {continuing in academia} there would have been fewer of these issues. For E.g. in many academic fields current term employed to depict Hinduism is Brahmanism.

I've been saying for a while that Krishna is a great villain in a series not particularly known for it's villains, but I feel like he never got talked about much. So glad I found this video and channel!
I wish you were more popular, this is a very good analysis of the character
Every Reason in Nocturne is Law aligned.
@@everice3310except the reason of Yosuga is essentially chaos tho. It’s a world where only beautiful things are allowed to exist(the strong kill the weak)
@@donaldtrump2728 all the Reasons are law-aligned in the sense that it's playing by the rules of the Conception rather than questioning the nature of it or rebelling entirely. Hell, Yosuga is directly supported by the angels despite being a more chaos-leaning Reason. My headcanon for why is because Yosuga is the Reason that changes the world the least, and the angels in SMT are all about preserving the status quo no matter what
@@nataliecoronado4206 that actually makes a lot of sense
This was such a amazing indepth video about Krishna, I didnt fully understood his motive when playing it for the first time, but now i get the gist of it.
Years ago when I saw a low res picture of him somewhere, I thought he’s an Indian lad who would join you on the main quest -which I absolutely had no idea about SMT4 yet-.
Boy, how wrong was I.
I thought the same thing, I saw a picture of Krishna randomly while just getting into Persona for the first time, long before playing my first mainline SMT game. I assumed he would be a party member
@@ronnocneerb9014 he absolutely didn’t look like a demon at all, a quick glance on a static image anyone would’ve assumed he’s a go lucky kinda guy
Man, I love false spoilers
This game is amazing, and the hate it got was ALWAYS unjustified. Genuinely outstanding. I hope it gets a remake
It's nice of you to make sure that everybody knows one guy and a handful of his followers don't speak for an entire religion.
I wish Christians got the same courtesy.
There are dialogue options that allow you to attempt to side with the divine powers, but Dagda will physically prevent you from doing so
Krishna/Vishnu is blue because, from the Rg Veda, he was meant to be an Aditya, or a solar deity, who 'creates space' - not sure what it means, Vishnu is one who creates space for the temperate Gods in their activities, with the Sun expecting to follow his feet, which creates space.
First and foremost your voice is amazing and very suited for long explanations and details. Very glad TH-cam recommended this video to me
I thought having a faction whos purely antithetical to your goals makes more sense than say the Mother Goddesses being willing to work with a human in Strange Journey.
great video!
Great video! Found your videos today and they’re great quality. Looking forward to more. :)
Thank you very much !
You think better than V?
@@Pikachu-qr4yb I think Apocalypse gameplay is better than base V but Vengeance and Apocalypse are tied for me.
I like Strange Journey and V combat better, but Apocalypse is probably my third favorite gameplay-wise.
Is vishnu-flynn a nahobino? 🤔
Long-winded way if saying yeah kinda but also maybe not? lmao
Apologies for rambling.
Every SMT universe has its own lore. So far, V's universe is the only universe where nahobinos exist.
In the demon haunt Vishnu states that he once became an avatar to save humanity but recognizes the nahobino as the current fulfillment of that role.
When Qaditsu review from SMT V???
I wanna finish the game before giving my full thoughts. I’m about 70 percent done
The best part is that it means this Rajan guy played SMT 4 Apocalypse
I DEFINITELY did not like SMT4-A at all.
But i have to give the game two credits:
- Krishna is awesome
- The battle system is even better
The rest of the plot can burn in a fire, but these two points were great.
Love your video
I'm sorry but DAMN Krishna's character design is pretty good, he's so hot zamn
love my hindu god twink
We really should've had a Divine Powers route for a bad ending. I'm one of the few fans that did not think. SMT IVA was as bad as people made it out to be. It was a flawed, yet fun game.
Thank you for covering Krishna! He was easily one of the best parts of the game.
One detail that allures to seshas disguise is during the threeway showdown. For some reason, "flynn" sacrifices a lot of soldier's during both merkabahs and lucifurs battles. When we all know that flynn himself would have helped alone to minimize casualties.
Ah yes I forgot about that. The famous smirking Flynn sprite
16:52 I think both routes are actually the same. Gods represent Ideas, only humans can give them personality and form, so whose is control is essentially a paradox
Overall good video and explanation of who Kurishna was in Megami Tensei. Just a few things off:
Gods being reduced to lesser versions of themselves like Baal happens to many religions in SMT but not *all* of them. And Kurishna here was honestly one of the most powerful beings in the series, considering he made a beefed up a Lucifer and his equal have put their shit on halt to deal with him (Which keep in mind, normal Lucifer had the very universe of SMT III collapse on his face and felt nothing)
good video
i wish the divine powers were expanded more in this game, i remember enjoying every time they showed up but i feel like they didn't get too much development at the same time
also yea as a guy whos from a hindu family its def interesting seeing how this game portrayed krishna and how they took a lot of his traits and ideologies and kinda put a spin on them
I do like how the divine powers appear much earlier in the game relative to other games in the series with their antagonists.
I think this is the first time I've seen someone speak well of SMT IV Apocalypse
Congratulations on the video, it made me like Krishna even more
You define the difference between the dagda and the divine powers very well, it seems like people don't know how to read, it's always obvious why the dagda didn't side with them, the divine powers were more for the gods, the dagda was for humanity
I think Atlus should have made an ending for the divine powers, but I believe they didn't do that because the game focuses on a story focusing on the antagonist like smt if
I never understood the hate for smt iv Apocalypse they say the game is bad because everyone stays alive in one of the endings but smt 3 has an ending like that
I'm sad that Atlus will never release SMT IV Apocalypse for other platforms because they believe no one will like this game
smt iv received hate after release and smt iv Apocalypse is hated to this day
ATLUS! BRING BACK KRISHNA TO SMT AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!
Probably because it's mostly "cognitions" of gods and false gods in Persona, rather than the real gods "in the flesh" like in SMT.
Krishna was such a good villain, i wish he had a route instead of the friendship route. It’s so much more interesting as a concept. I get why not though

krishna and the divine powers are, to me, smt's equivalent of The Legion from fallout:NV. a perfect antagonist faction that constantly keeps the plot going.
also having krishna as a party member just feels so... right, even though it may contrast with the other two eldritch horrors that will be in your party in most playthroughs.

Jonathan and Walter actually came first.
@@gottesurteil3201the thing is they were eaten, no longer alive.

Pretty sure chiaki and Issamu are before him.
Nahobino concepts comes from way before it. Chiaki and Isamu on SMT3 are basically nahobino by SMTV description.
I feel sorry for the people who got mad that the Norse Goddess Idun was portraid as a pop idol cosplaying Little Red Riding Hood.
I don't get why people still pretend her design is good, God It's was awful

Divisions being bad is false understanding because divisions always emerge one way or another & thus having smaller groups with their own protector Gods would have allowed humans to pursue more than just one way of life with checks & balances on each other.
Consider how polytheistic communities engaged historically where both difference & cooperation happened simultaneously so no maintainance & preservation of divisions are not inherently wrong.
Exactly.
Point taken! I wish there was a divine powers ending so this idea could be explored. If they rewrote the story to make them less patronizing it would have worked well as an alignment

Who would win (SMT4A Alignment rep edition): The literal Lord of Chaos himself, some seraph OR a Hindu twink who loves to toot his flute? 🥴

You should make smt lore videos like tony4you. This was really good.
I’ve not played this entry, but Krishna sounds like a cool ass villain and he’s sauve in his outfit ❤
The fact people want to side with Krishna, even though he's pretty open about the fact they'd just be pets for the politheistic religion gods and you have zero reason to side with them, speaks volumes to how charismatic and how good a villain he is.
@Humdeeheyyahawikiahaye
Stretch.
I'm pretty sure Xi Wangmu and the MJGA squad are more controversial villains and they are from the same game
