I found it easiest to feed it through, hook ball, then attach handle before clipping in place. I also pulled fuse box box to give my hands more room to work. Thanks for video..

Thanks much for doing this. Same problem on a (still wonderful) 2003 Z71 Tahoe (340K miles) - confirmed what I saw under dash. As an old bike mechanic, a lot like replacing a brake cable! Success!
This helped out a lot. I left the release handle loose while inserting the plastic end through the hole. It seemed to give me a little more room to move the assembly with.
after i replaced the cable to my 06 tahoe, there is little resistance to the e brake pedal, in fact i believe the shoes do not engage. did you experience that?
I'm having a hard time finding my model. 1992 GMC c2500 sierra p/u And tutorials can't figure out how to remove old from console. Nothing I can tell to twist and remove. Thanks

Yeah, what do you do if your 2012 silverado lt is not made like that and it doesn't even have a mounting place for the release handle
