    I have the Legion go. I had the steam deck but I wanted to play Dark Souls at full resolution and 60 fps high settings. And the Legion just does it better. Also I use it as my main PC. I am on it now. I do a lot more on this than I could do on the deck.

    I've had an steam deck lcd, and asus rog ally with 2 tb and a switch oled, and after meditade this like you do, I come to the conclusión that the switch oled its the best handheld to get for the battery life, the lightweight and slim formfactor, the exclusive games and ease to use. so I sold the other two and grab a new colleciton of physical switch games.( for the heavy games I got two pcs with an rtx 4080 and rx 7900xt) cheers

    beast video bro. i got me a steam deck 512gb that ive been using since back from the q2 days when it launched,. i picked up a Legion go last friday. i slapped a Dbrand skin & screen protector on it & 512gb Sd card & its a pretty sweet system no lie. i think im Good on the 2hand held devices aswell & dont see my self getting a ROG ally.
    i got a gaming laptop - acer nitro 5 witha gtx 1650, i5, 32gb ram. and i juggle between the 3 devices when able & am on my freetime. but all in all its been a good Experience this past week with the legion go. first game i fired up that i couldnt play on my steam deck was "New World" & it ran Great. im still figureing things out on it but got most things laid down. ive been binge watching youtube videos on it past few days.

    Got a Steam Deck OLED and Legion GO running Bazzite (SteamOS derivative). I mostly use the Legion Go when I'm home and can be plugged in. Makes a great laptop replacement too. For travel I use the OLED with its great battery life. Both screens are great in their own way, but I really love the size of the Legion Go's screen.

    Steam deck oled huh. I want to check one out.
    I bought a deck a year ago, barely used it. Linux initially turned me off. I'm starting to appreciate it more.
    I picked up a LEGO last week, huge fan. Having access to windows is pretty incred. Big fan of how tv shows / movies look on the screen. It's so immersive. Much more versatile for me than the deck.
    I respect what you're saying though, the steam deck has it's perks and it's a balanced system. Both are fire devices.
    Bro, next year when the next generation of handhelds come out, it's going to get wild. We are entering a stage where handheld hardware is becoming quite formidable and with software like lossless scaling and FSR, it's such a great time for hand held devices.
    Anyways thanks for sharing your opinion,
    cheers bro.

    I got a ROG Ally on release and returned it due to SD card issue. I then got a Steam deck OLED.
    The Steam deck is miles ahead of the competition it's not even close. And after that comes Asus which are in turn years ahead of the rest of the windows handhelds. There is really no other sensible device than the steam deck and the rog ally.

    • @DanielCampbell-y3q
      @DanielCampbell-y3q หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Based on what? The Ally has a basic design flaw which fries SD cards at best and melts the adapter at worst... The Steam Deck (while great) is only great if you're a power user or okay with only doing what it does out of the box. I'm making this stat up, but probably 95% of those that use it (even those that are technically inclined or that consider themselves "computer savvy") are not comfortable with Linux. I however feel that I am and have done lots with it... Thing is, that personally, I don't want to have to go through all that stuff just to get something kinda working only to have an update blow it up a week or two down the road. To say that those are the only two sensible devices is wrong on it's face. The LeGo is an awesome device. They all have their quirks, but to say that it's not right up there with the other two is just crazy talk. The screen alone makes it worth it, and if you use Lossless Scaling ($6 on steam) you can even play some games at what you would believe is native resolution. How do I say all this? Because I own all 3 devices. I didn't use to own one. I actually currently own all three.

    • @I3aMb00
      @I3aMb00 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s funny because the Ally X is miles ahead of the Steam Deck OLED. You cant even plug an eGPU on it plus the Ally X has the best battery life amongst the big 3. Not to mention the 24GB RAM is a huge plus.

    • @TheRubsi
      @TheRubsi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@I3aMb00 The problem with statements like that is that everything comes at a cost, which as to be considered in the overall evaluation. You simply do get a much better bang for your buck with the steam deck.
      But I will give some more arguments.
      - We are talking about handhelds, people are playing mostly in handheld. If you want to mostly dock the device then asus is clearly ahead of the steam deck.
      - The Steam deck uses a lot less power and is more silent. Even though the ally x "fixed" the battery life it will still eat a lot more juice, which can be a problem on the go (longer charging times, bigger power banks needed, etc.)
      - nobody is using an external gpu with these devices. literally nobody.
      - 24 gb of ram is useless for 90% of people. You simply do not run into any RAM issues with neither the steam deck, nor the original ally.
      - Rog ally x has no trackpads. For me this means many of my games are unplayable (for example civilization 6). It also makes the device a lot more inconvenient to use when you bring up the on screen keyboard.
      - Still does not offer an OLED screen despite all the upgrades
      - in many cases the increased performance over the steamdeck is tiny due to the higher resolution (that most people will not notice in handheld mode)

    • @I3aMb00
      @I3aMb00 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheRubsi Those are valid points, but are you really suggesting that the Steam Deck OLED has better overall capabilities than the ROG Ally X in terms for Battery Life? If your argument is based solely on having an OLED display and trackpads, then sure, the Steam Deck OLED may win in that niche. However, if we’re comparing features like storage options and upgrade potential, the Ally X pulls ahead.
      The Ally X supports a faster M.2 SSD, providing significantly better load times and performance compared to the Steam Deck's NVMe options. Plus, while many may not use an eGPU, the Ally X offers that flexibility, unlike the Steam Deck, which requires impractical adapters that compromise usability.
      Additionally, the ROG Ally X allows you to install Brazzite, which was previously exclusive to the Steam Deck. This feature enhances the gaming experience and opens up more options for users. The Ally X not only matches the Steam Deck in versatility but also expands upon it, providing gamers with a broader range of customization and optimization tools.
      So, when you consider features like superior storage options, upgrade potential, and the ability to run specialized software like Brazzite, the ROG Ally X emerges as a more well-rounded choice for serious gamers. It’s not just about having an OLED screen or trackpads; it’s about delivering a comprehensive gaming experience. But hell would the average consumer even give a crap? Not exactly they just want to play their games right? So either way both parties win, I think the Ally X is more fitting for the niche consumer who just wants the most performance based experience and versatility as possible. I can see the Steam Deck being more like iPhones and ROG Ally X as Samsung Phones.

    I think some of these issues are exaggerated but ig its your personal use case.
    For me I really don’t think battery is as big of a problem as people make it out to be. Ppl act like they are going to be going around their world with a handheld gaming pc when the reality is alot of ppl got it bc they can’t be bothered gaming in a chair on a desk and would much prefer to game in their bed.
    Thats the main reason I got my ally and its been amazing so far. Since the charging cable is long and comes out the top, it doesn’t cause an interference to me to the point I don’t even notice when its plugged in sometimes.
    If you want comfort on the ally, get a grip case and thumb grips, if you want better colours, edit the saturation and colour settings in amd software.
    I don’t really see the appeal in the steam deck when its ultimately just a weaker device performance wise and by a pretty significant margin and worse of all, its compatibility issues. Its just a limited sub par version of windows with sub par specs. But hey ho

    I think the legion go is for people who are looking for a quality all in one device. There are better gaming PCs and even better handhelds in my opinion but the legion go is more than just a handheld game. It's a full on computer that you can do some of everything with. So my advice if you're just looking for a good handheld gaming system I think there's a couple better options but if you had a need for more than just games which it sounds like you don't then I think the Legion is the best choice.

    to have the larger screen is a big deal for me, I had to make the same decision months ago but wound up selling off my ally in the end, it does alot of things better softwarewise than the Legion but that screen... and those removable controllers give it so much more utility. I have the Deck Oled still though its way better for travel with better battery and way more lighter and more comfortable and easier to travel with. the lower horsepower doesnt bother me as its still able to play most games very well.
    though id say in terms of color quality and contrast The Legion is a very close second against the Oled. The image quality on it is fantastic i put them next to each other all the time and the only thing the legion is lacking is in its blacks, but those colors come really close.

    Forgive the rant, but lenovo does not care about the Go. In fact, they care so little, that they can't even be bothered to update the screen drivers, forcing us to side load. Their software is just terrible. The only good thing about the go is the 8" screen. If lenovo put in half the effort that Asus put into the software on the ROG Ally it would have been a decent product. I already owned the original Ally (which I bought in 2023) but the small screen was a bit of a problem with some games where I simply could not read the small text. Since most of these youtubers were raving so much about the Go, I decided to buy one (about 3 months back) , but was shocked at how bad it was - to be honest, it feels like I've been lied to, especially because I can personally compare the go to the ROG Ally. If I had known how bad it was, I would not have tried to hold onto it trying to "make it work". I don't think I will ever buy a lenovo product again as they have shown what a terrible company they are. You can complain about Asus' repair practices in america, but at least they seem genuinely interested in creating a good handheld experience.
    As for now, I'm dual booting Bazzite on the legion go.
    I would have loved to get my hands on a Steam Deck OLED, but unfortunately they are not officially sold in my country. You can buy a grey import which is sold for almost twice the price that you would pay in america - to give you an idea, when I bought the original Ally Extreme edition, it was cheaper than the 64gb LCD steam deck and currently you can get the Ally X for about the same price as the 512Gb LCD steam deck (the 1TB OLED would set you back about $1338 which is simply ridiculous).
