Shows to how to release the parking brake on my 2001 Silverado with a broken cable. This should be similar for any GM vehicles with this style parking brake release.
Dude I love you. The idiots at the inspection station used my parking brake after asking them not to and now im sitting on the side of the road with no tools wondering wtf to do lol. Thank you kindly sir, you are truly a gentleman and a scholar.
TRIPLE THANKS - I AM A 66 YEAR OLD WOMAN STUCK IN A PARKING LOT AT 11PM - YOUR VIDEO GOT ME ON THE ROAD QUICKLY AND EASILY!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Another video would have had me taking my wheels off and pulling out cables 😬
Quick and easy fix, if you know what to look for. Had borrowed a friend’s truck and I was stuck in a parking lot, trying one thing after another, (no it doesn’t work to push both the brake and parking brake at the same time), looking up how to fix it until I watched your video. Awesome 😎
I got the same thing going on with my truck. It's not that big of a deal but, if it's down just a little, the brake light blinks on the dash and DINGS LIKE CRAZY ! gonna try to get it unstuck in the morning. Looks simple enough.
I attached a vise grip on the release mechanism until I got a new cable for an easy reach down and release. Ended getting down every time I forgot and reset the brake.
What if that U shaped valve is bent. Looks like previous owner bent it. So the tab doesn’t pull forward. Looks like it’s bent behind metal. Is there a way to manually release e brake pressure under the truck?
Yes you are correct,,, but the 2004 Silverado LT is just a little different. It's really simple. Just push the safety brake to the floor, then lift the lever where the cable connects and walk it out slowly. And you safety brake is released.

Use a coat hangar with hook made on one end, until replaced.
