    Fantastic video. There is no perfect dash cam and I would love to combine features from each to make the perfect one. Take the Viofo A229 Pro Image Quality, take the Thinkware U3000 Radar Parking Mode, Take Blackvues DR970X Plus form factor and more importantly their Cloud Features (with the U3000 4K upload to cloud quality) and I would have my near perfect system :)
    One suggestion. Since they all have different files sizes during the download test, I would divide the file size by the time to see which has the best download rate to make it all equal.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes i wish there was one that had all the features but still. What next heat issues? Or how big will it be?
      Best download rate is still Vueroid #1, viofo #2, thinkware #3, Blackvue #4 if you want to go by that.
      At end of the day our customers tend to care how long it takes to download a video to their phone. Thinkware will take same time whether video is 1 second long or 30 seconds or 1 minute. Which is weird but that is how their software works.
      I will verify if Viofo works same way

    Keep up the good work. I got the A139 pro because I was looking for the best image quality and license plate readability with only front recording and I hope hope they keep the firmware updates at the same standard as the A229 pro.
    I do hope they make firmware updating much easier for future dashcams though, because playing with sd cards for that is just 2010 and not 2024.

    More A229 PROs:
    1) One can add Interior Camera later if bought 2CH.
    2) CPL filter exists for Front & Rear.
    3) DashCam can be connected directly to Mobile using C type to C type Cable for faster data copying and firmware upgrade.

    Very good video. I consider that starting from 2023 people should understand that there are two types of dashcams: with HDR and without HDR. In 2024 I would not buy a dashcam without HDR.
    I know from many years that the people are paying more money on a dashcam because of night footage. During day there are no major difference between a cheap dashcam (for example Viofo A119) and an expensive dashcam like Blackvue or Thinkware.
    The power of HDR is at night and for reading the registration plates and in this video you didn't covered this.
    I hope in the future video you will make a car license plates legibility comparison and the best for all people is to wait for the Viofo telephoto camera. Also you can compare a normal lens with a telephoto lens but the most important thing is to show the power of the HDR because without HDR even a telephoto lens will not capture license plates at night.
    In this video was no evidence about HDR superiority and people can think that HDR is just a marketing logo good for nothing but to ask for more money. No, HDR is one of the best achievements in dashcam history.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      License plates are covered in this video. We did not cover license plates at night in this video. Mainly because we had reshot the video 3 times because the blackvue manual recording feature was acting up so it was not locking videos while driving for us to easily find and get when back in the office. License plates is also very time consuming when comes to video editing. We have future videos coming up where we will include. HDR is shown in many of our videos and explained in many of our videos.
      Stating no evidence of HDR superiority is not a proper statement. The tunnel test alone shows HDR superiority, driving at night their HDR examples.
      If you are looking for this type of video th-cam.com/video/mUCFKHQ_ims/w-d-xo.html where we go over video examples. We will be doing a little more of this in the future.
      But there are many dashcams with HDR that are low quality. HDR does not make a dash camera good. Integrating HDR correctly will give good video quality, at night, during the day in sunlight, driving through a tunnel and how quick it adapts going in and coming out. That is true HDR. most people think it is only driving for night and that is a common misunderstanding.
      By the way i subscribed I will be watching your video soon.

      @BDPFilms 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@SafeDriveSolutions Excellent response, Ben. Well thought out and informative. I agree with you, it is definitely more how the manufacturer implements the HDR functionality on the camera than if the camera just has it or not that will depend on how good the video quality will be. I have an old Pruveeo C2 dash cam (circa 2017-2018) that supposedly has HDR (or, more accurately, I believe WDR...) and I have that feature on all the time. It shoots pretty decent footage during the day (at 1080p 60fps), but it can't record worth anything at night! I can barely make out the road directly in front of my car that the headlights illuminate and reflections from road signs, but that's about it. (And the road signs are so overdeveloped that you can't read what they say anyways, they just show up as bright blobs of light on the side of the road.)

    Hello,
    Great canadian channel.
    I am waiting for a comparison between the Vantrue N5 (and N4 Pro) and the Viofo A229 Pro.
    I feel like these would/ should be the best based on hardware.
    It’s my understanding that the Viofo maintains the 4K resolution while in 3 channel mode, and that the Vantrue loses its resolution in more than 1 channel mode.
    I think the Viofo has HDR on the front and rear too, so I anticipate the Viofo may be better than the Vantrue series, despite the 4 channel set up with the N5.
    Can you please clarify on camera resolution vs sensor resolution?
    I highly value being able to snag license plates.
    Bonus capability is parking mode, capturing a hit and run, and not killing my battery.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would go with Viofo A229 Pro over either of those 2 units. For many reasons. 1. Viofo has 2 K STARVIS 2 rear camera. Vantrue has 1080p rear. 2. Viofo has timer on parking mode and Vantrue does not. 3. There is more flexibility with locating the interior camera on Viofo A229 Pro as it is not attached to main unit. If you want parking mode on any of these units I would get a battery pack
      Vantrue N4 Pro does not lose resolution when going from 1,2, or 3 channel mode. The N5 I am not sure. Overall Vantrue is a good camera but still has a few improvements to make to catch up to Viofo.

    I currently have an older Pruveeo C2 dash cam (circa 2017-2018) that I have been using in my car. It shoots pretty decent footage during the day (at 1080p 60fps), but it can't record worth anything at night! I can barely make out the road directly in front of my car that the headlights illuminate and reflections from road signs, but that's about it. (And the road signs are so overdeveloped that you can't read what they say anyways, they just show up as bright blobs of light on the side of the road.) The suction cup windshield mount finally completely broke on my Pruveeo dash cam, so now I'm in the market for a new dash cam. (And hopefully one that can be hardwired into the car, since I've had issues with the cigarette lighter plug on my old Pruveeo dash cam. If you hit a big bump or pothole in the road, sometimes it causes the cigarette lighter plug to momentarily lose power, which annoyingly immediately shuts off the dash camera and causes it to reboot! So, you would lose about 15-20 seconds of recording while the dash cam restarted and started recording again.) Anyways, I know dash cameras have come a LONG way in the past 6-7 years since I bought my Pruveeo dash cam, but I'm still looking for the BEST image quality I can find from a dash cam both during the day and at night.
    Honestly, the 4K video quality seems almost more like a gimmick than anything as even recording videos on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra phone, I can barely see ANY difference in the video quality recording in 4K vs 1080p mode! I have watched 4K videos side by side with 1080p videos on both my 27" LG Ultragear 2K 144Hz IPS gaming monitors and on my LG 65" IPS 4K smart TV and there is a negligible difference in the video quality between them. (And to view the 1080p video on a 2K monitor or 4K TV, it is upsampling the video and it's still not really distorting or pixelating the image at all...) About the ONLY difference is the 4K video has a MUCH larger file size, obviously, so you can record much less video footage per GB on a memory card compared to 1080p. So, I usually record videos in 1080p at 60fps to get silky smooth videos with a relatively low file size compared with recording 4K videos at only 30fps.
    If anything, I think having a 4K (or even 8K) camera may just have a much higher Megapixel image sensor so it records MUCH higher quality video than the older 1080p cameras did, so if you have a newer 4K camera and record it in 1080p format instead of 4K, I think the 1080p video will come out looking as good as the 4K video with just a much smaller file size! The ONLY real difference you might notice is if you try to zoom way in on a certain part of the video to see fine details, obviously the 4K video will look better and be less pixelated than the 1080p video will be, just because there is 4 times as much pixel information saved in each frame in the 4K video compared to the 1080p video.
    From watching your video as well as several other comparison videos on TH-cam that I have found, I seem to be leaning more towards either the Viofo A229 Pro or the Thinkware U3000. Honestly though, sometimes the Blackvue video footage looks better during the day, but then it looks like it does a terrible job recording at night in low light. The same thing with the new Vueroid camera. I honestly thought that all around, the Vueroid seemed to have the best looking video during the day and even in the tunnel test, the white balance seemed the best and the video footage looked the most natural. The video from the other 3 cameras looked much more yellow during the tunnel test, especially when you first drove into the tunnel. By the time you were driving out of the tunnel, the Viofo, Thinkware, and Blackvue cameras finally kind of "caught up" to the Vueroid and the video footage looked less yellow and was a bit more natural looking. However, again, I think the Vueroid kind of fell on its face when shooting nighttime footage. Also, the rear camera is only 1080p and it is using an older Sony sensor, so the rear camera footage looks terrible!
    So, unless there are any newer models that have come out that are significantly better by any of these manufacturers (or any other manufacturers that you haven't reviewed yet...), I still think that I'm leaning more towards the Thinkware U3000, but the Viofo A229 Pro is still a VERY close second based on its overall video quality and some of its features. But I also really like the radar parking mode of the Thinkware U3000, even if it would probably be going off all the time and constantly recording videos for no reason if you park in a busy parking garage or on a busy street. I think the fastest impact detection and recording functionality would actually be the best for long-term parking security. Either way, it seems that except for quick trips to the store, you would need a pretty sizeable external battery backup for the dash cam if you wanted to use the dash cam as a parking security system for when you are parked somewhere all day long.

      as for U3000 having the lower parking mode draw in the radar mode, that's great, but like you said, in a busy parking lot it's going to be constantly triggered, so the current draw is going to be a lot more than the 14mA spec. I love your dedication for the dashcam reviews. Have been watching hours of your video because I just got my first car ever and want to have a decent dashcam. I have to do street parking frequently and my area is not really safe. The driveway where I will be parking most of the time has cameras so I will be using the energy saving mode, but when I take my car around and park, that's when I need the Parking mode the most. I'm thinking of the Vueroid D21 4k after this video because it has the best Energy Saving Mode. I was trying to find your review video for this one specifically to see how long it would be working without draining my car battery but I don't think you have one. Do you think I will need a Battery Packet for this dashcam since I will only be taking my car out about 2 to 3 times a week?

    • @SafeDriveSolutions
      @SafeDriveSolutions  หลายเดือนก่อน

      So in context you should not need a battery pack for using low power mode on the Vueroid. It only draws 2ma of current. Keep in mind everything depends on your battery still being in good condition. So in context I find most Viofo A229 pro will last 1 to 3 hours. so lets break this down 1 hour of a Viofo A229 Pro is approx 360ma of current in parking mode for 1 hour of recording. That means the Vueroid should last 180 times longer based on comparison. 360ma / 2ma = 180. 180 hours / 24 hours in a day 7.5 days. All based on your battery being in good condition. If you buy a used vehicle and the battery is 10 years old. It probably needs to be changed on the vehicle.

    Very, Very nice review. As you say, ones choice is driven by lifestyle, and frankly...the Vueroid is tops out of these four offerings. I always use a front camera for the rear, and as I mentioned to you previously, I extend the wiring with 18-3 from the battery side of the HK3 / 4 module so as to have the highest battery voltage possible at the rear of the Outback, which is where the module is. On these reviews, I stop the play quite often to compare the cameras. The Vueroid and Viofo are neck in neck with the Vueroid giving the best over all accuracy for the tunnel and most night scenes. Crossing the bridge and the Vueroid does a better job of showing the bridge cables, curvature, etc. Viofo is second on those images.
    I generally care less about parking mode. Face it, leave your car at the airport for two weeks and parking mode is useless after the first day. Parking mode is great for city life, parking on streets and parking lots for short periods of time but, it ends there. So, I put less emphasis on parking mode. Same for rear camera, a Starvis 2 is better for a rear camera but only if the full potential of the Starvis 2 is met. Unfortunately, that is not the case with Viofo and others.
    The Vueroid D21 will very likely be my next purchase but I will wait to see if they do firmware updates to increase parking mode frame rate. Not that I use PM religiously but, 1 fps is just too low and essentially useless, in my view.
    Thank you for the effort you put into these comparisons, your honesty in these comparisons is welcomed.

I am still using a very reliable iPhone 7+ with ios 13.4.1 so I would need to make sure the Vuroid app would work for my phone.
      When I stop and start your comparison vid I take notice of screen placement for the cameras and adjust my evaluation based on that location, light refraction, screen, etc. and frankly, I will place the front camera D21 on par with the A229 Pro. The back camera is on par with other cameras of that resolution but in my case, I would put the main D21 on the rear screen also.

    Ben, understand you cannot review ALL dashcams in a single vid, but the omission of the Vantrue N4 Pro is clearly an oversight. As you pointed out in a previous vid, the 5-6 sec. delay on impact in Parking Mode is a weakness, agreed. However this unit's night clarity if second to none, and with the proper hard wire kit the parking mode Voltage/Timer can be set to prevent battery drain. So many other options as well including a nice sharp viewing screen which one can turn off if you find it distracting. But nice to have as an option. Sorry but any review of the Best 4K dashcams should include the N4 Pro to be an honest review. Otherwise you are omitting a great dashcam for consideration by your viewers. Other than the parking mode recording delay, what other issues do you have with the N4 Pro? However you do a great job in your review detail. And, .. Go Leafs!

      N4 pro
      - current draw
      -only available in 3 channel mode
      -low battery protection is not good enough for newer vehicles. Have seen lots of customers buy it and have their battery die due to how their parking mode works. Hence why we don’t carry Vantrue.
      -The unit is big and many people pointed out to me on last video we did with it they could not believe I did not point out how big it is.
      -rear camera overheats and gives blurry image with hdr
      -parking mode is irrelevant without a battery pack
      -6 second impact detection
      - when you use parking mode it says in high heat please use impact detection. Same thing red tiger says. But 6 seconds after makes it a dash camera that needs improvements
      - i do feel it is a great UBER dash cam. With great 4k video quality while driving.
      - lastly when Vantrue asked me to review a different product in October. They asked me to buy it off Amazon. When I give it a 5 star review on Amazon they will send me money in return. Huge mistake. We dont do fake reviews and my trust for the company went to almost zero

      Battery saving is built into cord. You can set the voltage in the cord. Except it wont let you on 70mai and it is typically below 12 volts on the unit

    At 16:35 did you decide that the thinkware was no longer a good product so you picked up a Vantrue N4 Pro? This really stands out.
    Also, your download comparison wasn't a good/accurate representation of capability. The Vueroid had the highest throughput at 13.64 MB/s, the Viofo second at 9.78 MB/s, Thinkware in third with 8.56 MB/s and Blackvue in last with 5.8 MB/s.

      No I knew people were going to ask where was Vantrue N4 Pro. So I included it in video comparison footage. I have had a lot of videos on Thinkware night capability over the last 9 months. I even have video of U3000 vs these units as well just not in this video.
      I feel the download comparison was great which I already mentioned in comments.
      Thinkware will take same amount of time whether the file is 1 second long or 30 seconds or a minute. That is how their software works.
      What most customers care about is time it takes to download a video file.
      I will be testing if there is any improvements when changing video on Viofo from maximum to normal.

    How does the Vueroid attach to the windshield? I am confused by the design of how it would attach, do you happen to have a video or photos?

    You failed to mention the file sizes for the download speed that were different for each camera! The last 2 cameras had file sizes 3 times that of the first. So that must mean that the Vueroid D21 didn't record that much video info. Sounds potato to me!

    Look at the front view of the BlackVue around 4:15-14:20 On other 3 dashcams there is an airplane flying from the right to the left above the bridge but that airplane is not visible in anyway on the Blackvue images. !!!! What the heck is their filtering/image processing mode?

    • @SafeDriveSolutions

      Now the Viofo A229 Pro and Blackvue were about 4-6 inches over on right side of windshield. So it looks like it just did not catch it.

    The download speed test was in no way an equal test. Your file sizes for the D21 4K and U3000 were less than half the file sizes for the other two. Absolutely they would download faster. That's a no brainer. The question is why the files sizes are different. if it was the same drive recording for all four, then some manipulation was done to the video file by both the D21 and U3000 to reduce the file size. Was it compressed by the cam? Was the resolution cut down? What format was each cam video file? Was this only 1 dash cam say front only or a combination of multiple dash cams front, rear, internal views etc for the Viofo and Blackvue cams. It's kind of misleading to not specify your parameters or make absolute sure you have the same settings on all four cams brands you are testing. It means nothing to test download speed when the files sizes are not nearly identical.

      @SafeDriveSolutions  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you get a battery pack it opens up all thge dash cameras to the potential of 24 hours recording. If you dont want a battery pack then the U3000 and Vueroid D21 4K are only good options due to their low current draw options.
