    Good video.
    A major challenge though with this product is that it ships with no instructions. There are then various videos on how to use it but no comprehensive “how to guide” in one place. In the modern era that is a major gap. In my case I had challenges with how to insert the SD card (eg which way up). Even figuring out the name of the app to download was something I found via a You Tube comment, of all things. There is a video on inserting the SD card too from five years ago but it is for an earlier iteration from the version I bought and I did not find it 100% clear.
    So, in my view the bottom line is that this is a good product but do not expect the ease of plug and play that you get with the likes of Apple. Guess you do get what you pay for and ease of instructions / operation is part of the mix with many higher priced product. If you have time to figure it all out, are happy asking Chilli Tech questions and enjoy that type of thing then go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, I advise caution. In my case, I am chalking it up as a learning experience.

      Yes, the instructions are quite basic and assume that users already know how to do certain things. I’m fairly tech savvy so didn’t have a problem, but I know that not everyone is. I am sometimes asked questions about cycle maintenance that I just assume everyone knows, so wouldn’t dream of mentioning it. However, many people don’t know, so dangerous to assume they do. I know from corresponding with Paul that he is planning to make some ‘How To’ videos but, in the meantime, better to buy the plug and play brands if unsure.

    Purchased a Mk 1 (with green light + spare battery) after watching your original video and it's been very satisfactory, thank you. I did experience the lack of response to emails regarding the purchase at the time but now I understand why. My query was regarding the "spare seals" that were supposed to be in the box. A set of seals were included in the box but the camera body had none fitted, so once I fitted them there were no spares as such, if that makes sense😬. Overall very pleased.

    That was a nice review and a clear explanation of FPS. The image stabilisation was very impressive.
    I've recently returned from a cycling holiday in the Dordogne and for the first time in 20 years cycling all over France I was appalled by the standard of driving. Close passes, not giving way on narrow, priority passing places and head on around a blind bends and excessive speed.
    I haven't heard if there is a police reporting system operational here, but if there is that camera would be very useful.
    Thanks for the video.

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a surprise as I mostly find drivers in France to be respectful of cyclists. But, of course, the explanation could be the large number of Brits living in and visiting the Dordogne.

    Thanks for a very informative video Roy. Accepting the value in close pass situations, on a broader point, how would you see the 4K as a camera for more general use as a 'normal' video camera - I hope that makes sense!

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@paulloring6307 it makes perfect sense. If the video examples you’ve seen are acceptable then it would work. However, the sound may be an issue if you wanted to record your surroundings. Although they’ve improved the sound, it will still pick up some road noise. The alternative is to record the sound separately, through a phone, for example, and add it in the edit.

    Thanks Roy, interesting stuff and great demo footage, especially of the IS. I suspected that that, plus the 60fps capability would indeed be the main pros of the 4k cam. Shame about the battery life but I guess you can't have everything. It still looks a good deal compared to the Cycliq. I like that a front cam will also pick up drivers coming out of side roads and also wonder how well a rear cam does show up how close a pass actually is.

    I’ve had the mk 1 and another which I can’t recall. There are some far better cycle cams out there, esp if you are wanting to record drivers on mobile’s. I would not recommend unless it is all you can afford, the main criticism of mine was between the low resolution, the slow frame rate and poor low light quality, it wasnt the best for winter commutes. My choice is the Ace-Pro 4K on helmet, cyclic on front and back!

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fortunately those issues have all been resolved with the new camera, for a third of the price of the ones you mention. Although I could afford these, I much prefer to spend less on something that does everything I need it to. As you would have seen, I did address the customer service issues so it’s a case of pay more if a guaranteed fast response is important. It usually is for me, but not at such a price premium.

In the meantime, here is the link to the Lincolnshire Police reporting site. www.lincs.police.uk/ro/report/rti/rti-beta-2.1/report-a-road-traffic-incident/. Theirs is one of the easiest to use. Officially, they require 2 minutes of video either side of the incident but no need to do that unless the incident was prolonged. I don’t usually make a long statement as the video tells the story. @RideWithRoy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s odd. I assume you’ve checked your settings and the lens is clean. All of my footage was filmed using a 128 GB Sandisk card, so a lower quality card may be to blame, although I doubt it. None of my footage was edited so it’s just as it came out of the camera. If you haven’t already done so, I would format the card through the app. If that doesn’t improve it I would contact Paul at Chilli Tech. allaboard@chilli-tech.com and tell him you’ve seen my results and commented here that your footage is not as good. I’m sure he will advise trying the things I’ve mentioned, so you will be ahead of him. It would also help if you can send him a clip of your footage, so he can see the issue. If you have any problem getting this resolved you are welcome to get back to me. It will also be helpful if you can let us know how it was resolved.

      @calistu67 once the camera is connected to the app, you will see ‘Camera Settings’ at the bottom of the home page. Click on that to see all of the settings. Near the bottom you will see ‘Format SD card’ so click that. I’m using the 4K camera so I’m not sure what settings you will have regarding video resolution in the MK2, but if you have options, make sure you use the highest resolution. You can also turn the sound off on this page, if you wish, and change the clip recording duration - I recommend 5 minutes. Hopefully that will help.
