Foreigner Surprising Indians with Hindi (WARNING Smiles Galore!)

- Enjoy the smiles and surprise on locals' faces as I speak to them in their local language in India! And laugh at my Hindi too if you're a native Hindi speaker =D Jai Hind.
For everyone commenting on my use of "tu" (intimate form of "you"): In Haryana people use tu commonly, even for elders. So that's why I was practising with it in some sentences. Most of this was filmed in Haryana. Outside of Haryana its use is considered offensive. Haryanvi is a very informal dialect.

I have been going to India for holidays from Australia for 36 years. I love India it is my favourite country by far so diverse in everything from one state to another. i always get bored when i come back to Australia.
India is exciting, colourful. unpredictable and has a certain magnetism that keeps me going back.
Really?....good to hear that 🥰
Aah! This makes me really happy! I'm Indian but I grew up in Australia lol
Havent you gotten bored yet ? I mean, 36 yrssss??
@@arya-hp6dj I love India so much I can never get bored there. So much going on it is like being on another planet that I love. My late husband and I fell in love with the country on our first visit and he didn't want to go there originally. When he expired I took his ashes up in a hot air balloon over the Aravali ranges and also to Allahabad and Varanasi. It was his wish and mine will join him there when I pass. Speak another language, you are talking to their brains but if you speak their language, your talking to their hearts.
Do you even understand what you have said?
What?
What
InandOutTV I understood what he said. He’s tryna say that speak to people not in their language it’ll be difficult for them to pronounce the words by using their “brain” but if you speak in their language, they would feel comfortable and relaxed so they speak from their heart.
I think you meant to say: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart." It's a good quote by Nelson Mandela, but it'll do you good to get it right next time.

That's extremely diplomatic of you. Showing us that learning the country's language can help make us that much closer to our fellow humans. Peace starts with understanding :)
Spot on mate. Thank you
It's not the country's language, 40% of people speak it.
123x234 I’m sure it’s higher than 40%, if you are talking about areas like Punjabi where they speak punjabi or Gujarat where they speak Gujarati they still speak Hindi as well. Hindi is the country’s main language.
I P You'd be wrong to assume that places like Gujarat speak Hindi all over. It's mostly limited to urban areas while rural non-hindi-belt India definitely has little use for the language.
I'm basing my figure off of the 2001 census. Hindi may have a plurality but is in no way the country's main language.
Okay I don't know much about Gurjrat, but having family from Punjab they can speak Hindi and Punjabi both fluently.
Great. Really happy to see this video.

I'm gonna be that annoying person. Technically since he is from New Zealand, his "native" language should be Maori...
@@llllll1897 He is obviously not Maori though so no. His native language would be english.
@@llllll1897 Hi, we have 3 official languages in New Zealand and Te Reo Maori is one of them. It is the language of our indigenous population, the Maori.
Another offical language is english, which is the language of this persons heritage.
Our third official language is sign language, for our deaf and hard of hearing residents.
We don't have a 'native' language and that terminology is kind of rude (over here, generally). We would call Te Reo Maori the language of the people of the land - the tāngata whenua.
Fun fact - bird song is so beautiful in NZ it's called Te Reo irirangi o Aoteaora - the spiritual language of New Zealand :)

People respect and appreciate when you even say hello in their language. It means you are not ignorant and they will go extra to help you.
+Ashish Baral Bilkul sahi.
It works in pretty much every language and country apart from english speaking ones.
I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation without serious study but you can always at least learn "hello", "thank you", "please" and such. It shows you made an effort.
I find this an interesting comment. If you go to most of Europe,/Asia,/Africa, they expect you to speak some of their language, at least just a few words, or they will think you are ignorant as you say. And most people will agree with this. But if people don't speak one word of English in America or England and then we think they are "ignorant" then we're just called racist.
