1995 - 2002 OBS GM Truck Parking Brake Release Cable (at Handle) Repair (Chevy & GMC)

How to remove, replace and repair the small parking brake release cable under the drivers side dash of 95 96 97 98 99 and 2000 2001 2002 (carry over GMT400 models only) GM C/K old body style (OBS) full size trucks that connects to the release handle. Chevrolet & GMC models Suburban Tahoe Yukon Silverado Cheyenne Sierra and W/T.
This repair is commonly needed when the parking brake release handle separates from the release cable due to age related plastic deterioration. The release handle itself can also crack, but this is less common.

Good video! FYI if you have that clip on the back that holds the 2 in place , broke like mine , just remove it and I used a zip tie thru the hole around the 2

I have the opposite problem, the handle broke off of the cable end, but the cable end tabs are intact. Where can I get the handle?

That is a really crappy design. I would most likely epoxy that in place after installing the new cable so it doesn’t break again
