I mean no disrespect but Tamil language is restricted to tamilnadu only and when it comes to Hindi its spoken and more or less understood in many states that why the emphasis to learn Hindi so that one will be able to communicate freely e.g when you begin Tamil, can speak English, Tamil maybe kannada but if you also know hindi you will have better edge if you ever interact with someone who speaks hindi, vice versa if a person from Delhi can't speak Tamil he will not have that edge as you had so it's better to learn, also its a matter of choice if you don't want to learn your wish nobody can /should force to learn
@venkat if you go to Japan they emphasis learning japanese , in France they emphasis on French , in Germany they emphasis on German language and they are proud about it. I am bengali and bengala language is my pride but learning Hindi is also practical and sensible thing to do and yes it unites people.

Yeah like, what kind of diversity if we impose a language of a particular area on the whole country just because of a majority :/ These points which are governments try to prove are useless. And even if we try to impose a language, so, India will definitely perish. Because, with a certain language, a certain culture comes, so imposition of language becomes imposition of a culture too, and in that case, all cultures will be finished. I am from UP and I totally respect the fact of all other states, cause it is fully valid. But our government, especially the all-we-know ministers who didn't even graduated from their schools are imposing a culture on others😆. And even if we leave that aside, they don't even have common sense. Almost all our ministers are mindless creatures trying to prove an invalid point on a severe decision and they don't even know what the main thing is about. So, as a land of diversity, our nation should not become Hindustan it should become Bharat. And, all languages are our national languages, because the unity is in the diversity, and, we should be proud that the most successful and long lasting empires and the oldest languages originated in our country. If the imposition of Hindi stops, our country will definitely achieve and if people want they themselves can learn Hindi, afterall what kind of democracy does not offer a Right to Opt for something? I am a Telugu-Tamilian and as much as my mother tongue is Telugu, I was born in border areas of TN and AP and I consider myself Tamilian.
I don’t want anyone telling Tamilians what they should know or not know. I don’t want federal $$ used to promote ANY language. I want Tamilians to decide what they will or want to learn. We want people who speak Bengali to worry about their language in their state and Hindi speaking people to worry about Hindi in their states. So will Telugu people and so will Gujaratis or so will Assamese.
Tamilians want to be left alone. No one should tell us what to do and tell us anything.
Those Hindi speaking people who are eager for South Indians to know Hindi, I encourage them to learn one of the Dravidian languages (ideally Tamil) and close this chapter.

She formed an army and sought an alliance with her brother Raja Gopala Nayakar with the aim of attacking the British, whom she did successfully fight in 1780. *When Velu Nachiyar found the place where the British stored their ammunition, she arranged a suicide attack: a faithful follower, Kuyili, doused herself in oil, set herself alight and walked into the storehouse* Velu Nachiyar formed a woman's army named "udaiyaal" in honour of her adopted daughter, Udaiyaal, who died detonating a British arsenal. She was one of the few rulers who regained her kingdom, and ruled it for ten more years.1790, The throne was inherited by her daughter Vellacci Thevar

Over the years, our existing knowledge in Metal making, Music, Medicine and Surgery and Astronomy were written in Sanskrit and called them four Rig, Sama , Artherva and Yasur Vedas.
There is always great effort to destroy old Tamils books and their languages. All the archeological researches have been blocked. This happening in India for a long time.
