    Mr. Warner's Tolwyn is far more pleasant to be around than Mr. McDowell's. That said Mr. McDowell's Tolwyn is the standard by.which all are judged

      I wonder if he viewed, Mr. McDowell, Tolwyn from WC II OR if he just interpreted the character as Robert’s described him.
      Earlier in the war could account for differences in behavior. They weren’t a “fluke” from winning at that point.

    I thought this film was much better than it was given credit for.
    A few plot holes/iffy dialog.
    But I thought it overall had a great 'feel' to it.
    And much of the acting - especially from the 'character' actors - seemed first rate to me.
    Like here with David Warner.
    Though I think Freddie Prince Jr. did a good job also.

    Hard to believe in around 15 years, Blair would be flying off that ship.

      Actually a different TCS Concordia. The one in the movie is a "Supercruiser". The one in Wing Commander II is a relatively new Confederation Class Dreadnought.

    Hmm... "Welcome back, Lt. Blair' reaaallly should have been "welcome back, Baker Two". That traffic was over a clear radio channel.

    How come they never used wing commander ship model's? Copyright?

    • @WingCommanderCIC
      @WingCommanderCIC  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They needed fighter models that they could easily mock up physical versions for the actors to sit inside. That meant repurposing existing surplus fighter models and adding some sci-fi flair to them.

    • @katherineberger6329
      @katherineberger6329 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      What @@WingCommanderCIC said. They didn't have the budget to build mock-ups of the game ships, so instead they repurposed the cockpit sections of scrapped English Electric Lightnings: ZF577 and ZF586. Unfortunately these two nose sections were heavily modified for the films and appear to have been scrapped afterward.

    • @drksdr
      @drksdr 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@katherineberger6329holy crap; I never actually looked into the film's design process. That must be why they went with those ridiculous cannons on the front because they could mask the air intakes on the nose. I still kinda like the movie for what it is but some of the designs make me weep.

    • @katherineberger6329
      @katherineberger6329 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@drksdr This is also why the F-44 Rapier was later retconned as the "Rapier II." It was originally supposed to be the same ship but obviously budgetary realities scotched that.
