    This was supposed to be a somewhat simple parts swap witch it was, but there is always something that doesn't want to work properly for you😵‍💫
    Servo problems, steering assembly issues🤔
    It just doesn't centre!

    I totally agree on the smaller scale cars. Really fun in smaller places like garages and small back yards! What’s nice of the ones you and I alike have is that most are upgradable and can be hopped up to give quite impressive performance performance! Great video Saul! Hurray for 1/18ners!🤪😃👊🏼💯

      Yeah I have so much fun just bashing around the front yard and trying to jump the fence😅
      And yes definitely a good idea to get hobby grade cars, no good if we can't upgrade or replace parts.
      Minis forever😆🤘
      Thanks mate!

    I really like the Teton too. Spending money to get it where we want it is makes me happy 😃. That’s a nice body too. I shimmed the diffs. That helps. I have the 1/16 erevo motor in mine.

      Well I'm really sorry mate, you may not like my next vid much, the Teton got worse the more I done to it🤔
      Mainly the steering but it's almost impossible to drive now😭

  • @benscootin4329

    I got a Teton today and I learned that 1:10 Slash wheels have perfect clearance in the back. Makes it look like a tractor puller.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just make sure you don't drive it with different size wheels, you will destroy the gears as the front and rear diffs will be spinning at different speeds.

    • @benscootin4329
      @benscootin4329 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't. I noticed the diffs binding when I tried to roll it. Good shout. ❤️

    I just bought that GPM differential. Got it today. The stock drive cups keep busting in half. Going to install and play with it tomorrow

      Yes the alloy diffs are definitely not a regretful purchase👌

  • @peteuncle2935
    @peteuncle2935 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great looking body, i like that one.
    With the ball diff, it's likely that it's similar to the ones in my Tamiya cars, where they have a row of small ball bearings sitting in holes right around the inner main gear, then two metal plates that push on the balls from each side. The problem with the Tamiya ones is that it's a plastic gear, and when you put brushless power into them, and the diff is set too loose, the plates spinning really fast as it lifts a wheel going around corners or doing donuts, creates heat.. which melts the plastic gear they are sitting in, then it's all over for the diff.
    Might be worth making sure yours isn't set too loose considering the bigger wheels and more power you have.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate, just hope the paint stays on the shell for a while😅
      Yes that definitely makes sense, being basically a slipper clutch type design and I would imagine plastic would NOT like that much friction😬
      Not sure if you watched the vid all the way through but I did put the stock wheels back on and the diff is quite tight, I wanted it rather tie but not locked, hopefully its good👍

    • @peteuncle2935
      @peteuncle2935 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rccrazy yep, i watched it all. I guess what i meant was that are big wheels for a small car, with small diff. Even standard ones probably bigger than 1/10 Tamiya 👍

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peteuncle2935 ok yeah I get what you mean, infact I just when and had a look, yes they are a tiny bit smaller than standard 1/10 on-road and some 1/10 buggy wheels.
      I'll keep my eye on it, thanks mate👌

      I would say the ball diff is my favourite and probably the most practical add on if you do decide to get some parts but all the parts I got are awesome👌
      Steering is definitely strange, has to be the actual assembly, the servo is really good!

      Yes the stock shafts are a little weak, the cheap steel ones from Aliexpress aren't much better sadly.
      There is alloy diff housing available, Aliexpress stock them I think.

    Hello. I have a Hobbywing 30a ESC and a cheaper 2445 5400kv waiting for a new Teton I have yet to have delivered. I know I can't go beyond 2s, (because of the ESC's instructions) and that's fine. But with a steel HR 60t spur...what pinion do you recommend so it won't overheat? What 2.3 pinion ca deal with the hardened spur? I don't see much (if any) pinions for these.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would imagine the 30a esc will not like 5400kv at all as mine cogs badly already and I'm only running 4800kv on 2s, I have to swap mine out for a 45a esc.
      But basically any mod0.8 pinion with a 2.5mm bore will work.
      I would definitely be staying with a 15 tooth pinion or smaller, I don't think the esc will handle even that though😬

    • @Shadows-RC
      @Shadows-RC 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @rccrazy Thanks for the suggestions. I believe, though, that the Latrax uses 48 pitch spur & 2.3mm bore pinion gearing. I think you're spot on about not exceeding a 15t pinion. I'm inexperienced with brushless systems for the 18th scale. I kind of found out that my motor is pushing the ESC's limits, being a 45mm length. The 30a is designed for up to 35mm motors and up to 5000kv at a limit of 2s. It says it can do 3s, but the kv of the motor would have to be in the 3000 to maybe 4000kv area, tops. So yeah... you're right that my ESC would be strained. I wish I knew before I got it all. I could maybe get away with running that in my RadioShack Pro-Pulse truck with HPI's mini Recon chassis swap, but not a more dedicated Teton, which would be run a lot more often. I'm gonna look into maybe a more suitable setup for it.
      Now, to decide on connectors. I have EC5 for all my RC's. Maybe EC3 would be better for those tiny gauge wires. EC2 wouldn't be enough amp capability, believe it or not.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes apologies, my bad it is 48p not mod0.8, definitely don't want to go miss meshing😬
      But I think all you would need to do is get a 40a or 45a esc and you would have no issues running upto 15t pinion but that high kv will still get super hot without cooling, by what you've said I think you kind of understand that though, a good fan will help obviously👌
      And now I can't remember the rest of you comment/question, stay tuned, second reply coming asap😅

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah your connectors🥴
      So yes I think you have a good plan, EC5 for bigger lipos/cars and the EC3 for smaller scale cars with like 50a max esc👌
      I'm similar but all my big lipos I use 5.5mm gold connectors, XT60 for mid range and XT30 for smale scale, I have many diy adapters though so I can use any connectors😅

      @@rccrazy If not that,it could be the servo potentiometer not centering.

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I don't think it's the potentiometer, the servo itself centres and stays centre but the steering links and saver do have a fair amount of play.
      I did try the servo in another car and it was perfect and super strong👍
      Potentiometers can be a real hassle though if you don't know how to adjust them😅
