    Mitsubishi Mirage, it's nicer than riding the bus. That should be its slogan.

      I just test drove a loaded 2017 SE that was 12 grand. I am waiting for it to be further discounted. I really like having cruise for long trips. The other extras were not as important to me, but nice all the same.

      I think that you're right. I put in for a xfer for one of these today, but after seeing parts of this video, my mouth was literally wide open. Then, he reeled me back in with the "nicer than riding the bus" slogan.

      Depends on where you live? We have a pretty handy bus system. I like talking to people sometimes, too.

      I used to ride the bus in the Saginomiya neighborhood of Tokyo to Asagaya JR station; it was a delightful experience as it was clean, cheap, and on time. I rode the bus recently from Fruitvale Oakland to Oakland airport and it was scary.

      Part of that is a the odd Stigma in the USA. Our priorities are a complete Mess. I like reading, being part of the community, seeing everyday people.. transit is pretty great. Oakland is socioeconomically in the different spot as well. Either you own a home and make good money or are barely getting by there.

    Sooo my wife bought one. She didn't tell me about it until she brought it home for good reason, I would have talked her out of it for sure. With that being said, I'm impressed. That 74hp number is tough to swallow, but honestly it's enough for the size of the car. I drove it for a couple days and didn't once have any problems with acceleration, merging on the highway or passing. It's perfect for the driving she does.
    That seems to go against alot of the youtube reviews, so I'm happy about that.
    The 3cyl engine actually made me crack a smile, it has that odd cyl rumble to it, reminded me of the way the old VW bugs sounded. imo it sounds better than most 4cyl.
    My only issue with the car is what he pointed out with the steering not snapping back to center. That did not feel good at all. However, I did get used to it very quickly.
    If you need a cheap car to get around, don't like paying for gas... This is a no brainer. Currently it's getting 42mpg and almost all of that (I'd say 90%) is in town miles.
    As far as ride quality, it's very good considering price and 14" wheels.
    In short, I've found most reviews on here are just plain wrong in a few areas. Test drive one and decide.

    • @Mookaton
      @Mookaton 10 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      One last thing I noticed in this vid when he's talking about acceleration for passing etc... He has the CVT. With this CVT (as well as her old cars CVT) when you pass, you need to floor it. (which he's not doing) And I mean all the way. There is a switch that you will feel click at the floor. What that switch does is tell the CVT to "downshift" and you get good acceleration.
      PS as far as the not fun to drive comment....Who the hell doesn't enjoy a go-kart? It's as fun as you make it.

      I have a 2019 model, without any extra crap loaded in it, without trying, I manage 54 MPG. I enjoy the sheer simplicity, efficiency, and cuteness of the car. And it reminds me of my dreams when I was a kid, where I wanted a road legal go kart.
      That car embodies that dream. My other car is a 2006 S-Class that I bought used from the original owner for $12k USD. Next car is going to be a w222 S560 in a couple years when the prices fall more. I love cars, almost all cars. The mirage is a cheap, humble, honest little shit box that I'm confident I can rely on for many years to come

      I chose the Subaru Forester (a 2018 with 37k miles) for my first car. The reason? It has good fuel economy for an SUV (26 city, 32 hwy, and 28 combined), I knew it had a good reputation, it has amazing visibility, and it's very safe. Plus, I often go places where you need a truck or SUV.

    I own one. I love it. The 44 miles per gallon it advertises is severely understated. I consistently get ~50 miles per gallon on the way to and from work and I'm not even driving it on the highway. It's all back country roads. On a good day I got 54 miles per gallon! And it's not even a hybrid!! And it costs 1/3 the price of a hybrid! For $12,500 base price I was able to afford to dude it up with front, rear and side spoilers, a chrome package, a CVT and keyless entry with Bluetooth. If I'm running on fumes and I fill 'er up it costs me a whopping $25! The stereo is good with a good dynamic range. I play my Pandora on it from my cellphone wirelessly and the artist and song names display on the dash. I got the metallic red one. Its surprisingly spacious inside. I'm _very_ happy. :-D

    I think it sounds like a good starter car. I'm a teenager just getting my license and looking to buy and though maybe not the best out there, this looks like the perfect car to start off with. It has a good warranty, it's affordable, and it'll definitely help me park a lot more easily than a lot of other cars.

    Come on KBB. Wake up and smell the coffee. Someone who even looks at buying this IS NOT worried about "How fun it is to drive" or "How much power it has". This car is meant for people who are sitting in 35mph freeway traffic day after day after day on their way to work. It's perfect for commuters whom I'd suggest would probably have a "better" car at home and use this for going to work in. It ain't half bad.

    • @mmiller1188

    • @casmatori
      @casmatori 10 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Exactly. KBB are obsessed with "How much performance it has!" or it's "0-60". When most average buyers who buy cars in this class are more concerned about their expenditure and/or the overall value for money. This car is completely what it says on the tin, it's an ECONOMY car.

    I bought this car in 2015 new and in that exact same color. I have LOVE, LOVE, LOVED it. It took me on a month-long trip to New Orleans and back to Riverside CA, about a 5,000-mile trip. Next, I took it on a 6-week trip to Puyallup, WA and back. About a 4,000-mile trip. I am currently at 73,000 miles and this is when the more expensive repairs start, but that's okay. I wanted a green car, and this was the least expensive and had the best gas mileage. I have had 4 people in my car many times. The back seats are roomy if there are only 4 people as shown. When I test drove it, I got on the freeway ramp, which almost always rises up, and floored it. It has get up and go, but you do have to decide if you can beat the 18-wheeler or need to get behind it. LOL. I actually would buy this car again, but maybe with a backup camera.

You clearly sound like you'd rather piss away your money on a used car that could've been abused. The engines are fine. Yeah the interior isn't amazing but it'd last longer than soft touch material, Baking from the sun.

    6 years on and i've done 167000km without a single mechanical failure and i still get down to 4.5 litres per 100km. I'm 6'1" and i still have leg room to spare. The biggest surprise is not how slow it is to take off at the lights which is pretty average (unless you don't care about the fuel economy) but the fact you can boot the car at 100km/h and manage to overtake easily, before i knew it i was doing 130km/h.

    Its funny how people try knock this car. Look at the sales this lil champ is receiving world wide. Granted the suspension is soft/body roll/and it might not be the fastest or prettiest. The appeal of the car is low cost/safety/and mpgs. Im enjoying averaging 48 on highways and ive taken the car to get a lil over 51 on long commutes. Im in the process in stiffening the suspension. Im more than happy with the car.

    I don't know why people are criticizing this car. This car is just your standard from A to Point B car. Its cheap and gives great gas mileage thats comparable to a hybrid. I own a luxury version Mirage with CVT. I can relate to some of the criticism here. But the Mirage is a rational car. I find the points of criticism not very important. My over all impression is very good. But I too have things I would have liked better:
    1. The seats are slightly too hard
    2. The rear suspension does not like fast bumps
    3. The steering is precise, but gives no feedback at all.
    4. The electric power steering resists very fast turning the steering wheel.
    5 The front alloy wheels need cleaning every week.
    6. Wheel arches noise insulation only fitted on upmarket trims (which I fortunately have)
    7. The car does not involve you in any way with the driving. Car jounalists find this a negative point. I call it relaxed cruising.
    8. The headrests are too much to the front. I almost have to tilt my head downwards if I do not want to touch them with the back of my head. Very, very annoying.
    There are 100 positive points. If I would mention them all, this would be a lengthy comment. The most important:
    1. Gas mileage.
    2. CVT automatic is a dream, very intelligent design, but not on a WRC rally stage.
    3. It is really extremely quiet, even at high speed (upmarket versions only)
    4.The road holding is superb, you could go on a WRC rally stage easily with that.
    5. Never saw so many electronic aid systems in one car to keep you safe on the road, let alone in one that is so cheap!
    6. 7 airbags and 4 stars in Euro NCAP test.
    7. Excellent headlights in the dark, I think the best with old fashioned halogen headlights.
    8. Automatic wipers and automatic lights work just as I would do manually.
    9. The Stereo is fantastic quality for a subcompact.
    10 The brakes feel as if they are precision instruments.
    One subjective point. The car grows on you. You will be appreciating it better and better with time.

      Ronald de Rooij
      Compromises appear to have been made to optimize the Mirage for city use, and for high MPG. The caster angle of the front end is such that the car has a very tight turning circle. But the downside to this is poor steering return and bus-like handling. The front tires want to tuck under the nose of the car when cornering, and this is largely due to the caster. Cars built for handling, like BMWs, have radically different caster angles...and a very large turning circle. Further, the car has very small, narrow 'low rolling resistance' tires. Low rolling resistance means just that...rolling resistance from the front tires is one of the things that pushes the steering back to center when the wheel is released and the car is moving forward. The electric power steering is also a factor...there is no hydraulic pressure acting to help return the steering to center when the wheel is released.
      Each one of these things has an effect, and the cumulative effect is substantial.
      In short, the Mirage was designed this way. This is the same company that made the Evo...they could have made it a corner-carver had they wanted to!

    • @ronaldderooij1774
      @ronaldderooij1774 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaron Costello Thanks. Useful information. By the way, the front suspension of the Mirage is derived (indirectly), or shall we say, inspired by, the Evo IV....

    • @goclunker
      @goclunker 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaron Costello Really? Thats why my m3 has 3 degrees of extra castor stock and the steerting always returns to center, not to mention it has the precision of a scalpel. Stop defending a turd.

    • @aaroncostello8812
      @aaroncostello8812 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Konrad Checinski I have a 325i. It requires a turning circle of about FORTY FEET because of that extra caster. The Mirage, being designed as a city car, needs about half of that because it has less caster. The advantage of high caster is good steering return, the disadvantage is a large turning radius. The advantage of low caster is a small turning radius, the disadvantage is poor steering return.
      Stop comparing apples to oranges. These cars are designed for two entirely different purposes.

    I have owned one since 2015 and I like it. Gets great mpg. My only complaint is that when it is really windy, it bounces on the road. You have to fight it a bit. Much bigger on the inside than it seems from outside look. My daughter calls it the TARDIS. The hands free phone set up is very cool. Sounds great and is very easy to use. I am looking at a 2019 Mirage g4 rf next. Also love the keyless system. You carry the "box" in your pocket. Never lock the keys in the car again.

    just got mine, been using it for 4 months now and i have no complains about it. gas mileage is good, the ride is comfortable and the basic techs and safety features like keyless entry, auto climate control, abs etc are there. the infotainment system is also decent, with dvd/cd player ,bluetooth, ipod connectivity, gps and tmps. dont like the idea of buying a " quality used car" .. who knows what mess the previous owner left on it. and its good on the freeway , i dont know why some morons here keeps moaning about that. its acceleration is quite slow compared to larger cars but it still reaches the desired maximum speed limit and unless you dont plan to use the freeway like an f1 race track then youre all good with the mirage. handling is quite vague but if you are a real driver and not some cry ass dude acting like a woman, then definitely you can deal with that.

The heated seats and reverse camera are very welcome. I don't get all the negative reviews on TH-cam. I've never had such a reliable car. I have had slower cars like the Suzuki Alto. Now that was a crappy car! No, the Mirage will do me fine.

    Here we go again with another slam small efficient cars vignette.. I drove the mirage DE CVT model last weekend it was great. I enjoyed the way the ride was cushy instead of harsh and choppy like certain other small cars. Then again I'm not like most Americans - I have a sane BMI and don't expect to drive 100 mph in a 55 zone. A car is for getting around not proving how much money you can blow to impress people you don't like. If you want a huge SUV to cart your gut to the buffet then buy one but you don't need to knock a car just because it's designed to be efficient and affordable.

    I own a 2015 Mirage. I've had it for 6 years and I love it. The only trouble I've had is replacing the alternator. It routinely gets 50 mpg on the highway. And when I'm in a hurry, it does well in the left lane. When this one dies, I plan to get another one.

    This review is designed as puerile entertainment and obviously has limited value as objective and proper critique. But even taking this video seriously, I wonder what they are talking about. I have been driving my Mirage for four months and I am utterly tickled. I look at all the other cars my size or smaller and know I have so much more for my money. And he is dead wrong about the pick up. The car has serious pick up and enjoys being gassed hard on pick up which is the manner in which I like to exercise any car, rather than necessarily being a speedster in general. I am so happy with the interior and exterior design of this car. I am thrilled and proud to be driving my Mirage, just love it.

    I bought the Mitsubishi Mirage 2014 SE 1 month ago and despite the cheep interior I'm actually happy i did the right choice .
    My previews car , the transmission broke and i had a choice repair a car that is over 120.000 miles and pay 4000 $ or buy a new one , sure i did not had the money for a new one and i needed to go to work the next day , so i was looking for an Electric car but in 30 minutes of Google on the phone and GPS to find places where i can charge it in Chicago i decided to let the Electric idea go away for now , then i see this Mitsubishi Mirage 2014 DE pink .... wtf ... so i move on , I see Mitsubishi Mirage 2014 SE Silver and i start asking the dealer questions about it , Automatic transmission , Bluetooth , USB , 45 Miles /1 gal , so fine i test it out , yes is cheep inside , noise sometimes but not an uncomfortable noise , i decided to buy it dealing with the dealer i get a good price for it 12.500$ NEW , 10 years full repair warranty or 100.000 miles , so all good i drive it every day to work my wife the same and we are happy the way is handling on the road plus 450 miles with 10gal of gas, ( full ) if you drive 45-50 miles/h , perfect , then with my friends going out i needed some power I have an option from normal D ( drive mode ) to B (drive mode ) and it accelerate faster , feels close to an Engine that was added all the parts to make it faster to make it sport but from 450 miles/10gal you consume more 400-350/10gal , speed up to 70 - 80 miles/h . I do 1100 miles per month work , family , shopping , the lighting at night is good , fog lights , driving on a storm weather was good , brakes are good , I don't know yet how it will drive in the winter but I'm happy the SUV i had broke , because I go at the gas station now to fill up the car every 2 weeks and not every 5 - 4 days ! So if you need a car to take you from point A to point B and cheep this is the best at the moment !

    Micahs a cool dude and I like his humor. I own the new 19 Mirage and they have really improved it over the past couple years. The ride and handling is much better even in wind. It s a light 2000 lb car that gets 45 mpg almost all the time on highway if not more. In the City I get 40 or more. So the car kicks butt on mpg and It has a nice 5 speed stick. Its a lot easier to use than the Nissan Versa I had last year and didn't like. The interior of the Mirage is also much nicer than the base Versa. Mirage comes with power everything and I personally like the seats and dash better as well. The Mirage also kicks the Spark's butt when it comes to rear legroom. Both the Versa and Mirage have really good leg room in rear. The Spark does not. There are some trade offs to get such good mileage but the Mirage is a great car for a great price. I paid 10k plus tax for my new ES model on an auto show week special in Erie PA. Go to a dealer who sells a lot of them to get your best deal. Depreciation is high so I might even buy another one that iis a few years old. But If you can get a Mirage for 10900 or even 10k like I did you should scoop it up quick. I haven't driven the cvt yet but I may in future.

The bus can get crowded and no available seats and there are stinking and rude people on the bus. Bus stops are not always near your destination, you still would have to walk a couple of blocks and the bus is really hardly on time. When taking the bus, you really can't carry too much groceries or shopping bags with you on the bus, there is hardly enough room to place them anywhere. So, I prefer having a car and not hassle with all the inconvenience of taking the bus. Oh there are many questionable characters that take the bus unfortunately.

    I just bought a new 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT. I agree with some of the things that the reviewer criticized. Set it and forget about it is something that bothered me a little in the beginning. One reviewer said, it is Mitsubishi Massage, which I agree especially for CVT (CVT generates more vibration and sound than manual). But I think most professional reviewers do not consider why people actually buy this car. People who buy this car (including myself) actually wants good gas mileage and rich standard features, cheap price tag, and reliability, which Mirage successfully delivers. I really love the car and recommend to people who wants to save some money but not sacrificing convenience. I think people should really test drive.

    I watched this and decided to buy one. Love at first site I tell you. The only down side is this car is laughable going up grade warning hills, aka anyone in San Francisco, and Seattle good luck. Making turns on highways at high speeds scares the fck out of me because it pulls hard. Also a highway thing that is more my roommate then me is when you're going down the highway it does not feel like your tires are touching the road. Surprising features is the front seat folds forward, and both front seats fold back almost flat. Took a nice nap in my car before work. Surprise in the back seat is the buckles are designed to settle into the seat so no risk of a seat belt jabbing you in the arse. Or loosing them when the seat is folded. The seats even accomidate big people, though the back seat passangers save that for people you hate. But it is good for lounging when your waiting on someone. Though should be noted read the manual or some things will scare you. Like the overheating light coming on and staying on for a few mins after starting. This car was built for idiots, green overheating light just means your car is very cold take care till it warms up. And the USB is simple to hook up devices even the most technological deficient grandparent can figure it out. This car is cute and adorable and probably one of the few Mitsubishi's in a packed parking lot making it easy to find.

    I know this is a very old post, and no one will probably see my post, but. All the cars that were compared to the Mirage are MUCH less reliable, and MUCH more expensive. The 'Smart' car is MUCH more expensive and only seats 2, period!! And no longer in production, only electric ones made now. The Scion, same thing, not in production and MUCH more expensive, and several recalls, on a Toyota?! The Spark? It is as reliable as a used Yugo. The Mirage is VERY reliable, it is a car for getting from point A to B, in decent comfort. And not with a 7yr mortgage payment attached to it.
    A 1-2 yr old model can cost as little as $5-7K! Or less. The brand new ones can be gotten for $10K out the door!!
    Not to bad and the 100K mile warranty is not to shabby. Consider what the car is. It is a best buy. Not every guy needs to prove he is 'bigger' than the other guy, by buying a Porsche:), this car is easy to get and easy to live with.

      "The Spark? It is as reliable as a used Yugo." I've put over 30K miles on my 2017 Spark without a single issue. Spark forum guy has over 100K miles on his 2016 without a single problem. Search the Spark forums. They are solid vehicles. Korean cars have arrived. Calling them "reliable as a used Yugo" is inaccurate and hyperbolic. I drove the 2017 Mirage before I bought the Spark. I really wanted to like the Mirage but it had *terrible* handling, a disconnected ride and a raucous engine. The Spark was better in every way.

    • @mrpoohbearlvr
      @mrpoohbearlvr 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thetinysideoftiny7625 Having 30K miles on a 2+year old car and no issues, is FAR from 'reliable'. Anyone can build a car work for 30K miles, even the OLD Yugo, or OLD Hyundai, but hit 50-60K on your little Spark and watch it start to fall apart. It is built by GM not Daewoo, they are not in business together anymore. The Spark isnt from Korea,it is from the US or Canada...right? I USE to think they were a nice little car and was thinking about getting one, a 1-2 yr old one, BUT I read all the problems with it, and Scotty Kilmer lists it as one of the worst 10 cars to EVER be built, and wont last past 50K miles, he has a video on here about that. Look it up and see what a MECHANIC had to say about it. Hey..1 in a million last forever, great. But I'll get the one that lasts for 25K miles!

    • @thetinysideoftiny7625
      @thetinysideoftiny7625 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrpoohbearlvr Marc, absolutely true as per Scotty Kilmer's video that the 2013 Spark had a recall on certain vehicles for excessive oil consumption. Some of those owners never, ever checked their oil which lead to engine failure. I've seen those same issues with Subaru, Mercedes, and others. I'm not implying that excessive oil consumption is acceptable...but it's not uncommon on many far more expensive vehicles than the Spark.
      I have a friend and two co-workers with first generation Sparks and for him to call them "poorly built rattle buckets" is just plain inaccurate. Period. I've been in 2 of those 3 cars and at 50K plus miles they were fine. The Spark IS a Korean built Daewoo. Years back, GM bought a controlling share in Daewoo and it became known as "GM Daewoo". Years later, GM bought all remaining shares and it became "GM Korea". A duck by any other name is still a duck. My family has had a good experience with Daewoo vehicles. My Dad had a Suzuki Forenza...a Korean built Daewoo and had over 130K before it was stolen (who would steal a 130K Forenza? lol) and that little car was super reliable for my father.
      I did an absurd amount of research before buying the Spark. I was on UK automotive websites and other auto websites from around the world...The first generation Spark was sold other countries since 2009. We did not get it in the US until 2013. There were 4 years worth of reliability ratings, owner opinions, recall data, and professional reviews from a global audience. I walked away from that confident that the Spark was a solid small car. I bought a brand new 2017 Spark (second generation) and I love, love, love, the car. I'll take 4 years worth of global data over Kilmer's opinion ANY DAY.
      PS - thanks for the respectful debate...so many people hide behind a keyboard and are hateful with one another.

      @@thetinysideoftiny7625 Well I would buy a used one, if I had any respect for GM. I dont. They put SO many people out of work, by not making so many models of their cars, like the Cruze, and many Cadilacs, and other GM cars. Practically only building Corvettes and SUVs. Just like Ford. Mustangs and SUVs. And sending the jobs to Mexico/Korea/China. Till that 'SUV bubble' bursts, and gas is back to $4 a gallon, and they RUSH to TRY and build small cars HERE again, I rather buy a foreign car, like the Mirage, it is above board that it is a foreign car, not hiding behind a GM badge. But its a Daewoo. And all the Sparks I know about, are always in the shop for electrical repairs, engine issues, and parts falling of the car, like trim. THAT is just ridiculous. So...Aa Mirage for me, if I ever buy a tiny 'city car' again. Hey, it is like only $5K for a 2yr old one ,with all the stupid toys on it, power everything, and still has its 100K mile warranty on it!! The Spark doesn't have that. @@mrpoohbearlvr Marc, I test drove a 2017 Mirage and it was MISERABLE. To be clear, I LOVE tiny, cheap cars. The handling was horrific. I actually thought the test car had a mechanical issue w the suspension so I asked to drive another one. The second Mirage was just as bad. The car has a mild left / right oscillation on the highway at 60+ MPH that requires CONSTANT steering correction. The steering wheel does not return to center, and suspension movement is so poorly controlled that highway off ramps become a near death experience. The car literally bounds and wallows around corners. I had no idea what the car was doing under me as I drove it! It was downright unsettling to drive. Worst chassis dynamics I've experienced since early 80's econo-crates. The long warranty, good build quality, and great gas mileage could not overcome the horrendous handling, horrendous steering, and engine harshness / vibration.
      I test drove a 2017 Chevy Spark and it was better in every way. It rides and handles like a more expensive car...tracks down the highway at 80 MPH with zero issues. Spark also has a monumentally better IIHS crash test rating, cheaper insurance, better dealer support, cheaper parts cost, and is fun to drive (unlike the Mirage). I bought the Spark brand new for $10,100 OTD. Also, Mitsubishi is on life support in the US...they may not even be around in a few years to cash in on the 10 year warranty.
      Maybe we should agree to disagree lol...in the end, drive the car you want to drive, right?

    Get up and go is not big on my concerns. After all here in CA I feel like driving half the time consists of slamming on my brakes to avoid morons who do sudden lane changes without clearance or blinkers. Or you know traditional stuck in traffic.

    The car " goes" very well in normal conditions. I have a 2017, when I need more power, I pop the CVT into "sport mode" lots more power. No one seems to mention sport mode though.

    I have it two weeks and I am quite satisfied. Interior is old-fasioned bit somehow it is cleverly packed. Yeah, cabin is loud when driving is more energetic, but if you drive it easily it is not the case, at all. Other things are quite allright. Those who don't care how much money is going to spend will buy hybrid from 20k above , and that's it

    Having driven them...the 5-speed REALLY wakes it up, compared to the economy-calibrated CVT. Seat of the pants difference...probably a 2+ second drop in 0-60 time. I also suspect the biggest handling problem is the glazed-donut LRR tires. (That, and the fact that this particular test car had been curbed and needed an alignment.)

    I did my road tests in this car and yes, it does struggle. There are a lot of hills I had to hit and the CVT cried while doing so.

    • @ronaldderooij1774
      @ronaldderooij1774 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +QuadroNVS It is not a sporty car. If you keep the engine below 2000 rpm, you will just go with the flow of traffic without using more fuel than a manual. That is how a CVT should be used.

    • @gkauto1959
      @gkauto1959 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can always use the Ds on the shifter as opposed to just using the standard Drive, it gives you higher rpm range while climbing hills, keep it at 4000 rpm for best acceleration in the CVT. In my Mirage with the CVT I get to 75/80 mph at the top of the hill, so its no slouch but you will burn alot more fuel getting up there, but thats the price of topping hills!

    I test drove one and the only thing I didn't like was how it drove at high speeds. The gas mileage was still pretty good, but going 70 mph on the interstate the engine was doing about 4400 RPMs in 5th gear (and yes, you could hear it). If I didn't have to do a lot of interstate driving I would enjoy it

    Too busy trying to be clever to give a good review. I’m glad a manufacturer is still making a good attempt at an economy car. A three cylinder engine is hard to find. Most car manufacturers these days brag about 34 mpg, in the 80’s we had 50 mpg. We should be applauding companies that hit 45 mpg and above.

    From the inside, the 3 pot actually has a nice raspy engine note imho. If we had the Mitsubishi of the 80s or 90s, they would have totally given us a turbo sport model.

    ...I have this car, or the 2014 version rather, and I gotta say... I love it. It is the car that I have enjoyed owning the most. And the peace of mind that comes with that warranty. I'm a tall guy, 6'3" and this thing can easily fit four people my size; it is as large as as a midsize sedan on the inside. Quite sure its the largest cabin in its class. And the fuel economy. I have gotten it down to 4.1 L/100 km on the highway. It is admittedly slow, but nowhere near as unmanageable as people make it out to be. If anyone has ever driven an old station wagon or van, this thing zooms along just fine. No other car ticks as many things i want off on the market, that is no car that doesn't cost more than double what I paid for it.

      The only omission I really have is the valve adjustments and fluid changes, plus requiring synthetic. I drove a new 2015 sometime back and found it just fine. But I liked a pre owned i-miev better.. that car seems perfect for me.

    • @SpadesHeart
      @SpadesHeart 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was concerned about the use of synthetics as well, until I researched the amount. The car takes 2.8 L of engine oil. You can buy 3 gallon jugs that will last you 5 oil changes, and get someone to put it in and provide a filter for less than 30 CAD, not only that, but the synthetic oil supposedly only needs to be changed half the amount, meaning it goes 10000-12000 km.
