There are many things that Kannadigas and Tamils don't agree on. But, when it comes to the right to cherish and celebrate ones' own mother tongue, we stand with you my dear Kannadiga brothers.
@Ayush Chaturvedi You're a very rare north Indian to find my man & your level of understanding is much more than most of your fellow people & I've never seen a north indian say something like that. We always should respect indigenous cultures.
@Ayush Chaturvedi unexpected comment from a Hindi speaker. Usually North Indians start with cuss words. You understand the feeling in South. But you don't have to be ashamed of your language. Hindi and English have now become the language of India. Try to learn some southern language if you like. Please visit South if possible. Damn. So much positivity from you

This Hindi vs other languages argument is so stupid , no one is imposing anything..... I have been to kerela & TN and nobody there learns Hindi..................... and in the comment section I saw many arrogant South Indians talking about how poor and uneducated North Indians in my state my immigrants from Bihar comes but we don't make fun of them.............. I don't why we are arguing about it, if this method (English link language) is working then why to change it?
The Anchor himself was relentlessly batting for Hindi. with every one in the discussion panel opposed Hindi , he half heartedly closed the discussion. Racism galore.
This Anchor was no different from others with a preconceived notion of superiority. Its just that he was outnumbered. Please , when will these mainstream television anchors learn to show better body language and demeanour when dealing with Non Hindi panellists. I have always been referred to as "Madrasi" and asked whether I spoke "south indian" ...!!!!!pathetic..! As though we are all Padosan stereotypes.......
I'm a tuluva, also a kannadiga, most importantly an Indian. I do speak hindi passably but Hindi was never my mother tongue and never will be. There's absolutely no point in imposing Hindi on us. Karnataka itself is linguistically very diverse,we speak Kannada,Tulu and konkani. Kannada further has over 10 dialects. We are unique nation because we have been able to embrace such diversity and co-exist with each other. Imposition will only lead to further division,so be sensible fellas...!!!
Aditya Jena because it's a global common tongue. The entire corporate world uses it, leading to better job prospects. If you are asking us to learn Hindi rather than speaking a foreign tongue. Then I'd be happy to see Kannada as my national language,it's an Indian language as well you see.
Mr. Akansh..where u been years back when hindi posters, slogans and used frequently in the capital..?Just because some fringe group polarises the opinion so u felt sudden a proud kannadiga...no one will or can impose the language here or anywhere in any nation ..its just about acceptance....hindi is our always national language..dont go with wikepedia..i agree its writtten as official language in our constitution because tamilnadu didn't accept dis..as they have some issue with dis....so supreme court given some timeframe to change the opinion of TN..but it end up no change....do u think indian politicians made conspiracy in pre independence era that impose hindi in all state..But rage started in 2000s ...how ?? where u been bro till dis time ? its just politics to win elections and show how ur ruling gov care about locals and their jobs...and wants to become saviour..!! now its up to u how u react it !
Radhika...no one is imposing...this issue raised by whom...?? its u ...u dont want hindi ...hindi ppl never say...dat we dont want kannada..or other languages....u were reluctant to adapt...and that is the reason ppl coming from different parts of country and adapting environment..here.....though let me correct u ,i m not the flag bearer for the hindi language...just feel pity for guys who has no option but to learn new language whenever they go new state and new environment...!!
The more you impose hindi..the more you near to break this country mind it..language is emotion..so dnt play with this fire..otherwise wise whole country would be burned..
Yes bro for every one there mother tongue is is everything ....we south Indians have self respect over our language ..but there people put imposition on us...
Being a marathi guy I totally agree with our south indian brothers I respect my language marathi and im damn proud of being an indian and born in marathi family I am blessed to be a part of such a rich and historic community
+Suyog Parab nationalism should be confused with HINDI which is a language mix of Persian, Arabic, Sanskrit and local dialect. Nationalism is different
Irony of this video is that they wrote 'Kannad'(Kannada being correct) when they are saying that they respect every language equally 😂😂😂 Typical north Indian channel
As a Sikh, I respect south Indian leaders for not giving up their mother tung. Us punjabis fucked up punjabi language so bad that probably 50% of Punjab speaks hindi now. i guess there will not be Punjabi songs in 50 years from now that we all love :(
See thats the real problem, most on the north indian languages are like immediate siblings to hindi and its easy to learn for north indians. now most native languages are lost within hindi and dethroned them. Look at film industry where are the other woods for marathi, bengali, odia. never heard them.
Jaswinder: it’s still not too late. Sensible educated should fight and work towards it to preserve their regional lang. The metropolitan cities suffer badly today because outsiders won’t learn regional lang and without that they can’t work or communicate with local people who can Inturn highlight and discuss various problem of the city and other cities or villages of that state so that everyone can stand and fight for the betterment. Else I don’t see any outsiders settled in a metro polo tan city caring about any other city and village and people of the state they live in except the regional people. The moment people refuse to learn regional lang saying English and Hindi is enough, one can’t expect such people to help with growth of state nor for betterment of the backward cities nor they are of any help to preserve the regional lang and culture.
@@knowakshayjoshi It’s heart warming to see people like you understand the real problem and discussion of common lang is like discussion and planning of wiping out entire Indian languages and with that goes the culture and traditional and richness of every region!!
Why does the onus of National Integration lie on the Southern States? Let Haryana teach telugu, let Bihar Teach Kannada etc. Why does only south has to pitch in whether taxes or language ?
also all bank forms/ railway tickets should use Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada scripts and should not use devanagiri scripts just how they treat our fellow south indians. they will know the pain.
Belawadi was the only a sane ,urbane and sensible voice in the panel. I could see that the anchor, gradually realising that his well prepared and curated questions were going to look out of place , took a conciliatory stand.!!!! Spend your time gainfully on other issues. was the best answer.Belawadi gave.and ,I hope the centre takes it seriously. !!!
I m punjabi..can speak nd read hindi as well..but i love my punjabi language..i totaly agree tht hindi shud not b imposed on south indians..they hv their own very rich languages..Tamil, kannada, malyalam, telgu.
He never imposed Hindi..he just said learn hindi as second language. Next to your regional language. It is only good for people knowing multiple languages. Some idiotic politicians politicizing it for their benefit...and some people falling for it. Learning hindi will help us in official transactions. Bottomline : No one imposing on any one...just asking to learn. When u can learn and speak English (who enslaved us 400 years) why can't we learn Hindi? P.S I am from Karnataka.
@Mandeep: Ok But when you have/learnt Punjabi and Hindi, when Maharashtrian can Marathi and Hindi, When Gujarati can learn Gujarati and Hindi......why can't Tamilians can learn Tamil and Hindi, Kannadiga can learn Kannada and Hindi. It is only for our benefit. Even I am not for imposing Hindi...but I don't understand the logic behind refusing it. Learning other languages as 2nd language will not affect our mother tongue. When we go to German for job or study..they impose us to learn German...we happily learn and do certification on that. But why when it comes to India..we fight? It is very simple yaar, we are asked to learn Hindi as 2nd language for our benefit..our nation benefit. Politicians politicizing it...thats it
This debate can go on for another 100 years. Still nothing can change the love and pride South Indians have for their mother tongue and we will still stay strong and united towards our regional language. Pride tamilian.
Shameless comments by Mr .Pallam Raju..being a native Telugu speaker myself I feel ashamed that he is supporting these narrow minded people who try to play with Indian diversity...Now I get a sense why Andhra Pradesh really got divided....Proud to live in Bangalore..perhaps one day I will claim Kannada as my mother tongue..love their unity..
pasam kiran teja 😂😂😂 nd you too narrow minded... If you ready to claim yourself kannada after being telgu....then How could you say him narrow-minded if he born in area where urdu/hindi has influence.... Nd no one imposing hindu on you.. Until you are ready to learn it....
Arvind Kumar Well I said I love their unity and had learnt the language by choice..Noone tried to play any childish games like this by claiming so and so is a national language..I chose Kannada by choice and Telugu is my mother tongue No one can change that...If you guys love Hindi..Keep it with you..No thanks. We don't need it..Our Dravidian languages are themselves rich in culture and heritage..Dravidian language Tamil predates this so called Hindi or before you Aryans invaded and started the Vedic Sanskrit, and later Hindi which includes Urdu as well...So my north Indian brother If you are interested you can learn Tamil a true Indian language..We dravidians(true Indians) will preserve all our languages.Hindi will never even touch our foot...All the best...I know Hindi is a beautiful language 😋 So please don't use those beautiful Hindi gaalis or bad words😁 which 99.999 percent of you guys resort to when you guys get agitated
Abusing, seriously? "this *so called Hindi or before you Aryans* invaded and started the Vedic Sanskrit". No body told you "you dravidians". Why use it as a derogatory word? You have problem with Hindi, it's fine but don't demean people.

Mohyal for humanity only one state speak telegu.yah sanskrit can united indians.also hindi nd sanskrit similar .nd sanskrit is the more scientific language.
Hey I'm a Bengali, and if our South Indian brothers and sisters want to learn a third language, please learn Bengali, skip Hindi, you will get to read great literature, watch great movies, may be can get married to a sweet Bengali, skip those Hindi goons. Also, I would like my children to learn Kannada or Malayalam or Tamil as third language, not Hindi.
I personally think Bengali should have been made national language in 1947. Its closer to Sanskrit than Hindi. Its also very pleasing to the ear.. More so than Hindi
I am a tamil person born and raised in South Africa. I find the imposition of hindi very disturbing. It reminds me of the white apartheid government that tried to impose their language (Afrikaans) on black students. The students revolted which set in motion a chain of events that eventually brought apartheid to an end. In India's case it is even more distressing as more people speak hindi than any other language, but that does not mean it should be imposed on anyone else. All people and their customs, languages etc should be respected and upheld - diversity is india's strength and it should be nourished not crushed.... It is a shame to see this happening in the motherland. Very sad.
Dude, nobody is imposing on anyone...please understand. He is just asking you to learn as second langague. When u go to France..won't you learn french?when u go to German. Won't you learn German?? So What is the problem in learning Hindi in India? Just as second or third language....nobody is forcing any one to leave their mother tongue and learn Hindi,no!! Just like English , learn Hindi. What's wrong in that? Politicians are politicizing it...Don't fall for that!!
Invincibly, Me what’s the problem in learning hindi in India? First of all, India is not all about hindi. Other Indian languages are equally important. I will learn it if I want to. You keep saying no one if forcing but you are. Just leave us alone. No one is stopping you from learning anything. Don’t just tell us why we should learn hindi. We know when to learn what. No one has any business telling us to do something.
@@rumibharadwaj1730 so nobody is imposing right? then why do you keep complaining what is the problem in learning Hindi in India? @@amartyasengupta604 Please no. Hindi is one of India's language. For a vibrant Republic all our languages are precious. This destroys the cohesion of India and the multi language mosaic of India carefully woven by our Constitution. So while I sympathize with your anger I want Hindi to thrive in its heartland.

Hindi ain't no classical language. No one speaks pure dialects like Brajbhasha, Shekawati, Awadhi and Bhojpuri much anyway. Prakrit is a little obscure but one can try to learn. Malayalam can be termed 'classical' since it "moved away" from Tamil in the 7th - 8th century. Kannada and Telugu are both classical with the former much more older around 6th - 7th century; Telugu around 9th - 11th century. Modern spoken Tamil and Telugu are quite perverted these days, Kannada is following suit; but you'll have to go to literary works. Modern Malayalam is a great idea since the people want to retain it the way it is (still uses extensive vocabulary from Sanskrit and classical Tamil that have fallen out of favor), but that's coming soon too. Your best bet is taking the literature route to any/all of the languages.
I am a north indian but i truly believe that no language should be imposed. Every language has its own beauty. And English is a common language which not only connects Indian's north with South but the whole world. Thank you Please don't abuse me, respect my views and i respect yours
If you were deprived of formal education due to poverty and you earn your livelihood from South Indian states then think what difficulties you have to face
1. I am a Tamilian who speaks perfect Hindi. After 18 years of being MOSTLY among north Indians (if not in the north), I left the navy/army areas/hindi speaking classmates and came to civil street in Chennai. I learnt good Tamil. I do love hindi, but Hindi vs Tamil, I will PICK ONLY TAMIL. நமது மொழி, நமது பெருமை. It's my mother tongue and it means the most to me. 2. If Hindi is so important, why are Hindi teachers paid so less in India? Be it north or less, the average salary is 20K ish, which is insufficient for all my monthly expenses. 3. Why do foreign language teachers earn more? Why is a French teacher paid 40k? Because there is demand. We created the demand all over India. We wanna go abroad for masters. we wanna globalize. 4. We don't have a problem with hindi. We have a problem when on the name of a uniform link Language, hindi is imposed on us. Many Tamizhans write Hindi certificate exams to work in Government jobs. We watch bollywood films and listen to songs. We do know Hindi and some of us know Hindi better than many north Indians 5. As per the 3 language act policy, Hindi was not supposed to be a compulsory language. English, the state language and a third modern language of the state's choice was the mandate. While kerala, Karnataka and AP followed it, no one in the north gave a south language as the 3rd option. While we gave north languages including Hindi as an option, no one bothered to learn southern languages. Over the years the number of speakers of southern languages have reduced so bad, while hindi has risen. We don't want our languages to die out. 6. Hindi is a derived language. It is derived from Persian/arabic and sanskrit. God forbid if these languages didn't exist, hindi also wouldn't. On the other hand, Sanskrit, Odia, Tamizh, Malayalam, kannada and Telugu are classical languages. we don't need hindi to survive. Tamil is the oldest and the sangam literature has been there for centuries now.
Link language debate is not about money , it's about can Hindi become as optional for English as Link language , why not ? If Hindi can't become a link language then no language could . So , don't waste my time to this-that and end with Don't impose Hindi on us , south India, all Non-Hindi speakers are not from Southern part of India.
I want to touch on something no one did. The fact that cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad,Trivendrum,Kochi etc have been the heart of IT industry and thus became a seeping ground to many Northern fellow Indians is well known. The real problem starts when this minority hesitates to adapt via learning the language..Most of them easily escape that difficulty using English Or Hindi...without attempting to learn the local language(I have massive respect to the ones that have learnt the local language). Imagine the reverse scenario...can I or anyone from South start speaking the local dialect in a city up north?? Hell no! We cant use English as well! Its not that we are rejecting your language or anything..its just about demanding the much needed mutual respect. I respect Hindi for what it is...but never more than my mother tongue(which quite frankly has better literature, a cinema industry which is by far better than Bollywood, better sounding insults etc). If the case was reversed and say my mother tongue was to be imposed on some non speakers.. well that's the closest we can get to the nazism and that's bullcrap!

Yes brother. I mean when it comes to signages we have both english and regional language on it. Most indians learn english( even hindi speaking person) because it links with many countries as it is one of the international link language. So introducing hindi is a burden or a wasteful effort. I mean i personally know Tamil, english and hindi. And i use english and tamil often. Even all these comments are mostly in english. Actually i never used hindi ever even if i speak with a hindi speaking person. I am comfortable with english more. English is much simpler than hindi to learn. But south indian languages are different and dont you think its a burden for us. I am not opposing hindi but its just i dont need it in my daily life. Really, why does the Government of India spend so much money to promote Hindi ? Whose money are they spending anyway? Imposition of Hindi works against national integration. Pakistan imposed Urdu and all its languages lost relevance and half of the country separated. Is this what the Hindi lobby wants? Why blame our neighbor when the Hindi lobby is here to work for them for free ?.
Urdu Bangla issue was one of the first reasons of scuffle between east and west pakistan but the same was more or less laid to rest in 1956 when both Urdu and Bangla was declared state languages of Pakistan. The main reason of Bangladesh's creation was the refusal of west pakistani establishment to give people of east pakistan their due rights including right to spent their revenue on themselves, lack of development in east pakistan, development projects in west pakistan on the expense of revenue generated by east etc. The regional languages in present day pakistan are spoken by people in their homes (they are also taught in schools in their respective provinces except in punjab where punjabis themselves prefer Urdu over punjabi, which has been the case since the british era when urdu was the official lang of the province). However when they want to conversate with a person from another province then they use urdu and we pakistanis are comfortable with that as we know that no one language of the country can be imposed on others while Urdu is a neutral languages understood (Even if basic) through out the country giving comfort to everyone when they want to communicate with people from another ethnicity. We dont have issues which hindi faces in india.
MS R: Your contention that the issue was more or less laid to rest in 1956 is possibly a bit on the optimistic side. There is no reason for a Bangali to accept Urdu as his/her national language - and that was the war cry of the Bhasha Andolan which saw the Dhaka University uprising and police brutality. But it was easy in your case - Urdu and Bangla are very different and separation is not difficult. My knowledge about other original languages of Pakistan loosing their relevance gradually (and moving into oblivion) is based on the various interesting Pakistani TV shows that I watch (off course that includes Tarek Fateh). yes, we have a bit more difficult problem and the founding fathers got it right - but the new zealots are trying their luck - they will loose..
Mustafa Alam: If you are from Pakistan - I pity you since you do not even know that Urdu is your national language which was imposed by your founding fathers and the resulting disenchantment resulted in the language movement etc etc. Do you really have to use profanity - is that a way to ascertain your level of intellect .
You are not from Pakistan (sure?) and yet claim to know why Urdu was enforced by Jinnah as Pakistan's National language. And your knowledge of history tells you that it was for ease of communication ... in a language that only 3% of the people spoke - take a hike !! You have been trolling in the social platform far too long. Also, lets stop discussing any further - your affinity for using foul language implies a terrible inferior level of human intellect - the type that I do not wish to interact with. Thanks.

Btw tagalog is the language of one of the ethnolinguistic group in the Phil and it was implemented and forcefully imposed to be taught in all schools including the non-tagalog regions. And setting aside non-tagalog languages. It is a fucking imperialism and im sad that our country is silence about the issue. I believe we should just only focus on english.

Prakash belwadi your super sir, being a kannadiga I accepted your words. Kannada is a classical language and other South languages also. We protect, respect, and fallow our langauge. Why some government peoples are hiring Hindi in southern states.
Prakash Belawadi is the smartest personality I've ever seen or heard on political TV. He has a good foothold on things and speaks intelligently, with a lot of well-placed passion, and logic. There are very few in the National stage with such a presence. He has a great future in Indian politics whenever he so decides.
BJP, when in Maharashtra, along will allies, put Marathi up front. Now, why is this hypocritical approach in Karnataka? Different ideologies in different states? If people of Karnataka put Kannada upfront, what's wrong in it? Also, If we go on to BJP's 'Indian/not-Indian' philosophy, I think Kannada is more Indian then Hindi, as kannada has more sanskrit words. Hindi, nowadays is is a mix of Hindi and Urdu.
Dear friend, Hindi directly descends from Sanskrit.. its just the linguistic nature of Hindi that it naturally assimilates the words of other languages. We need to be proud of it. Regards Kaushik
He is not Telangana minister. He was a union minister from Congress and from present Andhra Pradesh. This discussion is politically biased trying to speak against BJP with an undercover of south region. BJP speaks for all identities and is against appeasement to only certain religions, may be that’s my view. And I’m firm supporter of pan India with native identity which can be religious too.
I have been living in Bangalore for quite sometime and have learned Kannada. Now this has made me a complete polyglot apart from my command in other European languages not just three!!!

Invincible Dr if you don't know we south Indians already learn our native language as a second language with English as first. We love English because it makes us global ..Wt can Hindi do😁...just lurk around making a fool of itself by penetrating the impenetrable
I am Hindi speaker and I feel that imposing Hindi over regional languages is outright unpatriotic. Diversity and Pluralism are the core values of our nation and we should be wary of politicians who try to divide us along sectarian and linguistic lines. Cutting across lines of language, ethnicity and religion we should all come together to preserve our languages. Being an Indian, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali and all the other languages and dialects spoken across our country are as dear to me as my mother tongue is.
Hindi imposition is real. I studied in a CBSE school in Maharashtra and being a Marathi, I never studied Marathi in it but Hindi, Sanskrit and English. As a result, I'm more fluent in Hindi. I couldn't speak a single sentence in Marathi couple of years ago, Only recently i have started learning Marathi... So, Just imagine the state of Marathi language in its home state, Maharashtra. I hope, Hindi will be rejected by all the non-Hindi states.
Sir you are not talking about english language.just imagine the state of Maharashtra home land of Marathi . private and government sector don't allow Marathi job seekers in there office as employees.
Mid-day meals scheme was introduced by Kamarajar, but yes MGR period it become well known by in others States.. and he named as Sathunavu Thittam. I give credit for both CM's and thanks for Brijesh sir to show casing some good examples from South we did..
In short., to a Tamil guy, Hindi is as foreign as English. Hindi is similar to Manipuri and Tulu. Hindi is also not helping to gain money. Non Hindi states do much better than Hindi states. What is the point of learning Hindi. Stop homogenizing and leave others in peace.
I am a Hindi speaking person who was taught only Hindi in school. I wish while growing up we were allowed to take Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali etc. at least for a year or two. Then we would have been introduced to the rich and beautiful literature and culture of these languages much earlier.

Very true
yes you are very very correct
I agree your words bro super
Perfect not just correct, you deserve best respect
We do know Hindi and some of us know Hindi better than many north Indians
French loves its languages. What's problem with Indians

Even if you know punjabi, i am sure that the dialects in hindi is a little different from punjabi, just like languages in the south. But south indian languages are different and dont you think its a burden for us. I am not opposing hindi but its just i dont need it in my daily life. India is a diverse country so lets embrace and accept everything as it is. Each regional language in india is a national language too and each of those represent the culture of those people. I from tamilnadu dont oppose learning hindi or any language but oppose imposion and compulsion to learn it. It will only leave a bitter taste at the end. As indians we all pledged ourselves as brothers and sisters. So lets understand each other more. Thanks for your support and understanding brothers.👍🏼👍🏼

Rola Pola boss don't divert subject
Thanks.
I am a bengali and i am very proud of my language and i also feel proud to have various other languages in my country.
