I can relate to Keerthi as I also had an attitude where I tried to drive too quickly for my skill, copying the other road users with many years of experience. I was afraid to slow down before junctions as I felt pressured by the cars behind me who wouldn't need to slow down so much. This caused me to fail all my mock tests but thankfully just before my test I had this revelation and accepted it was ok to take my time, and I then passed my test first time.
Many new drivers have this problem, I usually work on it with them from day one as the sooner they learn they need to drive at the speed they can easily handle, the sooner they learn.
I have just done my 1st driving lesson ever! Never drove a car before. Halfway through, the instructor asked me if I had actually driven before because im at the level of somebody who has had 10 to 15 hours. The reason I think I got to this level of confidence is because I watch your videos 😊 thanks for making them 😊

I passed my test in August. Your videos helped so much, so honestly I can't thank you enough for making them, explaining everything in detail with graphics and animations and showing common mistakes and explaining WHY they're mistakes. It all really helped me brush up on everything before the test. I passed with only two minors and I'm damn happy to be out driving in my own car! I'll continue to watch your videos for sure as it's always good to keep learning and keep brushing up on these sorts of things. I'm also extremely glad I passed my test first time because I had to go all the way from Canterbury to bloody Bodmin in Cornwall to do my test. Reason being, my parents live nearby and it was the only test centre out of four I could reasonably get to with test cancellations available. And even more glad I passed as my journey down to Cornwall was by train and as usual, everything was delayed. What should have been a six hour trip turned out to be nine and a half hours... So, no more bloody trains for me, I am driving everywhere...!! I took the test in my dad's old 1995 Land Rover Discovery as I couldn't get an instructor's car so I'd imagine the examiner was a bit surprised about someone doing a test in a tank like that, hah. Once again, thanks a lot for the videos. Keep them coming!
For information, from UK Government site on driving with a non GB licence: "Passed your test in European Union or European Economic Area? Driving in Great Britain on a non-GB licence You can drive in Great Britain on your full, valid driving licence. You can exchange your EU licence for a GB licence if you wish to - for example, if you need a GB licence for your job. You do not have to retake your test to do so. Driving over the age of 70 If you were younger than 67 when you became a resident, you can drive on your EU licence until you’re 70. If you were 67 or older when you became a resident, you can drive on your EU licence for 3 years after that point. You can exchange your EU licence for a GB licence when you cannot drive on it anymore. You can drive in Great Britain for only 12 months if you got your EU licence by exchanging your non-EU licence." I think she's younger than 67, however, refresher driving lessons are useful.
Oh Keerthi, you've got it back to front! Fast when Slow is needed and vice versa. You've got the making of a good driver, progressive braking and planning is the key. Richard will help you, good luck with your driving.
Most people can exchange thier EU driving licence to a GB driving licence. If you have applied for a GB provisional driving licence you must surrender your EU licence. As a result you will need to pass the GB practical test if you wish to drive. I don't know why Keerthi applied for a GB provisional driving licence.
Why did she have to go through a UK driving test? Can't she exchange her Irish driving license for a UK one? Another thing is having driving lessons until one feels comfortable, but legally I don't think you need to do a test in the UK.

@@LA1898 Yes, and that's why you take driving lessons. That is actually commendable, but I don't see the reason to pass the driving test again. When the driving instructor tells you you drive well, that would be enough for me.
After watching a few of these mock tests I will say Colchester test routes give you a bit of everything, urban, country roads and dual carriageways. That's a good test. Some places in London you don't get above 20 so you might have a license but never have proven you can drive at any real pace.
My instructor tells me im ready, but then i go on to fail 3 times ! Watched your vides and they're very helpoful Examiners in debrief are voicing that my driving is quite good but i just act daft once and it messes it up ( last 2 exams fail with 1 serious and 2 minors ) Its disappointing that i keep failing when otherwise i drive alright. My 4th test is Tuesday i hope i pass

I don't think the first serious fault at 25:35 should've been one, as the black car hadn't already entered the roundabout and there was plenty of time for Keerthi to clear the roundabout. In fact, I don't see how it would've even been a minor fault. I'm curious to hear Richard's opinion on this.
Totally agree...the black car hadn't entered the roundabout...it was stationary and behind the line..only if it were moving and actually on the roundabout would I give way.
you have to give way to cars on the right whether they are already on the roundabout or not, unless they're a reasonable distance away from the roundabout yet

The black car was there before us and was waiting to see if we would give way. If they moved before waiting to see what we were doing and went round the roundabout we would have likely been their way.

Since she was on the roundabout before the black car had reached its give way line she had priority and the black car had to give way to her. There is a misperception, even among driving instructors, that "give priority to traffic approaching from your right" includes vehicles on junctions to the right that have yet to reach their give way lines. The underlying legislation to the Highway Code says to give way to traffic "circulating on the carriageway of the roundabout".
@@zydol1 There's no misconception. If you entering the junction could impede someone else navigating the junction, don't go. The driver could easily have impeded the black car and should not have emerged.
We give way to the right on mini roundabouts, she did not give way to the black car which was from her right. My judgement tells me she wasn't aware she needed to give way to this black car.
Once I pass my theory test, I would love to have done a route like this (I'm based in bromley london) I don't think it's easy, but I wish to do a route even a motorway lesson (I do automatic as it's easier than manual)
The best thing in the US is to drive a manual as the ultimate anti-theft device. Many funny videos of car thieves who can't make it out of the parking lot with a "stick shift"
I think her drive is okay but she'll do better looking to the end of the road because when looking as far ahead as is possible then your drive will be much straiter. Good luck.
I disagree with the assessment about the mini roundabout. For me, if someone signalled right there, and I was entering from the exit that she took, I would have to assume they might be u-turning and therefore give way
because it's not an exact straight ahead the rules are fuzzy. The position is close enough to straight ahead that 99% of drivers will assume no signal means straight ahead and right means going back round but the rules of the road are stupid. It's probably subjective to each examiner as well.
You could say that about any right signal on a mini roundabout. In Great Britain usually it's helpful to signal right if your exit is passed 12 O'clock on the sign.

The manufacturer may provide it in the car's manual and sales brochure. You can also get it measured on a rolling road.
