Hello, I had ROG Ally and now I have Legion GO. People are trying to compare LEGO to Ally, Steam deck and maybe Claw, but the LEGO is just different type of device. The handhelds I mentioned are more like compact gaming machines meant for comfortable and long playing sessions, they are better for use while travelling. But LEGO is more like mix of handheld, tablet and laptop, it sacrifies some things to be more universal solution. The other handhelds may have better battery, they may be more comfortable to hold, they may have more stable UI, but with LEGO you just enjoy its great and bigger screen, you enjoy to use it as tablet for productivity and watching videos more. When compared to ROG Ally, it is heavier and Asus armory was better, Ally felt more like gaming handheld, but the screen is really nice, detaching controllers are nice to have and if you use LEGO home, where you can use charger, it is good choice. And to VRR, to be honest, current handlehds are just not made to play modern games on high FPS and if the game do not have enough FPS, even VRR cannot change this.

Performance is about the same as the z1 extreme version of the ally. They both have the z1 extreme actually. Now, the ROG Ally X, has the Z1 extreme chip but also has more ram, hence why it outperforms both.
Ive seen tests. Theyre pretty close. The legion go typically averages like 3 or 4 more fps and tbh it has great performance at 20 watts. And ps3 emulation is great. I went back through dbz, nba ballers, and i play skate 3 all the time.
Why are you not just playing at 800p? This does not defeat the purpose of a higher resolution display, you still have better clarity for other media and text whilst being able to downscale to 800p pixel perfectly.
It’s got some things going for it. I like the big screen and the detachable joycons. I also like how you can use it as a tablet. All handhelds are pretty much suffering from battery life and I think will improve next gen. I would get it over the steam deck but the rog ally it’s tough to say especially used you can get a great deal on the ally z1 extreme rn.
For me it is just about right. I leave a charger at work so I can use it when things are slow at work and even though i have a gaming laptop at home i find myself playing a lot of games on the legion go instead. That said, i do wish it had a little more power and more ram. As for the battery life argument, get a laptop...... although the legion go CAN play AAA games at medium settings at 1920x1200, it is a handheld first and foremost so playing at 1280x800 on low settings should be expected. I bought mine not long after launch not relay expecting much from it but have been very surprised by what it can do. i have completed forbidden west solely on the legion go witch it handled really well and have even attempted some VR gaming on it with mixed results. I think that if you came at this with realistic expectations then it is an excellent bit of kit, even if the screen is overkill for the APU
If they put an OLED in this, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Unfortunatly I just can't go from using an OLED phone, laptop, and tablet to using an IPS handheld. It is just too noticible.
for me. i enjoy the legion go cause it can be used as a tablet. without controllers. i used to bring my gaming laptop and my tablet. this combines both. legion go being just the right size for reading/watching youtube. though the speaker are meh at best ( i use headphones ) but of course it will not beat a gaming laptop in power.
The 1tb was on sale for $549 and picked up an open box for a little under 450 with all accessories and factory settings with a big scratch on the back but absolutely a huge steal when the 512 was still priced at 699 and the rog ally's were not on sale and more expensive
Still my favourite Windows gaming handheld yet. But since Asus has given 80Wh battery and 24GB RAM for Ally X, Lenovo should do the same for the next-gen Legion Go 2. There should also be a 32GB RAM option.
Best experience in handheld gaming as you dont have to play the games cuffed up like other consoles/handhelds, you have the freedom to split and put your hands wherever you want whilst playing with controllers detached😊
I bought this for 899 plus 200$ insurance at micro center midnight release(last Halloween). It works fine, battery is not great, games run smooth as silk. I wish I would’ve held off for the rog x. I had no idea it would release months later. Really saddens me. I have both a deck and a legion go… would be irresponsible of me to buy my third handheld. Thinking about waiting till whichever 2nd/3rd generation handheld comes next. If rog ally x had a bigger screen I’d definitely go with it, but it’s just too small for what I prefer. Once you get that big screen you never wanna go back… what a predicament
You should try out emulation or game streaming. I use moonlight to stream from my gaming pc and with both of these i use full resolution at the lowest power setting and get like 6 hours out of it.
I’m pretty sure it’s a 10/10 with a regular controller but I understand why you reviewed it this way I would never in my life play cod with wii remotes great vid
I purchased a lightly used one in uk for a good price and I really like it for portability playing games and I just plug it in when needed that doesn’t bother me so much I also use my gamepad sometimes. Very good device
…everything not playable on ayn odin 2 android 13 i play on my lenovo legion go windows 11…perfect combo…odin battery is ridiculous…good…my le go is set up with max charge 80% and last 75 min AAA gaming and charging takes just minutes…this is the payoff having a tv in your lap 😂…
If you plan to play new AAA games on legion go, you need to learn how to use AFMF2 and Losseles scaling, its a general problem with all handled pc. But if you learn how to use it right, you literally can play any game at 1200p easy, and this screen at 1200p its really amazing, better than 2k 27 monitor. And if you play some indie games like hades 2 at 144 fps and 1600p its a real eye candy. The only bad point for the handled against steam deck oled or asus rog X, is the battery. 1h is just not enough.
THIS IS A LIE. Stop pushing this nonsense. I play new AAA games using the official drivers, without scaling, and it works PERECLT FINE. You DO NOT need to sideload drivers or configure scaling on the Legion Go.
@@Jason_P Its not a lie. AFMF2 works pretty good, not as good as losseles x2(personal preference) but it works good, and you can sideload drivers literraly in 5 min. Oficial drivers are very outdated, they are feom may. Some games like silent hill 2 if i remember right, crash every 20 mon without new drivers. Very slow updates from lenovo is a fact. If you dont khnow how to activate afmf2/lossles or you didnt liked it (when it literraly double your fps) i think is your problem. I never used this peograms, but when i did, i started playing elden ring 20wat at stable 70 fps and 1200p resolution at a cost of some minor ghosting on the hair of your charcter, i really recomend everyone to at least try it.
they released a new amd driver for handheld. 24.10.1 but it just support black ops 6. Im going to update mines. i like to be on top of things (no diddy)
@@denissbersnykk4656 You say it "works pretty good", but there is nobody who can say it's worth all the trouble of sideloading and breaking the official driver and utility set. AFMF2 generates fake frames, so you really have no idea what the true FPS is for games that use it. You are acting like AFMF 2 simply raises framerates by magic, and that's not true. I have played MANY games on my Legion Go and they work perfectly well with the official driver and utility set. I run everything at 1200p native resolution and just use the RSR that is available with the official driver set.
144hz display, 8.8 inch display, 2k display, deattachable Joysticks, Better cooling system, better built quality, 16GB RAM Z1 Extreme chipset. These are only plus features. And still got everything that other devices are offering. And people still complain about this? FML XD

I quite like mine, I also have an Ally and a Steam Deck. I usually play mine hooked up to the TV, been getting back into modding Skyrim again on it. My Steam deck is still a great Indy machine too. The Ally is sitting in a dock in my office as a desktop currently. My poor Switch OLED is collecting dust.
The legion go screen size and detachable controllers is amazing! Main reasons why I got it. I need the version 2 to have more ram and better battery life. Maybe drop a low power Lunar Lake Intel Ultra 7-164u processor option for it as well.
Hey, I have a Rog z1x and I'm thinking about buying this one because of removable controllers. I play fortnite only, do you think it's a good idea to switch from rog to legion go?
My legion go it's at its prime right now the performance with amd afmf2 and windows 11 24h2 few tweaks here and there. I will say its the most satisfying thing ever owned after my old psp. It's no perfect but I love to play here
I've just bought a Legion Go and I'm very disappointed so far. My experience seems to be much worse than that experienced by others so I'm wondering if I have a defective model. I've tried games from many genres and I cannot get it to run anything without stuttering or worse. Most games run at less than 30 fps and are plagued by bugs.
Put it on performance mode them customize it from there. Mines at 20 watt then th other two are 5 below the starting spot. Also put it on 6gbvram or whatever in the bios setup.
i have only had my legion gog for about 6 months i think its a great device my only problem with it is that sometimes i have problems getting games to laod or sometimes it doesn't always run things that well. othewr than that i still like using it and think its an all round great device
Driver support is pretty much non-existent, I've had mine for around a year now, and i can count on one hand how many GPU drivers we've had, because of that we're missing important features, features that's a huge benefit for a handheld, no frame gen for instance, meanwhile the Ally are having zero issues. So, unfortunately, because of the poor driver support, i will not be buying the next gen, i will most likely move to the Ally 2.
The legion go def has its problems but not sure i'd trade it in for the ally or ally x. Simple fact that I can use a micro sd means the deck oled and legion go are better. If I play emulators or older games at 12x8 the battery will get around hour and 20 min at the min. The biggest detractor for the legion go to me is Lenovo itself, they are horrible at updating.
VRR is complete unnecessary on this. And windows is absolutely the best OS for a handheld. The Linux backend on the Steamdeck is what makes it a fucking turd and I have both steam decks.
Great take on the Lenovo Legion Go. Love the big screen but the resolution is useless for current double AA or triple AAA games 1080 is the maximum this handhelds are able to get on low to medium settings depending on the game. I’ll keep playing my SteamDeck Oled until valve release the Deck # 2 !!!
The resolution is its biggest selling point and I hope Lenovo keeps it the same on the 2nd generation go . There are software tricks such as integer scaling and RSR to upscale games to 1600p with little to no performance hit . Lenovo nailed it with the screen n its resolution
i love 2560x1600p 165hz cause i use it as tablet. id only go 1080p or 1200p if it has 265hz refresh rates. id rather have 1600p than need it when i dont have it.

Why are you not just playing at 800p? This does not defeat the purpose of a higher resolution display, you still have better clarity for other media and text whilst being able to downscale to 800p pixel perfectly.
I sold every other handheld I had (rog and steam deck and nintendo switch) and I am using the lebovo now for 7 months exklusive.
The 1tb version is on sale right now for 599 directly from Lenovo.
499 for 512 on Amazon and target
@@YvngSamaelI don’t see this at all
@@cameronduplechin3588 $499 for the 512gb at bestbuy
$549 for the 1tb version at BestBuy right now
@deth.hooligan did you get it?
Still the best emulation system out there. 4:3 retro games look phenomenal.
I think it’s one of the best for sure! Would be PERFECT if it was OLED tho just bc of the backlight bleed
@@KillerCam1020 True. The IPS glow IS horrible...
Agreed i emulate on mine alot and get about 6 hours out of it.
Wouldn't be any better than the rog ally and the x model battery makes it the best
Well it the one I own and still love it especially after swaping the SSD and installing Bazzite OS on it.
You can fix the audio with the settings and it sounds great especially with fx sound added
Yes that’s what I mean by third party software! Exactly that
If they put an OLED in this, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Unfortunatly I just can't go from using an OLED phone, laptop, and tablet to using an IPS handheld. It is just too noticible.
i hear you tbh
You gave a steam deck too? I have an oled but kind of want the legion too for the bigger screen and being a handheld lover.
100% the best pc handheld
Weight for legion go seems to be a big issue, but I bought a Gibitlee controller connector so I'll be able to take off the controller to use it.
I got one in Jan. it’s been brilliant. I play it more than my ps5, it’s so convenient
for me. i enjoy the legion go cause it can be used as a tablet. without controllers. i used to bring my gaming laptop and my tablet. this combines both. legion go being just the right size for reading/watching youtube. though the speaker are meh at best ( i use headphones ) but of course it will not beat a gaming laptop in power.
The 1tb was on sale for $549 and picked up an open box for a little under 450 with all accessories and factory settings with a big scratch on the back but absolutely a huge steal when the 512 was still priced at 699 and the rog ally's were not on sale and more expensive
Yes!! Best buy 1tb $550 and 512gb $500 and I'm torn if I want to go with SD oled 1tb for $600 instead with better ergonomics and ease of use
@ddkim619 in my opinion buy the one that best fits your game library
If you wanna use 144hz 1600p use ge force now ultimate
Still my favourite Windows gaming handheld yet. But since Asus has given 80Wh battery and 24GB RAM for Ally X, Lenovo should do the same for the next-gen Legion Go 2. There should also be a 32GB RAM option.
Best experience in handheld gaming as you dont have to play the games cuffed up like other consoles/handhelds, you have the freedom to split and put your hands wherever you want whilst playing with controllers detached😊
So I bought a legion go and sold my ally. Why? Usb4 with an egpu (3080 ti) makes sense a beast
Just bought Legion Go. They are less than 300 used.
I personally think its the best handheld rn. Just use lossless scaling. I do agree battery life needs to be improved but for raw power, it sweeps
I’m pretty sure it’s a 10/10 with a regular controller but I understand why you reviewed it this way I would never in my life play cod with wii remotes great vid
every review that i’ve seen says the steam deck runs the AAA games awfully, so i think i’ll get a legion go instead
you just have to turn off the Omni Speaker in the Realtek Audio Console then, in the equalizer it depends on your hearing preference
Solid Review
In case of handhelds, specs aren't everything
I purchased a lightly used one in uk for a good price and I really like it for portability playing games and I just plug it in when needed that doesn’t bother me so much I also use my gamepad sometimes. Very good device
…everything not playable on ayn odin 2 android 13 i play on my lenovo legion go windows 11…perfect combo…odin battery is ridiculous…good…my le go is set up with max charge 80% and last 75 min AAA gaming and charging takes just minutes…this is the payoff having a tv in your lap 😂…
I bough 1tb legion go for 549 I am replacing my old pc with a i7 9700x gen and gtx1080 might run a egpu with the 1080
Right now $399 on Amazon!
I'm tempted, i am here for that same reason
@@Joker-yu5kpI've owned one and at $400 it's absolutely worth it. I might get one myself.
Id be all over it at 399. Its 499 😮💨
@lasereyes7349 last night, on Amazon it was 399 for a good couple hours. I bought it.
I have one. Best thing I can say is… get an ally x. 900 for a 2TB on Best Buy. Brilliant buy. Wish I would’ve held off till the x came out
If you plan to play new AAA games on legion go, you need to learn how to use AFMF2 and Losseles scaling, its a general problem with all handled pc. 1h is just not enough.
battery kinda sucks but i plug and play. if i go outside, ill just bring the charger and a powerbank
FML XD
Hello nice video thank you. Sorry but you spoke a little bit too fast for me. What glasses are you using -> viture pro xr glasses, this one ? And are you happy with them ? What is pro and cons. Greetings from switzerland 😂 and thanks in advance for your help
Can you play your owned xbox games on this
Only if they support “Xbox Play Anywhere” you can see all the details here: www.xbox.com/en-US/games/xbox-play-anywhere
An intel chip would be great!
If you want horrible battery life, support, and performance...
Hey, I have a Rog z1x and I'm thinking about buying this one because of removable controllers. I play fortnite only, do you think it's a good idea to switch from rog to legion go?
512 model is 472 bucks on Amazon now.
Its on black friday sale 1tb for 550 and i think im going to pull the trigger
It’s on cyber Monday sale 512 for 449 you should have hold the trigger
@herotoall123 no I got an open package for 500 and it's 1tb has the same warranty and not a scratch on it
@herotoall123 it's at least 50 bucks to get another 500gb sd card
Sadly this costs like 2 to 3 times more than Rog ally in my country.
That is really unfortunate :/ the ally is still a great handheld tho!
just bought one new for $499, looking forward to comparing it to my Steam... Bazzite install will be needed.
Just putting it on performance will get it to work though.
Depending on certain games you might have to press the options button on legion go or in game settings and put the resolution or whatever down lower.
I play red dead, cyberpunk, wukong, etc. Fine on it and those games are quite demanding.
i have only had my legion gog for about 6 months i think its a great device my only problem with it is that sometimes i have problems getting games to laod or sometimes it doesn't always run things that well. othewr than that i still like using it and think its an all round great device
0:25 You know what else is massive?
Driver support is pretty much non-existent, I've had mine for around a year now, and i can count on one hand how many GPU drivers we've had, because of that we're missing important features, features that's a huge benefit for a handheld, no frame gen for instance, meanwhile the Ally are having zero issues. So, unfortunately, because of the poor driver support, i will not be buying the next gen, i will most likely move to the Ally 2.
i wouldnt really say you cant play games at that resolution, just cant really play any new games at that resolution
Hopefully go 2 is better sound and battery. If not, then rog ally 2 is on my next buy.
ive tried this thing twice so far, the Lenovo UI was absolute trash. I just bought it again to see if it works better.
idk how these people only getting 30-20fps… im playing cyberpunk right now on 1200p with 80-100 fps…. ir ur driver 780m with afmf2????
The legion go def has its problems but not sure i'd trade it in for the ally or ally x. Simple fact that I can use a micro sd means the deck oled and legion go are better. If I play emulators or older games at 12x8 the battery will get around hour and 20 min at the min. The biggest detractor for the legion go to me is Lenovo itself, they are horrible at updating.
Best machine ever.
You got AI eyes or something? It's distracting lol
honestly connect your airpods while out traveling
It's really cool.. But I never actually GO anywhere... And my xbox is cheaper
VRR is complete unnecessary on this.
And windows is absolutely the best OS for a handheld. The Linux backend on the Steamdeck is what makes it a fucking turd and I have both steam decks.
i like mine but Lenovo needs to talk to AMD on getting driver updates faster. they take to long to come
Hi.Both sticks RGB lights still working, you are lucky!!!!
Oh no yours had issues? 😳
ROG Ally X is the best handheld until Steam Deck 2 comes out. Great video review young man.
No VRR and bad speaker kills it for me unfortunately.
$499 brand new. That’s great value.
Whos watching this on their Lenovo legion go?

If only it was cheaper.... hence, I would still stick with my SD OLED
Yep still not in impulse buy territory but it’s getting close. Let’s see what Black Friday brings us 🤔
@@KillerCam1020 yeah, hopefully it's a good deal
