As a Space nerd i just was to clarify that orbit length doesnt ,generally, have a correlation of length of day. Length of day has to do with the rotation of the planet no orbit.
What I love about Geoff Johns writing and his positions Chief Creative Officer is that he continuously reimagines the Green Lantern mythos. I love the GL corps , I think most people don't realize that this has a potential of being a profitable movie franchise. I feel that this is DC's version of Star Wars meets Lethal Weapon meets Avatar. I really can see a big mega movie trilogy with great big budget Special Effects with a Anime style action sequence for the GL ring constructs!!
Don't you mean, "And let me tell you something RobCorp! Let me tell you something man! Woe be to those who don't recognize that THIS is the best thing coming out of DC Rebirth!" :D
not best thing but out of the new creations it is, New Superman is awesome but This new GL title is really interesting adding more lore to this DC universe, while news sups a standalone title u can watch my reaction to it in my channel if u want. In my opinion Superman probaly best thing in DC atm lots of the stories are awesome just Superman is even better. Flash has improved significantly compared to his new 52 run and many others. But still want Swamp Thing back again for his solo series
Enjoying this thanks :) afair~ I think based on the animated series, which is the canon I follow the closest.. Orange Lantern Corps (oldest) .. Star Sapphire (also as old and separate) Manhunters Red Lantern Green Lantern Blue Lantern I realize this is not the story of the comics, but y'know the way they told it made a lot more sense than the comics imho.. They tried creating a Lantern Corp (Avarice, I imagine in an attempt to promote the 'care' aspect of ownership, like caretakers) which failed, creating a civil war within that corps and throughout the galaxy, to respond to this they created the manhunters, the manhunters decimated Atrocitius' home planet killing his wife and children, which led to him creating the Red Lantern Corps. Again, in response to the Manhunters being seen as more of a threat than a peacekeeping force, the Guardians decommissioned the Manhunters and tried again at a Lantern Corps, this time with the power of Will. With the Blue Lantern Corps being started by Saint Walker and a renegade Guardian Ganthet.. to me this all makes perfect sense, No Indigo Tribe was introduced, but it would have been easy to tell their story as they could have existed and not been known about, being separate like the Star Sapphires..but existing from around the time where the Red Lanterns and Green Lanterns beginnings overlap. As Rob said, it's a bit 'messy' in the comics.. the animated series was very sensible and streamlined. I like it :)
I like Benny on TWP and The Pull, but when it comes to TH-cam, I prefer Rob's explanations over Benny's storytelling style. I do like his IRL/discussion vids tho.
I watch both Comicstorian and ComicsExplained and I must say, I like ComicsExplained much more. I'm not sure why and nothing against Comicstorian but I prefer this for comic book content.
finally someone who has brought the clues together, I always thought there was alot more to the volthoom story, thanks, and maybe you could do a video on how manu lanterns there have been from sector 2814, peace!
It's so cool how Comicstorian, Comic Pop and you work together. With all of the TH-cam pissing contest between channels going on these days its just refreshing. I am subscribed to all of you guys so you guys most likely share the same subscribers any ways. Good job man :)
4:49 The speed at which the planet orbits the sun defines the length of a year not a day. The length of a day is depended on how fast the planet spins around its axis.
awesome! I'm not into the Lantern corps stuff at all and this was a great explanation Rob. you really do such a good job man. keep up the good work dude
Could you do a discussion about magic in the DC universe? It seems like there are tons of types and they all do different things but it's never been super clear to me. Like...if Zatanna can just make whatever she says backwards happen, how is she not considered a god-tier reality warper?
If Zatanna has to pronounce what she intends backwards for it to happen, does this mean she says "siht reven deneppah" and does that mean she doesn't need RU-486?
Hey, Rob. I enjoy your commentary and explanation of everything comics: from characters to power sets, and stories. But what I would absolutely love to hear you say when I click on one of your videos, "Now, what I want to do today is talk about *Dr. Fate* and give you a better understanding..." That would be the bee's knees.
Thanks for this video. I knew this issue was important, and it was really good in an indie horror flick sort of way, but I didn't know why. Thanks for filling in the blanks.
I loved this issue is actually felt bad for him think about all the planets he saved and helped trying his best to save his planet only to be trapped for so long by his friends
Very interesting stuff. I've always been a Marvel guy, but this DC mythology is getting more and more intriguing to learn about. I always thought DC was more cheesy, and for kids, but how wrong I was. TOTALLY DIGGIN' IT!!!!
Appreciate your work brother, I hope that you are taking care of your health. You are appreciated by many, with great power comes great responsibility. Peace,
the new 52 lantern series is the best content dc has put out in years! blackest night and brightest day are the shit! wrath of the first lantern is great as well
Wow. That is a cool story. A man creates a travel lantern to find a way to cure his planets problems. Than after who knows how many years of traveling and talking to others he gets a ring which lets him tap into the emothinal spectrum easier. Gets drunk with power and the guys who helped create the ring make 7 more and take him down. Than he sits for billions of years. Big events have small beginnings is so so true here.
Volthoom doesn't know how much time he spent jumping not because of the different day length on other earths, but because the time itself may run slower or faster. Saying the Time, I mean "time particles" if it even has them. According to the theory of relativity if you move as fast as the speed of light or faster time slows for you and you age slower than those who aren't moving along with you. Jumping-Volthoom could've stumbled across universes that experience same effect. That's why he didn't know how much time he spent searching for a savior. Bad luck with bad universe may've lead to thousand or even millions of years to a single day. And why does it always come to some unknown wizard to create something that sounds un-science, when everything that advanced races create looks completely reasonable.
I really just want a Green Lantern who fights crime like Superman or Spider-Man, this stuff is interesting but now he's just a space guy doing space guy stuff. He's a hero, just that one thing would let me enjoy his stories a lot more. Like Green Lantern fighting street crime with his cool ring? I love that
Thank you for this video. I feel like its been forever since you did some epic DC content. Can we get a Green Lantern binge like you did with the Hulk and Red Hulk? I needs that...
My god guys... Green Lantern is the best thing coming out of DC right now...Just finished the whole Brightest Day series and man was that a looonnnnnggggg ride lol
love, love, LOVE your videos and the content you create and put out here to share with us. That being said, to correct you sir, the length of a day is determined by the speed of rotation and size of a planet like Earth not the speed of the orbital velocity of a planet around a star like our sun, which determines the length of a year (one definition of a year anyway). Thanks for who you are and for all that you do, never stop being you and doing the things you do sir. Cheers eh!
I always found the whole "if someone dies then the curse/object will stop" to be really easy to solve. In comics many characters die and come back form getting their whole bodies destroyed so why not just kill them and revive them later. Hell get a doctor to stop the hear and brain and revive the person before their brain starts to die off.
Does anybody believes that Kyle could eventually be as powerful as Volthoom? Think about it. Volthoom is the embodiment of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum which comes from the white light of creation. Kyle can harness the power of the entire spectrum because his ring is powered by the white light. So if they were to fight, who would win? Also if I remember correctly, at the end of Brightest Day, the Life Entity had chosen Swamp Thing to be it's successor or will the writer recon that (I hope not). Plus let's not forget about the Life Equation. I'm probably over thinking things but Volthoom is an interesting character that has me wonder what if. Any thoughts?
I'm a fan and a sub since the days of MarvelExplained, but you really f****d up the real world science at 4:40 and that gets my hackles up. The Earth's orbit determines a year not a day. Rotation determines the length of the day. I'm sure you actually know that but...

Hey Rob, could you do a video or set on Earth-X, Universe-X and Paradise-X? They were a cool and unique series that kind of reminded me of Miracle Man. Also do Miracle Man!
+ComicsExplained Can you do a video on Star Wars Legends comics like Tales of the Jedi, Invasion, Knights of the Old Republic, Dark Times, or Legacy I & II and/or Archie Sonic the Hedgehog like the Great Harmony arc, House of Cards, or Champions?
good afternoon rob! it would be so awesome if you could make a video that would decide once and for all which jet is more powerful. the avengers jet or the xmens jet? your channel is my favorite channel on all of TH-cam.
I just started watching your content about a week or so ago and became a sub after the first video. You make amazing content and you really put in the effort for your videos. I'm mostly a DC fan but I am trying to watch all the content so I'm familiar with what's going on. That being said I was wondering if you ever done a video on DC's Section 8? I learned about these guys some time ago and would love to hear your opinion on them. Thank you.
Well, it kind of does. You see, in the time it takes the Earth to make one full rotation, the direction of the Sun shifts slightly, and the amount that it shifts depends on how fast the Earth is orbiting. I think that one Earth day is a few seconds longer than the time it takes for the Earth to make one full rotation, though it could be a bit shorter instead. I watch both comicstorian and comics explained even if they cover the same story haha
fernando wetherbee I rewatched Benny's injustice series to see what he covered or didn't cover compared to Rob.
As a Space nerd i just was to clarify that orbit length doesnt ,generally, have a correlation of length of day. Length of day has to do with the rotation of the planet no orbit.
Passing around the sun is a year not a day, the 24 hour day comes from the rotation of the earth.
i love guys like you honestly no sarcasm you tickle me in a special way
@@ckaner1774 the narrator isn't being sarcastically, he legitimately mixed a year up with a day.
@@opaqueandbluefrommyphone4339 Nobody said be was being sarcastic.
@@ckaner1774 Because he corrected something that was wrong? You have a problem with the concept of facts?
Rob don't quit you and comicstorian are the best you go in deep deep dep's in explaining that is still easy for someone who does normally read comics
Doesn't
Rob: For those of you who have not read Geoff Johns' stories...

@comicsexplained never sees my comments but can you do a video on the origin/power set of Dr.Fate
rainey sounds like something that can get interesting
Please do.
please please do
Oh! You beat me to it!
Make it happen Rob!
I am glad you and other comic book YT channels can coordinate. I truly think that is awesome and very respectable.
I always thought manhunters were before volthoom cause Krona made the manhunters kill sector 66)

Rob you should do a DC hierarchy video.
TheMainman Boiii agreed. just for the hell of it

That's probably why they wanted him to make the video.

the video I was waiting for!! :)
Hey idk who comic historian was till this video but seriously your vids are better even if I never seen one of theirs XD
how fast a plant goes around the sun =/= how long the day will be, that is years. Great video as always though!

I'll be the dork. You meant rotate on it's axis, not orbit the sun :-) Great Vid
great video and love your other videos made me get into the DC universe more in depth
I've never watched comicstorian so you automatically got my view

Wrath of the first lantern was one of the best GL stories,I'm happy to see Volthoom making a return.

shadowlantern0 I to was wondering about Kyle Rainer in relation to Volthoom. Perhaps it will be a future plot point?
kyle should be more powerful but he's constantly being written as someone who almost does every arc
Interesting video, Wish it was longer. Keep up the great work!
This video is touching on some serious deeeep sh!#
great job @ComicsExplained !
I'm a fan and a sub since the days of MarvelExplained, but you really f****d up the real world science at 4:40 and that gets my hackles up. The Earth's orbit determines a year not a day. Rotation determines the length of the day. I'm sure you actually know that but...
Thakur Bhullar lmfao
Matthew Byrnes human mistake calm down
Release the hackles son, it was a mistake.
I said my piece and got some more engagement on a video from a creator I like. I'm calling that mission accomplished.
Matthew Byrnes What rotation? The earth is flat.
what happens if the hulk wields the red lantern ring
Brian Nathan He already made a video of Marvel characters with power rings
wow so many people are shitting on Comicstorian, can't people like both Benny and Rob
I don't hate I just prefer Rob, personal preference
It's not the orbit around the sun that determines the length of a day. it's the earth's rotation on it's axis that causes that. the orbit around the sun determines the seasons. (sorry to nitpick, you're not a science channel, but I do still enjoy your series! keep up the good work!)
I really wanted this video.thanks man
a showdown between the jets of the avengers and xmens would be super cool. inquiring minds want to know which had the better weapons, defensive technology, etc.
Re:the Manhunters timeline
I think that Johns slightly changed the timeline when he was still writing GL, and Humphries picked up on that.
First Krona began his initial research into the Emotional Spectrum, culminating in the creation of his Gauntlet which was unrefined. Meanwhile, the Guardians had already created the Manhunters which patrolled the Universe. After Krona looked back at Creation's Beginning in order to understand the Spectrum, he was declared a heretic by the Malthusians (the Guardians) who sent the Manhunters after Krona.
Krona managed to infect them with a new program which caused them to go genocidal which led to the destruction of Sector 666, which would lead to the Red Lanterns forming. Because of this, the Guardians decided to further research the Emotional Spectrum, which Rami the Rogue Guardian headed.
Then Volthoom showed up and helped Rami and the Guardians, then went drunk with power, and Rami, using the First Ring as a template, managed to create the first Green Lantern rings. After that is when he created the Phantom Ring which could harness all of the Spectrum, but it was a failure that Rami was cast out for.
tl;dr: Krona starts Emotion research, Manhunters go crazy, Volthoom becomes First Lantern, first 7 GL's enlisted, Rami creates Phantom Ring.

Always like the corps videos! Now you need to on the marvel side. Start the exiles lol
I love Lantern stuff soooo much!
I love your videos, Rob.
Hey! ComicsExplained Can you do the Blackest Night storyline! That would be awesome!! 😎😎
good afternoon rob! it would be so awesome if you could make a video that would decide once and for all which jet is more powerful. the avengers jet or the xmens jet? your channel is my favorite channel on all of TH-cam.

What kind of power rings do we get in the RobCorps ?
4Rth wall ring? Continuity Ring?
love this channel!!
hope you feel better Rob.

The speed at which the Earth orbits the sun doesnt give us our days, it gives us our years. How fast the Earth rotates on its axis is our day.
Did nobody hear him say that the length of earths days depend on how fast the earth orbits around the sun?
why?
C Kaner Because it's not true. It's the rotation that defines the length of a day not the orbit.
Not that this has any practical effect on anything, but it's still true.
Well articulated.
love ur videos bro
this was really good one
Hoooollllyyyyy crap, if you don't do more on these green lantern arcs I'll freak lol
Green Lantern Rebirth is the best thing coming out of DC rebirth
The speed at which a planet orbits its star has nothing to do with the length of a day Rob...
Feel better Rob
