    I bought the Grom about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I’ve also had traxxas all my life and after getting the Grom, I’ve fallen in love with the 1/18 scale RC’s. My next RC is gonna be the Teton. It’s winter here in the Midwest now so I need more cool smaller RC cars to zoom around in the basement. I’m even considering getting one of Losi’s new mini 1/18 scale LMT Grave diggers when they are available mid December. That one’s still up in the air though as I’m having a hard time digesting their $269 price when the Grom and Teton are only $129.

    I just got typoohn grom. I'm very happy with it. Watching it in a video and having it in person doesn't do it justice I really like the brushed motor and 2s battery

    I will say i own both and the Granite Grom was my choice for best because its much more durable and a little bit faster. But to be fair the Teton drove and handled alot smoother then the Grom

      So I am getting ready to get 2 little bashers for the son and I in the back yard. Narrowed down to one of these 2, maybe one each??? Mind me asking if you could elaborate some on just what characteristics make you choose the Grom over the Teton?

    I have owned the teton since day one. And i have not been impressed, it’s easy the worst traxxas product i have ever owned. I have spent a ton of money on parts and upgrades and its better but still disappointing. I would only recommend Teton for in door usage. I haven’t owned these but i would think the grom, mini lmt, fms smasher or ftx24 would all be better choices. I am honestly surprised on the praise you give the teton. I would probably recommend the trx-4mt over the teton, even if its slow as dirt and cost more!

      I must have been lucky with my Teton. I got it for Christmas and absolutely love it. I bash outside in the snow in winter and on dirt tracks and even took it on the trail for some woodland bashing through mud puddles. The guys at first thought I had a Grom. They were impressed with the Teton. I have rolled it. Driven through water, mud, grass and have jumped it. I have yet to break anything after a ton of drives. I was expecting the worst but still wanted the truck because of how cool it looks. I am not disappointed with it, I may yet get the Grom but for this year on the list is the Losi LMT 1/18 Mini Grave Digger. But for me, the Teton is dope. The only thing, and this was talked about in the video, is the motor does get really hot and you have to manage your drive time.

    Its funny to me after owning a latrax pre runner for so long and basically replacing all of the stock parts due to them breaking or just not being up to par with the brushless system I put in, and then I get the granite and out of the box it out performs the latrax, lol

      Shim the ring and pinion/input gears and use a thick, open ear grease on them.

      My Teton birthday gift takes a Hobbywing 30a ESC combo on 2s lipo all day. Add a Hot Racing steel spur, add open gear grease to that, aluminum driveshafts, shoehorn in a Traxxas waterproof receiver box in and you got yourself a reliable little truck. Runs all day, and every day without one problem. Glue the tires.

    My wife loved the teton she put it through everything. she had 5 r/cs she would drive.. she had an scx 24 jeep. that i bought for her. well all of them were bought for her mostly. i got all of the off brand name r/cs
    also had a trx 4 tactual. that body is no longer made. she also had a trx 6 as well as the xmaxx.. but when she passed away last year. I have not really been able to go out and drive them. all are pretty much shelf queens. now. was such a nasty loss to me and my daughter. So now they sit. and look at me with distance eyes. wondering if i will ever take them back out again. also our quad copters do not see any time any more. all just stare at me and wonder when. well sorry just my sad point of life from the r/c world.

    Latrax is straight up junk out the box..You have to spend double just to make it drivable

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A few upgrades do help with durability, but stock LaTrax vehicles will go a long way. I think the fact that the Teton has been around for 8 years and still hold up decently next to Arrma's latest release is pretty impressive. We've sold a lot of Tetons, and the vast majority of the owners I've talked to love them.

    • @philthyco1
      @philthyco1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the Teton was single handedly the worst rc vehicle I've ever owned, that car spent more time under tools than on the ground....you wasn't wrong about it being a good car to learn how to work on rc cars because that's nearly all I did with it. After owning a teton and an arrma id have to say your traxxas fanboy bias is showing heavily to even think the teton could hold a flame to arrma let alone a new bright from walmart lol

    • @WillCall_WRX
      @WillCall_WRX 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One of the big reasons I stay with Traxxas is because I can get parts readily without having to wait. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to get some of these mjx cars, losi, arrma, etc but I’ve just heard too many stories of people waiting weeks/months to get parts in stock only to dash online when they do immediately because if they don’t they’ll miss the opportunity again and have to go through that whole cycle over and over. Along that line, Traxxas also keeps stocking parts from older models, which I think is very cool and a lot of other companies do not do this after a car is maybe 3-4 years old.

    Quality on Latrax sucks big time

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not what it used to be. For many years, the Teton was our go-to starter vehicle, and they held up really well. Lately, they seem to have been going through motors much faster, and the driveshaft pins keep slipping out, which never happened until recently. The quality control seems to have taken a dive (thankfully, it only seems to affect the LaTrax cars, rather than the whole Traxxas product line). We may need to find a new go-to small basher to sell. The Grom would have been a perfect candidate, but due to Horizon Hobby's shipping fiasco, we've had a lot of trouble getting them.

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@philthyco1 We do sell a lot of Traxxas, but we also happen to be fans of most of their products. We do a lot of repairs on RC vehicles, and Traxxas vehicles are usually the easiest to work on and find parts for. They also have very consistently good build quality, something that Horizon Hobby-owned brands sometimes lack. We're also big fans of Team Associated for the same reason. We sell Arrma and Axial as well, but we've had a lot more quality issues with those than Traxxas and Associated products.
