I'm a Telugu from Hyderabad. I fully support the Kannadigas here. Hindi is not a national language in our constitution and rightly so. In fact there are more Tamil and Telugu speaking people in Benguluru so if the argument here is about being cosmopolitan, then why not have other regional languages on the sign boards? Why can't we have south indian languages displayed in Delhi? So this cosmopolitan argument does not hold any water. North indians should really understand that Hindi is not India and India is not Hindi. If Hindi should be displayed in a city like Bengaluru, than Delhi and Mumbai should reciprocate.

At the same time hindi migrant workers are exploiting this and completely avoid telugu. Native urdu speakers from old city, most of them actually can speak telugu. I am also sorry to say that PV narsimha rao our 1st non Gandhi Nehru PM too was not able to implement 3 language formula under congress pressure

Had to stop to comment. Such a disgusting commentary by the comedian and a politician who seem to rot in inferiority complex. Please travel! Everywhere on this planet countries have multiple languages and they tend to embrace a language spoken by a wider population other than English (Like Hindi in this case) and similarly had there been a huge influence of some other language then that to. You people who are 'privileged' English speakers and yet miserable souls can not for a second stand with the working class who is coming from everywhere in the country and will most probably understand Hindi? You tell people to learn Kannada and vice-versa? How dare you? Rather than incorporating one more language you want to take one more language? Then you will want to take away the people also. Isn't it racist? Isn't it disgusting? Shame on you and you stubborn, cheap and redundant behavior on the panel. Thanks to Faye for this show and her patience.

It is the mistake of Kannadigas who elect Hindi political parties to rule them. It's time to thing why Kannadigas should not have their own political party.
This imposition is imperialism. This type of activities should be regarded by all human beings who love their mother land being ruled by their mother tong as terrorism. Oh! What has Hindi given Maha- bomb blasts, massive increase in crime, assaults on women, insults and contempt towards local culture and people, marginalisation of the interests of the sons-of-the-soil, exploitation, land grab by outsiders, massive scams, demonisation of political parties and their leaders that espouse the interests of the local people and more. I belong to north karnataka. I disagree with you totally. Hindi is not foreign to us. It is derived from sanskrit, the holy language of Hindus. Most of the words have originated from sanskrit, which are used in south Indian languages as well.Minorities interest should be taken care of, so also majority interest.
In short 3 language principle must be strictly followed.

    2001 language census of bangalore.....
    Kannada - 41.54
    Tamil - 18.43
    Telugu - 15.47
    Urdu - 12.90
    Hindi - 3.41
    Malayalam - 2.95
    Marathi - 2.22
    Konkani - 0.71
    Others - 3.18
So, the third language that should be on the board is not Hindi, it's Tamil. Then There should be Telugu, after that there should be Urdu and following that there is the place for Hindi.
Hindi Should not get more privilege, it is harmful for our diversity.

I support and promote the Two Language Policy.
Hindi speakers learn Your mother-tongue and English.
Tamil speakers learn your mother-tongue and English.
Bengali speakers learn your mother-tongue and English.
Kannada speakers learn your mother-tongue and English.
Telugu speakers learn your mother-tongue and English.
English should be the main lingua-franca and that will be better for all our languages. A language from another region should not be imposed on another region.
It is not possible to put instructions in all 22 languages. Therefore, two language policy.
I don't need to know Hindi to be Indian. I am Indian in my own language.
If possible make Sanskrit the national language to promote the classical language, I'll support it but not Hindi.
Hindi is Indian. But India is NOT HINDI.

I am a Pure Tamil boy. Tamil people are smart and know that if Hindi is influencing into Tamil Nadu it will soon destroy the Tamil language. Which is why we Tamil people have declined Hindi language several times because we know that Tamil IS ONE OF THE OLDEST LANGUAGES SPOKEN TILL THIS DAY! Same for Kannada I rlly hope Karnataka people will soon realise that by letting Hindi in soon the language of Kannada will be gone and Bangalore will soon basically be a North Indian city😬I highly recommended that you Kannada speaking people to be smart like we Tamils r and protest for your language! Or else soon it will be banished/gone. Even worse is that at least there are 70+ million speakers for Tamil but for Kannada it's only like 20 million so please save your language and don't let Hindi inside👌🏽Thank You and hope this helped and have a great day!!🙂

At 24:57, the host is horribly wrong! When the Constitution was drafted, both English and Hindi were decided upon as the official languages. English was to be discontinued after 15 years. However, this step was never taken due to the anti-Hindi protests in various non-Hindi states in the early 1960s. Hence, as of today, both English and Hindi continue to be the official languages of India.
I fail to understand why the BJP panelist speaks in Hindi on an English channel. None of the panelists have their mother tongue as English. However, since it is an English language channel, everyone is speaking in English. Such chauvinist attitude can't be encouraged. It undermines the pluralist idea of Indian society.

Why is Kannada or Telugu not implemented in Northern cities? We cannot allow a particular language to dominate and push other ancient and classical languages behind for mere political gain. First all regional languages should be given respect the connecting language will be Hindi and English. Ashok Patil I advice you to stop making a fool of yourself. I am 99% sure (excluding 1% for safety) that you are a hindi speaker. Even in that other comment you stated hindi being the national language and also quoted the constitution in your favour, when actually the constitution states no such thing.
For your information idiot, it is KANNADA only. Listen carefully.
In indo-aryan languages, if the last letter is a letter with an 'a' sound, that sound is removed. कलम is kalam and not kalama.
But this is not the case in Dravidian languages. In any Dravidian language script, if you would write कन्नड it's correct pronounciation is kannada. 'a' is not removed, it is prounced.
So कन्नड ಕನ್ನಡ is kannaDa and not kannad.

If a signboard has kannada on top and hindi at the bottom , how is this imposition of hindi . The person who reads Kannada can read the kannada part and ignore the rest . If a signboard has hindi and not kannada , then that is an imposition of hindi . But if the boards give top most priority to kannada, i don't find a reason why the kannada sentiment would be hurt

Metro is state run transport, So Hindi is nothing to do with state, Its we to decide which language needed. from 2001 we started the opposition of hindi boards the metro officers dont have explanation why they put the hindi first of all ..so far Bengaluru bus BMTC runs without hindi. no issue for that people to commute..but if we oppose hindi in our transport system.. you put us on AntiNational or AntiHindi tag. So center should learn to respect state ..other wise it is going to face serious consequence in future..

(you check stats from central govt how much hindi speaking state pay tax).. Second, Hindi is being imposed in South India, but no South Indian language is on signboards anywhere in North India...were is the respect for South Indians in the North?

We have English as a common language which is internationally accepted in 95% percent of the countries..why else do we need hindi as an official language when we have our own regional language as an official one. .. When a Tamilian is in the North let them learn hindi to communicate likewise when a Northindian is in the Tamilnadu let them learn Tamil to communicate its as simple as that.. We don't need another language on common grounds as its killings our identity.. Let malayalam prevail in kerala and hindi prevail in Delhi.. Simple
