I remember one day, I was bored and I remembered there was a character named green lantern, which made me wonder if there were other colors of lantern, so I looked it up, and then i saw there was a thing called a black lantern. Once I heard that I wondered what it was so I looked that up too and found the blackest night, which I read, i'm not a big fan of comics, but that was a fucking awesome story.
Thank you for covering this Rob, it is giving me a new appreciation for the story. When I first read it I didn't really enjoy it too much because it just kind of seemed like a superhero zombie story. While to me it is pretty much still a superhero zombie story, your method of storytelling is getting me far more into it than reading it myself did.
With this video...it brings me back in a time when Rob had like hour long videos and I enjoyed them. But with his new attitude and jokes I COULD REALLY use that hour long format right now for this story event. :(
I have been waiting for your video's on Blackest Night for a while now, and they are living up to my expectations. I even found my reading copies of the run and started re-reading them for a 3rd time.
to be fair in the specters case taking him over would be near impossible but taking over the body of crispus Allen and restraining the specter is although impressive a much lesser feat
I have these issues as I was a reader during this, and the amazingness that was the double page art at the moment when dozens of people resurrected at the same time....... "RISE!".... gave me chills man.
Loved this story. It is, in a single word, “apocalyptic”. It is an epic battle between, literally and figuratively, the forces of light against the forces of darkness, between life and death. I even ordered the toy replicas of the lantern rings.
Rob, your channel is awesome!! i listen to your video's all the time. Very in depth with content and history every story you cover makes it that more interesting to me.Props and thanks to Rob. KEEP IT UP!!
You know... I wonder if you'd be interested in covering the DC event World War 3. Might be a different name, but its basically Black Adam waging a one man war on the super hero community. Personally, I think its just a fantastic stomp fest not unlike World War Hulk.
No matter if it's Night or Day Or Day or Night I will stay with Rob with all of my might I will become this channel's most royal and sacred knight But beware the power when... THE ROB CORP UNITE!
Blackest Night is such a great story. I can't wait to see about all the stuff I missed for it(tie ins and the like) Beware his knowledge Rob Lantern's might!
Enjoyed the video, but I must correct you on one thing. The Black existed before the White. Before the universe was at peace, no conflict. Then the light invaded and there was a war. The result was the splintering of the white light into the seven colors of the spectrum. Nekron is trying to return peace. Without life there is no conflict. Morbid but logical. Nekron is sort of a.... Big picture sorta villain. "No one will fight if no one is around to fight." You may have already addressed this issue, but GL (particularly this arc) is a major part of my formative years so I felt the need to respond. Happy to hear your exictement. I reccomend you don't stop reading Geoff Johns run on GL until its over. It doesn't "finish" until after Volthoom and its a great journey.
Saw Blackest Night Part 1 in your title, knew you'd leave on cliffhanger. I gotta admit I'm a bit more of a Marvel reader, but my first comics were DC. When Blackest Night event hit shelves, I avoided it...only because it was in everything. How do you keep up with a story that is in multiple books. Years went by and then picked up TPB, and wow I was still lost, yet did follow the basic story line of it. Having you explain it, you cleared up two things I didn't understand. Can't wait til you do part 2.
I've been waiting for you to talk about Blackest Night for a long time. Thank you so much Rob, can't wait to see the follow up videos. Also, it would be great if you did a video comparing all four Robins and placing them in Royal Rumble and maybe determining who would come out on top. Thanks.
Hey man this has to be one of the best DC stories, the way your talking in that intro reminds me of Katt Williams' " yo this sh¡+ right here this sh¡+ right here " haha. Thanks for all the knowledge you drop man
So far it doesn't look like they'll get that big, especially as long as they keep their main characters based on earth. They can't introduce God tier characters while their mainstream characters are just dudes. So the living tribunal has no reason to intervene
Green Lantern was one of my three favorite DC Comics growing up along with Flash and Teen Titans. Every Sunday I look forward to a new chapter in your ongoing synopsis of Geoff Johns's epic run On Green Lantern. Have you ever thought about doing some old-school Teen Titans stories besides the Deathstroke related ones?
Great video as always rob!! I have to say Barry Allen is pissing his pants right now!!! He had to outrun this guy for 20+ years!!! Now he must face him!!! Damn I'm so exited to see how this all plays out. How cool that he resurrected all the heros and the people that died in the city. I really love all the tie ins and how detailed the story development goes. Rob you explain the story so well and really are a great start to my day always!! Now I have to go catch up on some other videos. I'll be sure to leave a comment and a like as always! Robcore forever !
You should do a video on Cosmic Armor Superman vs Superboy Prime! Also another video on Superboy Prime vs The Unstoppable Colossus! Have a great week Rob!
The blackest night falls from the skies the darkness grows as all the light dies we crave your hearts and yours demise and by my *"African American"* hand the dead shall rise
One important part of the Firestorm part you missed is Ronnie Raymond's Deathstorm merging or rather absorbing Jason into his Desthstorm matrix and then killing Genie by turning her to salt after Jason thought of salt
This was AMAZING and much awaited. I loved this story and (as usual) loved your enthusiasm for these comics. I'm not much of a DCfan, so this is my exposure besides major movies, games, and related media. SO. I want to know what happens if you're able to put on a Black Lantern ring as a living person, and who would be best for this kind of transformation. So curious. Going to ask this for every Darkest Night video now forward.
Last night Rob I was listening to your Lantern Corp stories ...I happen to work with a guy who is a HUGE Green Lantern fan...he mentioned an Original Green Lantern that wore red tights or something in the comics ,I think the FIRST Green Lantern ,anyway he said to read or listen to THIS specific Story...Darkest Knight or Night..because I mentioned Batman what if Batman gotta Lantern Ring , Aqua Man ,Wonder Woman etc.
About the justice leagues tomb for villains, Nightwing discovered a group of criminals who were surgically grafting superhuman body parts onto normal criminals in hope of giving them superpowers
when I was a kid I read a comic about a man who went to tibet (I think) an learned fighting skills from the monks. After achieving his goals regarding skills the monks blind him by branding him with a hot iron across his eyes. He wore a black hooded cloak and throws spade shaped (as in ace of spades card) weapons. He fights doctor doom and defeated him by turning dooms wolves on doom then doom and the wolves fall off a cliff. I cannot find any reference to this character anywhere and I wonder if you know or could do a video on him if you can find info on him... big fan of your work, keep up the great videos my friend... thanks
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Aquaman did not die during the missing year. He somehow transformed into a being who called himself "The Dweller in the Depths," and had tentacles on his arm and face. With Aquaman issue #40 of that run, starting the One Year Later event, they changed the title of the series to Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, and had a new, younger Aquaman, who somehow had the same abilities as the old Aquaman, minus the water hand, and was also named Arthur Curry. The specific reasons for all of that are kinda murky, and I didn't really understand it all, although the series itself became a much more sword and sorcery fantasy-type series at that point. The Dweller was training the new Aquaman, was eventually killed by a villain named Narwhal, and it was then revealed that he had actually been the original Aquaman.
You know it's going to be good when he says lemme tell you somethin
Andrick Nyx unless it's a story other people hate. Then they will disregard his love for a story.
i know right
I remember one day, I was bored and I remembered there was a character named green lantern, which made me wonder if there were other colors of lantern, so I looked it up, and then i saw there was a thing called a black lantern.
Once I heard that I wondered what it was so I looked that up too and found the blackest night, which I read, i'm not a big fan of comics, but that was a fucking awesome story.
When Rob says "lemme tell ya somethin..." it gives me that little push I need each day to try and survive
I Swear down THIS IS THE BEST THING COMING OUT OF POST CRISIS DC PREBIRTH!!!
Inyalga
Hahahahaha!! Clever post, that.
Love how the took a bit villain from a 3 part Green Lantern comic years and years ago and turned him into a major big deal for blackest night.

Akeeb Khandaker same i havent heard about him for a while
I wonder will he be playing a big part against The Watchman and is just hiding and planning when to strike
Casey Robinson that was Pre-52 Manhunter, and even then he came back to life. Current Manhunter, is probably in Canada. XD
I don't think Rob knows where he is at.
Jonathan Weatherspoon ik but just asking for his thoughts on where he could be
to be fair in the specters case taking him over would be near impossible but taking over the body of crispus Allen and restraining the specter is although impressive a much lesser feat
I cannot wait for part two to come, This story is INSANE you have such a great voice in narrative any story. A +

Rob is clearly stoked to make these videos! His excitement is contagoius! Rob Corp for life!
You know... I wonder if you'd be interested in covering the DC event World War 3. Might be a different name, but its basically Black Adam waging a one man war on the super hero community. Personally, I think its just a fantastic stomp fest not unlike World War Hulk.

Nice little "death and return of superman" Max Landis reference. And you thought we'd miss that

Hey Rob, I gotta make you a question, although irrelevant. Do you think that the Living Tribunal will make an actual appearance or a cameo in MCU?
So far it doesn't look like they'll get that big, especially as long as they keep their main characters based on earth. They can't introduce God tier characters while their mainstream characters are just dudes. So the living tribunal has no reason to intervene

Every Sunday I look forward to a new chapter in your ongoing synopsis of Geoff Johns's epic run On Green Lantern. Ralph Dibny was my favorite comedic hero of DC's entire run. I'm hoping the DCTV keep him around a while.
Great video as always rob!! I have to say Barry Allen is pissing his pants right now!!! He had to outrun this guy for 20+ years!!! Now he must face him!!! This comic and Kingdom come, are the reason i love comic books.
Best story in comics. So good.
Best one the greatest stories I've read ever. Ive been reading comics since 5 (that was in the 70s). I don't say this lightly.
The JSA Blackest Night tie in is still one of my favorite stories in modern DC
Gotta admit, I actually liked the freedom fighters from 1996. I wonder if that will ever get a reboot.
You should do a video on Cosmic Armor Superman vs Superboy Prime! Also another video on Superboy Prime vs The Unstoppable Colossus! Have a great week Rob!
OMG that was crazy! Loved it and can't wait for the follow up.
Loved the Blackest Night. First crossover I ever bought and got me into comics :-)
The blackest night falls from the skies the darkness grows as all the light dies we crave your hearts and yours demise and by my *"African American"* hand the dead shall rise
This is just tasteless.
3.14 Dragon it's making fun of libtards like you you dumbass social justice warrior

One important part of the Firestorm part you missed is Ronnie Raymond's Deathstorm merging or rather absorbing Jason into his Desthstorm matrix and then killing Genie by turning her to salt after Jason thought of salt
joel quinn this guy gets it
this needs to be a movie!! Lets start a petition!!!
Geoff Johns run on Green Lantern is amazing
Totally ship lady death and black hand
Also superman day is basically super hero cinco de mayo
Every story you read is the best thing you've ever read
Black Hand and Nekron work fit perfectly in DC's Dark Knights Metal.
Rob, this shit is intense!!!!! First time my heart ever sped up watching your videos
YES ROB FINALLY AFTER ALL THE PRELUDES WE ARE HERE!!
Rob! I want to see a drinking contest between the Flash, Wolverine, the Hulk and a few others that "metabolize alcohol too quickly"

I usally don't watch you on weekends to save for the weekdays but I had to watch it early for this story lol
I loved the whole rose Wilson and death strokes emotional spectrum scene
this story willd rob one of best ones im super pumped for when you cover the storiesof infinity war for marvel comics

I love it when he says "let me tell you sumn robcorps"
Lemme tell you something..
Please cover constantine
I actually just read one of the Hellblazer John Constantine graphic novels, and it's definitely not appropriate for TH-cam!
Samuel Kearns not all of it ofc..
But then again there might not be much left hahaha
Excuse me? I believe you meant to say African-American Lanterns.
Only if he decides to be a real jerk to John Stewart.
Where is John stewart?
At least he didn't say People of Color Lanterns or Colored Lanterns LOL
#BlackLanternsMatter 😂😂😂
That sounds racists
Nigga Lantern Corp
Thanos would be the most powerful black lantern
cant wait till Rob starts to cover Metal, hopefully he considers doing Final Crisis first
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT A CLIFHANGER!!!!!!!!!
Final Crisis was Grant Morrison seeing how crazy he could write a story and seeimg if DC would let him get away with it.
@19:08 I really want to believe she said something really badass there
So the Blackest Night story is basically superheroes fighting zombies? I can dig it!!
Dammmm Rob! Why you didn't put this out yesterday my guyyyyy?! I gotta go to work now n shit 🤦🏾♂️ 😂
About the justice leagues tomb for villains, Nightwing discovered a group of criminals who were surgically grafting superhuman body parts onto normal criminals in hope of giving them superpowers

@comicsexplained another great vid thanks bro
Rob corps!!! Let me tell you something man!!! Great story!
Darkest Night would be the most awesome horror movie ever. I hope it happens.
when I was a kid I read a comic about a man who went to tibet (I think) an learned fighting skills from the monks. Here's the one thing I was curious about, unless I missed him somewhere, but I don't recall John Constantine being involved with Blackest Night.
Yess! Argh I'm still digging through my crates to find my copy of blackest night.
Rob let me you tell you something keep it up man
blackest night is my favorite DC story ever
where are my happy and sorrow lanterns tho??
There is a story that has been written on the emotional light of joy. not been published or anything but it does exist.
Good point..never thought about that....
Maybe the Phantom Ring and the First Ring represent joy and sadness.
i need my happy lanterns, boy
Love the content, will subscribe soon if, the rest of it is this good.
Rob can you cover or do a HISTORY of uncle Sam from dc
Kalani Holley Yes please!
Kalani Holley of shit glitter if he did this! I freaking love this Character
