Off-camera, this vehicle is shoring up the breached bulkhead on the flight deck in the Wing Commander Movie. It was shot at least twice with multi-cam setups and only the tires make it into the Final Cut.

Yes, Melek is voiced by Tim Curry who is the one that surrenders at the end.

Although the assets have been open sourced, it's still pretty much a one man show. It would still be an enormous amount of work for Howard Day to turn this into a playable game.

Pfft not even CLOSE! A Vaktoth was not much heavier than an Arrow Mk5! In alm ALL cases Confed fighters were vastly SUPERIOR to anything the Kilrathi ever fielded!
Imaginen if we had a Starfield-like game, Warhammer-like game or Halo-game with this exact style. I wouldnt play anything else. The color pallette is just so crisp, clean and relaxing

Blair: Do it, billions of Humans and Kilrathi have already died because of this war, what's a few more?
To any current and potentially future developers working on this: I would pay hard cash money for a playable release of this. And I'm not talking barrel-bottom niche indie prices, either. $30 for a complete WC1 reskin without a blinking an eye. I could be convinced to pay $40, but I doubt many others would. All I'm saying is: THIS COULD BE WORTH YOUR TIME.
Fun point of reference: the original Wing Commander went on sale for $69.95 in September 1990. That's equivalent to more than $163 today. Its Secret Missions addons were $20 each at the time. For the full original Wing Commander experience in early 1991, it would have cost more than $250 in 2024 dollars.
Did Howie abandon this?
I remember the first time I did the Kilrathi run to deliver the temblor bomb. This is my favorite all time game! Upvote if you told all your wingman to retreat as soon as the mission started so none of your wingman would end up dying on the way to Kilrah!
This is phenomenal! I had no idea this much effort was going into enhancing and expanding these! I for one am excited for whatever updates may yet follow.
